Kanan's pov

"It's so hot out here!!!!" Ezra shouts laying on the ground.

Today is the most hottest day on Lothal, 103 degrees. To make things more torturous for Ezra, we are training outside.

"It's not so bad. Now come on, get off the ground." I say helping him up. But he refuses to get up and stayed on the ground.

"Why can't we train inside where there is air conditioning?" Ezra asks me.

"Well we could if you want to meditate." I say.

That's when Ezra stops whining and gets up.

"Thought so." I say and finally start training.

We were dueling each other today. Ezra was excited about it before, but now he is so exhausted from the heat.

I defeat him again. "Ezra you have to focus."

"I'm trying but it's so hot out here." Ezra says.

I sigh. He has been on Lothal longer than us. Hasn't he been use to the heat?

That's when I see a river not too far from us.

"Why don't you jump into that river to cool you off." I say pointing at it.

Ezra sees the river, but looks down.

"I'm good." He says.

"You were just complaining about the heat." I say.

"I know but I just don't want to go in the river." Ezra mumbles.

"Come on, how bad could it be? It will cool you down." I say.

"I said I'm good." Ezra snaps and walks back into the ghost.

That was strange. Why didn't he want to go into the river? I'll have to talk to him about this later. But right now he needs to cool off.

Time Skip

Ezra's pov

It's been a few days since the whole river thing. I didn't want to go in because I can't swim.

I feel humiliated already about it, so I would've felt more embarrassed if I told Kanan.

I was sent today to go near the river to get some fruit. There is a bunch of trees there that grow the fruit we need. So as long as I stay away from the river, everything will be fine.

I collected a few but there was this one that was attached to a tree that I really wanted.

I try to shake the tree so the fruit will fall. But I shook it so hard, the fruit went all the way into the river.

It was in the deep area. Not good for me.

I tried to use the force to bring it to me, but it wasn't working. So I had no choice but to try and reach for it.

I sit by the edge and spread my arm out as far as I can. But it wasn't far enough.

I get out of my sitting position and reach a little bit more.

I didn't know how far I tried to reached for the fruit till I fell in.

I made a huge splash when I hit the water. I was sinking deeper into the river. I felt my breath was being taken away. I couldn't shout for help or even swim back to the surface.

All I saw was darkness. No light was shown. No warmth was felt, only cold.

I could feel myself drifting away. That is until my feet touched the bottom of the river.

I took the opportunity to kick the ground to send me to the top. When I finally got to the top, I used all my energy to call for Kanan through the force.

"KANAN!!!! IM DROWNING!!!! HELP ME!!!!" I scream till I didn't have no more energy.

I was sent back underwater with lack of oxygen. I finally let the darkness take over my vision, and black out.

Kanan's pov

I was meditating till I felt a disturbance in the force.

"KANAN!!!! IM DROWNING!!!! HELP ME!!!!" I hear a voice shout through the force.

I flinched when I heard the scream and felt pain and coldness through me and Ezra's bond.

Oh no he's in trouble. I quickly get out of my room and sprint out of the ghost.

I try to find Ezra's force signature. When I find it, it was very weak. It was coming from the river.

Without thinking, I run all the way to the river and jump in.

It was pitch black underwater. I try to find Ezra.

"Ezra?!?!" I shout above the river. I go back under and keep searching.

I need to find him. He can't die like this. I won't lose him.

All of a sudden, I see a body on the bottom of the river.

EZRA!!!!

I swim towards him and quickly grab him by his arm. I pull him in my arms and swim back to the surface.

I lay Ezra's limp body on the ground and try to wake him up.

"Ezra?" I say shaking him. He is very unconscious. I didn't know how bad it was till I realized he wasn't breathing.

"Ezra no!!!!" I shout immediately doing CPR on him. He stayed still not moving an inch.

"Don't do this Ezra!!!! Don't leave me!!! I need you!!!! I already lost my master!!! I don't want to lose you too!!!" I shout with tears rolling down my face.

I keep pushing down on his chest till Ezra's electric blue eyes open with a gasp. He shot up and puked out the remaining water inside of him.

I sigh in relief. When Ezra is done, he looks around in confusion.

"Wha.....what happened?" He asks with a scratchy voice.

I don't hesitate to hug him. "I thought I lost you!!!! You scared the force out of me!!!!"

"Kanan......are you *cough* alright?" Ezra asks me.

I break out of the hug. "Am I alright?!?! You were underwater unconscious, almost dead!!!! Are you alright?!?!?"

"Yeah I'm fine." He mumbles.

"Can you please tell me what happened?" I ask him.

"It's just....the fruit we needed fell in the water. I tried to get it out, but I fell in too. I couldn't get out because......I can't swim." Ezra says with his head down.

I was beyond shocked. Why didn't he tell me? That's probably why he didn't want to come here during training.

"Ezra why didn't you tell me before?" I ask him.

"Because I already felt embarrassed by it. I didn't want you to think I was weak." He says.

I cannot believe what he is saying. I pull him into another wet embrace.

"Ezra I will never think of you as weak. You are the most special thing to me. Please tell me next time. I was so worried." I say holding him tight.

Ezra nods understanding and we both continue to sit there holding each other. We both then get out of the embrace.

"Ready to go back home?" I ask him.

"Yes, thank you dad." He says.

I was surprised he called me dad. But I ruffle his wet navy blue hair with a smile.

"You're welcome son." I say and we walk back to the ghost.
