Chapter 7

Astrid took a deep sigh. Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse, Bide. There's a move he hasn't let his Goodra use just yet. I have to end this quick. "Pyroar, Flamethrower, circle it around Goodra, then fire again!"

The lion roared, burping out a fiery stream around the dragon before burning it as Goodra smiled.

"Now Goodra, Rain Dance!"

Goodra summoned dark rain clouds and heavy rains started to drop down, quelling the flames with next to no issue.

"So that was your last move? That's why you kept it out for so long?"

"You got it. Now your Fire type moves won't be as effective!"

Clemont nodded. "Excellent job Ash!"

Serena grew less nervous. "Wait so Flamethrower can't work as much, and Sleep Talk and Rest won't do much if the only move that can do damage is Wild Charge."

Bonnie pumped her fists. "So all Ash has to do is make sure Pyroar doesn't fall asleep again!"

"The question is, can he pull it off?"

"Nice job Ash, but Goodra's still paralyzed."

"Sure about that?"

Goodra's Hydration kicked in, healing them from the paralysis and granting it more energy, eagering shaking their hands and appendages up.

"Ready to go Goodra?"

"Goo-dra!"

"Alright, let's beat Pyroar! Go, use Ice Beam!"

"Pretty cool, but you're not going to win! Pyroar, jump, then use Wild Charge!"

"Now Goodra, lower your head and use Ice Beam on the ground!"

The dragon lowered their target to the floor, spreading the bottom of the floor in ice, sliding around. Pyroar wrapped itself in electricity to strike down, but Goodra slipped away from him as he struggled to pivot and try again.

"Oh no! Pyroar, melt the ground with Flamethrower! Then Rest!"

"I won't let you! Goodra, use Ice Beam at your Rain Dance, now!"

The slimy dragon beast raised their head firing frozen beams into the air. Most of the water droplets on Astrid's side of the field froze into hail, several of which dropped onto Pyroar with much more speed and precision than usual.

"Pyroar!" He's not giving him a chance to use Rest at all. But some of that hail will target Goodra. What's his plan?

"Goodra," pulling out his PokeBall. "Return!"

"Huh?"

Goodra nodded, going back into their Pokeball. "We'll wrap this up. Noivern, I chose you!"

Noivern flew out, eager and passionate to end the fight.

Ash, what are you up to? Noivern's four times weak to ice. I have to wrap this up. "Pyroar, slide through the ice and climb back to the ceilings to Rest!"

"After him, Noivern!"

The bat dragon flew at full force at the lion. Before Pyroar could go rest, Ash called on Noivern to use Acrobatics, who glowed light-blue and struck him airborne.

"Hang in there Pyroar! Intercept with Wild Charge and crunch down on their neck!"

The quadrupedal beast's electric aura slammed and persisted latching onto Noivern's back, even as the move subsided.

"You got this Noivern, keep flying through the Rain Dance!"

Claude noticed Ash's plan as well. Pyroar may not be as weak to Ice types, but the hail would still chip more since it's on top of Noivern.

And since I'm airborne, Pyroar can't take advantage of the Psychic Terrain boost from Rest! 'Quick Pyroar, jump off!"

"We won't let you get away! Noivern, use Acrobatics and don't let it reach the ground!"

Noivern covered itself in the same colored aura, dashing Pyroar straight through the air, circling down to pelt in back and forth in the air numerous times.

"Grr. Pyroar, burn and shoot all the hail at once, Flamethrower!"

Pyroar leaped up the Lumiose Tower powering above the Rain Dance!

"Noivern, use Boomburst to boost off the walls!"

The bat dragon unleashed its most powerful attack against the tough exterior of the walls, recoiling and kicking off before accelerating into the sky from its sound waves.

"Now! Dragon Claw!"

Noivern's claw channeled the green aura around itself into a sharper blade enhanced by the faster speed, slashing straight through the flamethrower blast and Pyroar in one hit, resulting in a massive explosion.

Astrid screamed in horror as the Royal Pokemon crashed down onto the pavement and the videos zoomed in to check his status.

"Pyroar?!"

Swirls were in his eyes.

"Pyroar is unable to battle!" The scoreboard blackened out one of her partners much to her dismay.

Astrid pulled out her PokeBall when Pyroar barely crawled over to her.

"You gave it all you had, old friend. Return," sending it back into her PokeBall.

Noivern flew back to Ash.

"You did it buddy! Good job getting us our first win."

"Pika-pika!"

Hawlucha jolted out his PokeBall, with the same glee, fist bumping his PokeBro in celebration.

"He's proud of Noivern for getting his first win in the tournament!"

James and Jessie tried to hold in their admiration as Malva wanted them to focus.

Serena and Bonnie high-fived. "He did it!"

"Now he just needs to get through Meowstic. There's a good reason she hasn't brought out Absol just yet."

Astrid pressed her PokeBall. "Meowstic, let's avenge our friend, reacquaint our opponent with your presence!"

The white Constraint Pokemon was about to land on the ice, quickly grabbing onto the balcony to avoid it.

Claude breathed a sigh of relief.

Astrid awkwardly laughed. "It's ice, not water."

Meowstic lightly argued back with her trainer, jumping down to step one foot into the ice, and immediately kicking herself back up to the balcony not have to deal with it again.

"Let's go two for two, Noivern! Dragon Claw!"

"Meowstic, Sucker Punch!"

The two lunged at each other with their upper limbs, but Meowstic's unexpected punch struck Noivern, who barely struck her away.

"Meowstic, use Psychic again on the Terrain!"

Meowstic's eyes glowed, releasing that same energy back into the ground.

"We won't let that stop us again! Use Acrobatics!"

"Use Psychic on the hail with one hand!"

Meowstic gathered as much hail as she could, collecting them all into one sphere, and a simple hand swung it down into Noivern, harming it for super effective damage!

"Now, use the other!"

Meowstic summoned the ice cracks from Pyroar's descent alongside the debris from the outdoor tables, cobbling up into an equally sized sphere.

"Dodge it, Noivern!"

"Strike their wings!"

Meowstic flew them both beside Noivern in pursuit. The Sound Wave Pokemon flew up, only for Meowstic to predict that and thrust them up to slam into both of their wings, watching them descend towards the floor.

"Noivern, no!"

"Is this the end for Noivern in this battle?"
