Rushing down the stairs as fast as she could with Sherlyn on her tail Rakhee reached the living room to find Kritika trying to calm down a hysterical Roo screaming Akaash's name.

"Roo, Kya howa hai?" Rakhee reached out for her daughter

"Roo..." Karan shouted from the top of the stairs as he and Rishabh raced down towards their sister. But Roo didn't reply she continued to scream and shout.

"Kritika what happened?" Karan asked, getting no reply he turned to Sameer who stood next to a struggling Kritika with his back towards the two girls. Getting no reply from him Karan noticed Kareena, Ramona and Mahira standing stunned in front of the television.

"Mein Renu Sharma OneTV se aap ke liye layi hoon Aajki 'Breaking New'" the reporter enthusiastically chirped "Mr Akaash Shergill, the youngest son of industrialist Ramkishan Shergill announces his engagement in the early hours of this morning to his childhood best friend Shrishti Arora. Hum khare hai Shergill mansion me jahan ek press conference chal rahi hai jis mein soon to be Mrs Akaash Shergill ko officially introduce kiya jayega."

The Luthra's were stunned.... Karan looked at his sister who had dropped to the floor, she was no longer screaming but was clutching her mangalsutra and sobbing in his mother's arms.

Shrishti Arora?! It couldn't be their Shrishti, his number one fan... no she loved Sammy, she wouldn't leave him and marry someone else... Karan's thoughts were interrupted by loud cheering coming from the television.

"And here come the happy couple Mr Akaash Shergill and Miss Shrishti Arora" Renu all but shouted in excitement. Karan had his eyes glued to the television hoping beyond hope that they were speaking of some other Shrishti but then the screen focused on a couple and his hopes shattered.

His eyes were drawn to the man first, Akaash Shergill, his sister's husband... he was tall, very tall compared to Sammy thought Karan, and he was well-built with a broad chest, handsome and dressed impeccably. He was standing with his arm around the waist of a tall slim woman, she was stunning. He always knew she was beautiful but he could finally see what had drawn his shy reserved brother towards her – Shrishti.

There she stood dressed in a long black gown looking up into the eyes of the man smiling back at her – a man that wasn't his brother! Karan looked towards his little brother - Sameer had gone completely pale and wasn't reacting it almost looked like he wasn't breathing. Karan moved towards Sameer and placed his hand on Sameer's shoulder. Before he could say anything the silence in the room was broken...

"Yeh kase..." Kareena whispered unable to say anything else.
