Friday night. It came sooner than people thought it would. People crowded into the amphitheater gossiping and chatting. Katie Gardner walked into the theater (after being pushed around every so often) and sat next to her friends.

"Welcome everybody! I'm so glad you came!" Mr. D said

"You said you'd punish us if you didn't!" Some shouted in the crowd.

"AND DON'T THINK I STILL WON'T!" Mr. D yelled.

"Okay, now that everyone is here, I will pull names out of a hat so I don't choose favorites." Chiron said.

"Yeah, Percy!" Someone else shouted and everyone laughed.

Even Chiron smiled. "Okay and the person who will perform is...."

Please don't be me! Please don't be me! Katie furiously thought.

"Katie Gardner!"

Fudge.

All of the sudden, she was pushed and the next thing she knew, she was on the stage wincing at the bright spotlight.

"Um...." Katie mumbled. "I-I guess I'll sing Earth Song by Michael Jackson?"

Deep breaths Katie. Deep breaths. She thought.

The music ended and everyone was silent for a while. Then everyone bursted out in cheering. Katie breathed heavily and walked off the stage. When she sat again in her seat, her friends hugged her and congratulated her. Katie wiped a year she didn't know she shed.

"That.... was amazing. And now for the next performer," Chiron said, putting his hand in the hat. "Who is....."
