Have you seen a Pokémon angrier than Mankey? I mean, I'm sure there are some, but there aren't many!

This Pokémon is famous for its fearsome temper and wild attacks. It kind of makes me wonder why more villain teams don't use this Pokémon. Maybe they're too wild even for the likes of Team Rocket...

Once fully evolved into Primeape, this Pokémon is still solely a fighting type. That means that it has advantages over normal, ice, rock, dark, and steel types.

As for disadvantages, those would be flying and psychic types. That means that this guy has double the advantages over disadvantages, which is pretty useful!

Design Factor:

I'm not really sure what to say here. I'm not crazy about Mankey's design, but I don't hate it. It's one of those designs that just feels a bit... average. And that's okay! Not all Pokémon can have an eye-catching design!

But I will admit, I do like Mankey's fluff. It's cute, and it softens a normally grouchy Pokémon.

Lore Factor:

I'm not going to lie... I find the lore aspect of this evolutionary line to be a bit bland. The only thing to glean from this Pokémon's Pokédex entries is that it's angry, like, all of the time. That's it. There doesn't seem to be much else to discover about this Pokémon, which is kind of disappointing! I was hoping for a bit more depth.

Stats Factor:

No surprise, Primeape's strongest base stat is its attack. As for the weakest, it's a tie between defense and special attack. But overall, the base stats are pretty solid, with none of them being frighteningly low. Pretty decent all around!

Evolutionary Factor:

I'm going to be honest—I'm not crazy about the change from Mankey to Primeape. It feels kinda anticlimactic, you know? It feels like they slapped some cuffs on it and made it bigger. But that's okay! A lot of Pokémon evolutions are kind of this way. They can't all be wildly clever and ingenious!
