Gien Bunchō made her first appearance in the new version of Koihime†Musou (恋姫†無双) as Shin Koihime†Musou (真・恋姫†無双) in 2008 as one of the main characters if the player chose to side with Shoku. After joining with Shoku, she becomes a devoted bodyguard of Ryūbi. She has a tomboyish personality and seems to take exception to any kind of behavior that suggests affection or attraction, whether from people, or animals (such as Ryofu Hōsen's dogs).

Background

Prior to joining with Shoku, Gien Bunchō is an apprentice of Gengan (厳顔). She was easily distinguished by her black hair with white streaks on the right side.

During her training, she was lost consciousness when something has struck her head before she wakes up and finds a certain black belt buckle and a lock with the image of a walnut, which she deducted two items were the cause for losing her consciousness. Then, she would use them and transformed into Kamen Rider Knuckle (仮面ライダーナックル Kamen Raidā Nakkuru).

She would follow her master until they've arrived at Lecheng, where she was tasked by her master to rescue Riri (璃々), a daughter of Kochū Kanshō (黄忠 漢升) who was being held hostage by Enshō Houshō (袁紹 本初) to blackmail and forced her to hold off Shoku (蜀) and buying her time to escape from their wrath. From there, she encounters with Yuuki Kusanagi (草薙 悠来 Kusanagi Yūki), the King of Shoku (蜀の王 Shoku no Ō) who has same intention to rescue Riri and later, she joined Shoku alongside her master, Kochū Kanshō, and Chōun Shiryū as they've subdued Enshou Hounshou and put an end to the long-standing legacy of the En clan.

Gien faithfully follows her lord in his quest to unite the land under Shoku's banner and bring peace to the land as well as put an end to the threat of their common enemy; the White Clothes.
