Kanan's pov

Ezra and I got assigned a mission to find a new ally. His name is John Roberts. He has helped us in the past with information and supplies.

But we fear the Empire will find him. So today, we have to get John to join the rebellion.

He works at a pet store in Capital City. When Ezra and I walked into the store, we were immediately welcomed by loud barks from dogs in cages.

"I don't think they like us." I joke.

"They are just excited and want us to adopt them." Ezra says while walking towards the cages of dogs.

"Well if that is correct, tell the dogs we aren't here to adopt them." I say sarcastically and head to the counter.

I hear Ezra sigh and he follows me. We don't see anyone at the counter till a man with gray hair and blue eyes comes out of the back door holding cat food.

"Hi, how may I help you?" He asks setting the food on the counter.

"Hi, are you Mr. Roberts?" I ask.

"Indeed I am." He says.

"Well my name is Kanan Jarrus. This is Ezra Bridger." I say pointing at Ezra.

His eyes widen. "I've heard of you two. You guys are part of the rebellion."

"Yes we are. We've come here because the Empire might know your location." Ezra says.

"Really? I've tried to get information to the rebellion secretly." John says.

"Well we all think it would be best if you joined the rebellion to prevent the Empire from finding you." I say.

"Join the rebellion?!?! I can't do that. I'm way too old." He says.

"We understand that. You have a choice to join us. But we still want you to come with us just in case they do know your location." I say.

He sighs. "I'm going to need time to decide."

"We will give you all the time you need." I say.

Ezra and I then go to the seats and sit down.

Ezra's pov

I love animals. I used to always want a pet when I was little. That's what made me excited about this mission.

While waiting for John, I got up from my seat and start to explore the pet store.

There were so many different kinds of animals. My person favorite is dogs so I go back to the cages and hear all the dogs barking again.

"Hello." I say.

"Bark bark!!" One of the dogs says.

"I'm sorry, Kanan said we aren't adopting." I say.

"Bark!!!" He says.

"I know you hate being in the cage, but someone will adopt you. I know it will happen." I say.

I also have a gift where I could talk to animals. It's pretty cool, but very weird too. Talking to animals actually helped me when I was on the streets feel less alone.

I never told Kanan or the crew about my gift. I never even told my parents before they were taken.

I don't know how they would respond to it. I could tell Kanan now, but he would probably not believe me.

"Bark bark!!" The brown dog says from the other cage.

"Wait really?" I ask not believing the news.

"Bark!!" He says.

I was shocked. The dog just said that John is working with the Empire.

"How could that be?" I ask.

"Bark!!!" He says.

The dog said John is undercover and is going to reveal our location once we bring him to our base.

"Thanks." I say and go to Kanan. I basically run to him causing him to look at me weird.

"What is it?" Kanan asks me.

"We need to leave now. John works for the Empire." I whisper so John won't hear.

"What? No he doesn't." Kanan says.

"Yes he does. He wants us to bring him to our base so he could expose it." I whisper.

"That's the most craziest thing I've heard from you." Kanan says getting angry.

"But Kanan I-"

"Ezra stop it. There is no way John is working for the Empire. That is final." He snaps.

I sigh. If he doesn't believe me about this, then he will definitely not believe me about my gift.

I guess I have to come up with a plan myself.

I go back to the dogs. "Instead of waiting for someone to adopt you guys, do you want to be let out now?"

They all bark with excitement. "Ok here is what I need you guys to do....."

After explaining the whole plan, I go back to Kanan.

"Can I ask John something about the dogs?" I ask Kanan. "Because they don't look good."

"Why do you care about the dogs?" He asks me.

"Please, I could feel it through the force." I say hoping he will believe me.

He sighs. "Fine, go ask him."

I then head to the back room and use the force to open the cages.

I told them to follow me quietly so Kanan won't notice them.

When we saw John, he was talking to someone on his phone.

"The two Jedi are here and still believe I am on their side. Should I wait to expose their base?...........You sure?.......Ok I will make them tell me where their base is. If not, I will go with them and contact you......." He says and hangs up.

I hope my plan works.

John was about to walk out of the room, till I show myself.

"Hey, Mr. Roberts." I say sounding casual.

He gasps in surprise. "Hello kid, is there a problem?"

"I just have a question." I say.

I look behind him to see a blaster half hidden in the shadows. I signal the dogs to quietly go behind John and take his weapon.

Surprisingly, they did it. For dogs they should be part of the military.

"What's the question?" He asks.

"Since you are a reliable ally to the rebellion, can you tell me the problems you had with the Empire?" I ask.

He stiffens. "What do you mean?"

"Well, our long distance ally's always have difficulty retrieving information or harvesting the right supplies and transporting them to our base. I'm just amazed how you never have those problems." I say.

"Um.....yeah I....I have my ways of helping the rebellion." John says nervously.

I nod. "That's great. I guess the Empire is starting to get weak with finding us. Wouldn't you agree?"

"Uh....Yes......I agree." He says hesitantly.

Before I start my real plan, let me just mess with him for a little longer.

"They think they chose the right leaders for the government. But they only have a bunch of wimps." I say.

He gives a small glare but then hides it.

Perfect.

"I mean really. They try to have people go undercover to expose our base or something. It never works." I say.

His eyes widen but he quickly hides it. He then changes the subject.

"If I do go with you guys, where exactly am I going?" John asks.

"Oh don't worry it's not far. Our base is in Dathomoir, (Not sure if I spelled that right.)." I lie. "Maybe it's a little far, but it will be fine."

I could see a small smile on his face. Yeah, just you wait John.

"That's good to know." He says.

"Well, I better leave you to make up your mind about joining us." I say walking out with the blaster now in my hands.

I don't care what Kanan says, we are keeping these dogs!!! I can't wait to use this blaster.

I sit next to Kanan again and we wait a few more minutes till John comes out.

"Made up your mind?" Kanan asks standing up.

"Yeah, I appreciate the offer but I'm going to stay here." John says. 

Kanan frowns while I make a small victory fist.

"What about the Empire?" Kanan asks him.

"I'm sure I could handle it." John says.

Yeah, sure you will.....

"Well we wish you luck and may the force be with you." Kanan says and we both leave the store.

Time Skip........

Ezra's pov

It's only been a few days since that mission with the traitor, and nothing has happened.

Kanan is making me practice dodging blaster shots with my saber, while Sabine and Zeb are sitting on the ramp.

"This is really strange." Sabine says out of nowhere.

"You could say that again." Zeb says while looking at the data pad with Sabine.

"What is it?" Kanan asks them while we are training.

"You know how the Empire hasn't been on our tail lately?" Sabine asks. "Well turns out, they went to Dathomoir. Why Dathomoir?"

I try to hide my laughter. Now something happened.

"What's so funny?" Kanan asks me noticing my laughter.

"Oh nothing Kanan." I lie and grin. "You probably won't believe me."

I then walk inside the ghost ignoring all the confused faces. I go into my room and immediately be welcomed by my two dogs.

"Hey guys. Did you miss me?" I ask and pet them.

"Bark!!!" Little Kanan says while Tiny Zeb nudges his head on my leg.

Don't judge me on the names!!!! The brown dog is named Little Kanan because he sometimes doesn't make smart decisions when he pees in the ghost.

Exactly like Kanan!!! Well except for the pee part......

My other dog is named Tiny Zeb because he smells......BAD!!!!

I wasn't lying when I said I was keeping these dogs. Of course the crew found out, but soon they let me keep them.

I still never told them about my gift, but I'm sure I will tell them one day.....

Well, they still probably won't believe me.

They didn't believe me when I told them about John. Zeb laughed at me, Sabine wanted to believe me but didn't, Hera tried to reason with me that what I was saying wasn't true, and Kanan yelled at me again.

Yeah, not a good day.

But I'm surprised they haven't talked to me that the fact I told John our base was in Dathomoir, the Empire went there.

"Ezra, can we talk for a second?" I hear Kanan ask me through the door.

Oh great, someone actually notices.

"Ok coming." I say and open my door and leave.

I make sure my dogs don't get out. The crew doesn't want them to be around the ghost. Only if they have to go to the bathroom or something, I could let them out.

I go into Kanan's room to see him sitting on his bed.

"You didn't knock." He says.

I roll my eyes. "Sorry, what do you want to tell me?"

"How come when you told us about telling John our base was in Dathomoir-"

"The Empire went there? Because what I was saying was true." I say cutting him off.

Kanan sighs feeling bad about what happened.

"Ezra, I'm sorry we didn't believe you." He apologizes.

"Oh don't worry Kanan, it's not like our base would've been exposed or something." I say sarcastically.

"I know you're mad at us." He says.

"Oh no, I'm only mad at you. I try to warn you about something important, and you yell at me. It makes me feel like you don't trust me." I say crossing my arms.

"I do trust you." Kanan says.

"Then why didn't you believe me?" I ask him.

"Because it didn't seem too believable. We all trusted John so I didn't think he would be a traitor." He says.

"So the trust of a long distance 'ally' was more important than the trust of your padawan?" I ask getting more and more angry.

"No!!! Of course not!!!" He shouts.

"Then why Kanan?!?!? Is it because I'm a kid?!?! You think I would make up something like that because you think I'm a child?!" I shout.

He doesn't say anything.

"I guess that's the answer." I say and turn to leave.

"Ezra wait." Kanan says and grabs my arm. "You have made up things before, so I just naturally thought you were making up this."

"I'm not a kid." I say defensive.

"You kinda are. You just have to act like you're not. No kid goes through the stuff you have to do everyday." He says.

I sigh. "I know."

"You don't have to forgive me. But I really hope you will." He says.

I think about it for a second and decide to wrap my arms around him into an embrace.

"I forgive you." I say.

I could tell he is grateful I forgive him and wraps his arms around me.

"I just one more question." He says.

"Ok, what is it?" I ask.

"How did you know John was a traitor?" Kanan asks me.

My eyes widen.

"Uhhhhhh.........."

That's the end of this one!!!! Will Ezra tell Kanan about his gift? How will Kanan react? That's something you guys will have to wonder, or find out in another chapter. Hope you all enjoyed!!!!
