ck Robby/Miguel-flexible

@/MeroNiakeehl on ao3 and I made a little collab prompt:

Johnny tries to convince Robby, the all-star student at All-Star karate, to leave there and come to Miyagi-Fang(?). Robby comes in and is like "alright, let me test my luck with the strongest student here" and boom it's Miguel
They spar it out, Robby wins and is like "that's not the only way I'm flexible ;)"

That's it. Just some sexual tension lol

(also i accidentally changed this to be earlier so its in johnny's cobra kai?? oh well y'all aren't here for the nitty gritty, let's get into it--)

"I think you should give it a chance," Johnny insisted as he packed up his things around his dingy apartment. He was getting ready to go teach his class at Cobra Kai, while his son, Robby, was lounging on the couch.

Since Johnny and Shannon had agreed to this whole 'partial-custody' idea, Robby had been spending his weekends at his father's. Robby wasn't very social with Johnny, so they mostly just watched movies and made awkward small talk, but lately Johnny seemed to want to make a change. Robby was All-Star karate's all-star student, but Johnny obviously wanted to poach him, to make him fight for his own dojo.

Robby never understood why Johnny seemed so intense about karate. He was just in All-Star for fun, but to Johnny, it was like a karate war or something.

"What, you need me to come in and beat your best student's ass?" Robby challenged. "Because I can. Just point them out, give me thirty seconds, and then I'll be done...right?" He gave Johnny a pointed look, as if challenging him to push the matter further.

Johnny raised his eyebrows, seeming entirely surprised by the idea that Robby was even willing to make a cameo. "I mean, sure. But the guys at the dojo might surprise you, maybe you could learn a thing or two from them."

"Sure thing," Robby replied with a roll of his eyes, reluctantly getting up to get ready.

The ride to the dojo was not as awkward as Robby thought it would be. Usually, Johnny felt the need to fill the silence, as if catching up on their years apart would make Robby feel better. He told these awful (and, yet, strangely hilarious) stories about getting drunk with his old Cobra Kai buddies in his 20s and messing things up. He talked about the best music of the 80s ("I mean, yeah, Queen's epic, but is that really all kids these days know about?") and would complain about his dojo rivalry with Miyagi-do, as if it were life and death. Luckily, with his dad's ramblings, Robby could be mostly silent, only commenting with a hum here and there.

When they arrived, the students seemed to not really acknowledge Johnny; Robby wondered if any of them took him seriously. That was, at least, until he locked eyes with the student at the front of the room, in front of the wall with the famous painted slogan: "STRIKE FIRST, STRIKE HARD, NO MERCY".

This student was a young man about his age, seventeen. He had light brown skin and dark brown eyes, hair wavy and a little unkempt; perhaps he had been practicing earlier, which was funny, considering that the other students looked as if they hadn't bothered.

Robby grinned as he took his shoes off, stepping into the mat and wearing his All-Star gi with pride, ignoring the other students' looks. He marched promptly up to the student, extending a hand with what he considered a charming smile. "I take it you're Miguel, the student my dad can't shut up about?"

Miguel looked him up and down, skepticism in his eyes, and Robby tried not to let the heat go visibly to his cheeks. Being interested in guys and competing in a typically male-dominated sport, Robby often had a hard time with the blurred line between sizing a guy up and checking him out. This time was no exception.

Miguel looked up at him and managed a smile, shaking his hand. "I take it you're Robby, the All-Star student that Sensei Lawrence can't shut up about?"

Robby did blush at that, and he nodded, opening his mouth to speak before his dad cut him off.

"Alright, everybody fall in!" Johnny announced, and he nodded to Robby to join him at the front of the class. "Guys, this is my son, Robby. As you can see, he's sporting this stupid All-Star gi in here because he really thinks he's something. He won the All-Valley last year, but I'm gonna need my best student to come up here and kick some sense into him."

There was some grumbling about the class at that. Obviously, he meant Miguel, but some of the other students looked interested as well. For good measure, Robby leaned in, whispering to his dad: "I'm gonna kick Miguel's ass, alright?" and when he pulled away, he eyed Miguel, giving him that trouble-maker's smile that always made teachers wary of him in school. This way, Miguel would not be left wondering what Robby was truly after; after a few minutes, Miguel would not be left wondering who was the better fighter.

"Diaz, Robby, in the middle! Class, circle up!" Johnny ordered, eyeing the pair warily, but curiously, as if not knowing what to expect. The class got in formation, and Robby locked eyes with Miguel as he got into a fighting position.

"You're a bit quiet," Robby commented, head cocked to the side like a curious puppy as he looked Miguel up and down, sizing him up more than what was probably strictly strategical. "Scared, Diaz?"

"No," Miguel replied, seeming completely level-headed. "I just like to fight more than I shit-talk."

"Begin!"

Miguel was definitely right about that; he sprung into action, moving in with a few side punches, deftly dodging one of Robby's more showy kicks. Miguel seemed to be going for a lot of offense under Johnny's training, so when Robby managed to smoothly block several of Miguel's punches in quick succession and jab him in the chest, Miguel looked surprised to say the least.

"Point, Keene!"

This seemed to stir Miguel to move in harder, shuffling about quickly before throwing up a kick, which Robby barely managed to throw to the side. Miguel finally managed to pull Robby in close, kneeing him in the chest.

"Point, Diaz!"

"There are worse places to get kneed," Robby managed with heavy breath, and Miguel breathed out a laugh at that. Although it seemed both of them were taking this sparring match, this Cobra Kai versus All-Star seriously, there was at least room for some fun. And to Robby, Miguel seemed to have quite a bit of potential for fun.

"Ready? Fight!"

Robby moved in first this time, taking hold of Miguel's waist and throwing him onto the ground, Miguel rolling out of the way before Robby could land a hit. He managed to pull Robby down with him, starting to swiftly stand before Robby kicked him back down, right on his chest.

"Point, Keene!"

Miguel huffed, looking pissed, and Robby almost smiled. This was always the best part, seeing the fire in his opponent's eyes and blowing it out with seeming ease. It wasn't easy, the work he did, but it was worth it for moments like these.

"Ready? Fight!"

Miguel swooped in with a kick that hit Robby right in the leg, causing him to fall over, though he managed to trap Miguel's leg between his own, taking him down with him. With some scrambling, some half-delirious attempt to roll away, Robby managed to hit him square on the back.

"Match, Keene!"

Robby couldn't care less, too focused in on Miguel, now sitting upright and breathing heavily as he eyed Robby with the same intense, considering look he had when the store bell first rang behind him. "You're pretty good, Keene." Miguel admitted. "Hard to hit, for sure. Flexible."

"Yeah?" Robby grinned broadly, uncaring that the eyes of the class were on him, because he had to let Miguel know that there were no hard feelings somehow. That he was just as curious, if not more, about Miguel than he was about him. He leaned in, breath warm on Miguel's ear as his whispered: "That's not the only way I'm flexible..."

He stood, trying not to laugh at Miguel's scandalized face as he stood and stretched for a moment longer than necessary, allowing Miguel to get a good look at his long legs that he probably hadn't favored when they were kicking at him. He said, louder then so the class could hear: "We should do that again sometime." And his grin was surely shark-like, because why else would Miguel eye Robby's hand so warily when he helped him up, and why else would his legs be trembling, his eyes nervous?

"I guess you were right, then," Johnny says, a little disappointed. "You can call yourself one of those Suber taxi things and get out of here, if you've got nothing else to learn."

Robby looks over at his dad and how he looks a mixture of disappointed and hopeful. He looks back over at Miguel, who's eyes are only on him as he too stretches out from the strenuous warm-up.

"No, I think I'll stay." Robby settled, his eyes on Miguel, and he sees the other's eyes light up in marginal interest. "I could probably still learn a thing or two from these guys...and they could learn a thing or two from me, right?" he asked.

Miguel looked hesitant, though he nodded, smiling a little at Robby, as if amused by trying to understand him. "Yeah, I guess so."

"Good," Johnny looked a little relieved at that. "Alright, class...let's begin!"
