Introduction
She stood at the gates of the house that she called her own until a few hours ago dressed in her wedding finery. Her wedding attire soaked in the rain, looked like the sky was crying with her. Her mind drifted to a few hours ago when he told her he loved her and would never leave her side, to the beautiful memories of him by her side.
But he lied! It was all a lie! To punish her he left her, he left her in the middle of the road abandoned her! "Karma" he called it. What was her fault in this? Why did she have to suffer the brunt of someone else's actions? Why? Why? Maybe he was kidding? Joking with her like he always did? Maybe he would come to her in the morning and apologise. So many questions were swimming around her mind and shattered heart.
The rumble of thunder bought her back to the harsh reality and she slowly made her way to the front door and hesitantly rang the doorbell.
At the same time
Dadi woke up with a start feeling restless like something was out of place, like someone close to her was in pain. She pushed her worries aside and reached for some water to help calm her racing heart. Finding the water jug empty she stood and made her way towards the kitchen. She refilled her jug and had some water feeling the anxiousness return. She decided she was thinking too much, all that had gone wrong in the last few months had made her anxious. Reassuring herself she started to head back to her room when a knock on the door broke her train of thought.
Placing the jug of water she was carrying on the dining table she headed to the door. As she opened the door she stumbled backwards at the sight of her granddaughter dressed as a bride, soaking wet and tears streaming down her face. "Roo...." Was all she could say.
