Neko's are 35% of the population and Kaneki is a half ghoul Neko who has PTSD (from the Jason torture) and is working at Antieku.

3rd Person

Kaneki Ken, it may not look it but his life has been nothing but hell.

His mother is dead.

He's a half ghoul.

And a Neko.

The Neko part may not sound bad, but the specie-racism was high for Neko's. Some people think they should be pets and shouldn't have jobs, so they treat them badly. He doesn't trust anyone but the workers of Anteiku, a little, he lives a block away and his apartment is paid by Mr. Yoshimura.

Kaneki is working his shift when two costumers come in, one with silver hair and the other covered in tattoos and his Raven hair has one side shaved. His ears flatten and his tail drops, fear filling him at the sight of the two mean looking men. Koma, one of his co-workers, notice and quickly jumps into help the poor Neko. "Well look who came to meet the new guy! This is Kaneki-" he said, petting the Neko's hair causing him to jump and making Koma stop almost instantly. "-And Kaneki this is Yomo and Uta." He introduced, Uta held his hand out, indicating he wants to shake hands. The poor neko flinched and hid behind his arms. Koma smiled nervously and said "Kaneki, why don't you go get some more beans. We're almost out." Kaneki nodded and quickly left. When Kaneki was gone Koma leaned over and said "you gotta be careful around him, he has PTSD. That Jason guy from Agori kidnapped him and tortured the crap out of him. Manager found him and took him in and now we take care of him. Today's his first day and he's a bit nervous." Yomo nodded and Uta smirked and said "he's kinda cute~" Koma smiled and shook his head.

The Neko entered the room, nervous as always, and handed the bag of beans to Koma and went to leave but was stopped when he heard Uta say, "Kaneki! Can I have a coffee please~?" He whimpered and nodded, he quickly made the coffee and handed it to Uta. "Thank you. You know.. You are really cute. Would you like to go out with us sometime?" Kaneki tensed and shook his head no frantically, his ears flattening on his head, starting back away. Yomo hit Uta hard, glaring at him. "Sorry about him, he's a insensitive asshole. You don't have to do anything." The Neko nodded and got back to work.

When Kaneki was done with work he walks home quickly, he is almost home when he felt a hand on his back. He jumps and looks behind him to see a strange man, he smells like whiskey and Kaneki hates it. "Hey thereeee~, I found me a cute little neko~" he laughed, petting Kaneki's head, tears burned in his eyes and he tried to push him away, "please leave me alone..!" He cried, the man then started to touch his tail. Suddenly the man screamed and fell, Kaneki, seeing his escape, took off running till he fell and hit his head on the wall, and everything went black.

When Kaneki woke up he saw he wasn't in his house or the streets, he was on a nice soft bed. He sat up and looked around, he was in a dark, but warm, room. He hopped out of bed and walked to out of the room in to the living room, where Yomo and Uta sat, the Neko tensed and his ears dropped but went up when Uta smiled at him and patted the empty spot between him and Yomo, Kaneki quickly sat down and watched TV with them contently. After an hour Yomo started to rub his ears soothingly, making Kaneki purr loudly. Kaneki felt safe.. it's been so long since he's felt like this.

Like he was finally home.
