PERSONALITY
Ximena is a melancholic girl. She isn't depressed, nope, she just has this aura of a girl who's seen and heard too much and has a better understanding of the world. Ximena is a complex character when it comes down to it. When it's said that she's melancholic, it doesn't mean that she doesn't know how to smile. No. She knows how to have fun just like the next guy. But even when she smiles or laughs or haves fun, there's still that sad light shining in her eyes, as if she's a lot more older than she looks.
Ximena is an extremely kind soul, and a bit old fashioned to say at least. She likes modesty, and is perplexed by the modern generation's tendency to get wild. She's more on the enjoy it quietly kind of girl. She tags along with her friends to places, but all she does is just watch them have the wild fun. She likes to keep away from drama of possible at all. She has a weathered soul inside a young body, and much rather be seen cooking for her loved ones than go to a club and dance. Doesn't mean that she doesn't like to do those things once in a while, with some exceptions. She's never had outright hard fun in her life. Maybe she would come to love it one day, if the right person showed her the better side of the world and taught her how to have real fun.
This girl is extremely sharp, but she's way too trusting. She's independent but way too soft hearted. She also thirsts for knowledge. Knowledge of any and all kinds. She especially loves the myths. Everyone of them. Greek, Roman, Norse, etc. She likes reading or these stories and thinking of wild imaginations even though she knows it's futile. This girl right here is a huge dreamer. Dreams of fat away lands and once upon a times. She's content with having it all in her dream world. Because she knows the real world is a cruel place.
Ximena isn't easy to pîss off. In fact, it's so very rare that she even gets angry. You could call her a small bean and that would be accurate. Being rather a bit short, and having a rather too soft or a heart, she makes people want to always stay on her good side, just for the sake of it. She doesn't think it worth to get angry. When life's too short, you just don't have the time or energy to go throwing tantrums around. But if you just happened to mange to annoy her thoroughly, she can get a bit snappy and it would be hard to get back on her good side.
Her peers also find her a bit strange at times. She isn't afraid of death, doesn't even blink when death is mentioned. She isn't put off by seeing blood. She has this morbid fascination with death in a way, that makes others look at her like she's gone crazy, for a supposedly peaceful girl. When talking about death, and dead souls, she has a strange excited light in her eyes.
She's also the one to always have a soft smile on her lips. The soft smile, the melancholy in her eyes, all of that makes her look surprisingly like a sad angel, who knows the suffering of the world but yet cannot do anything about it as per law of the gods.

LIKES
▪ Ximena likes all sorts of things. She likes to acquire knowledge (through books) and that means she's an avid reader. She also likes the smell of the musty old books. It's just so comforting at times, when she's alone in her home. Reminds her of her grandmother.
▪ She likes night rather than Day. Dark rather than light.
▪ This girl likes sweet things. Tarts, pastries, cakes, chocolates. She isn't a hardcore sweet tooth, but nonetheless she'd be very happy if someone gave them to her.
▪ Having a lot of time on her hands, she's learned to use it for a favourable talent. She likes to try out DIY stuff and all that.
▪ She likes listening to the radio, rather than watching television.
▪ She also likes dressing in different types of clothes. If you look at her wardrobe, it would be full of clothes which are so different from each other.
▪ She loves the smell of cinnamon.
▪ Animal lover. I think she'll get on fine with Cerberus, also considering that he's from the dark world and everything about the dark peaks her interest.

DISLIKES
▪ She dislikes arguments. Or any thing that disturbs the peace around the air.
▪ She also dislikes drinking. In fact, she vowed never to drink again, after one incident which had her throwing up the next day with a huge headache. (supposedly her friends dragged her to a party where a guy slithered up next to her and forced her into drinking with his sweet talks. She's sworn off alcohol ever since.)
▪ Anyone badmouthing someone else behind their backs. If anyone complaints to her about someone else, she stops them right there. She doesn't want to hear it.
▪ Seeing animals hunted. She's a pure vegetarian you know.
▪ She also tends to dislike the idea of people losing their lives violently.
▪ Also dislikes being in crowded places. Lots of people, lots of death premonitions. Even though she handles a lot of charity events, she only rarely shows up and leaves right after.
POWERS
▪ she can sense when someone's about to die, or much much lifespan they have left. But she can never reveal it though. Something just stops her. She feels a deep loss when she feels a soul departing the living world. But by now, she knew it was just the natural order of things but she still couldn't help feeling helpless.
(this was the main reason for her melancholic Aura.)
▪ can bend shadows around her, concealing her for a short time.
(Though, she doesn't really have knowledge of it yet. She had done it once or twice unconsciously though, when she hadn't wanted to be seen by a few particular people at certain occasions. She's ruled it out as a freak accident, too weirder out and scared to think of what exactly it was that she had done. To hide out in shadows is too weird even for her, but she can't help the curiosity taking over her, though she's never been successful consciously.)

BLESSED BY
Thanatos, the god of death.
HISTORY
Ximena was an only child. (She had a sibling, a year younger but died during birth, though Ximena was never told about this.) Her parents adored her, her grandmother spoilt her. She was the most happiest child alive. That changed when she turned five. They lived in a rather small town, where it did have a hospital and all, but nothing more major scale. A fire had broken out in the middle of town. No one knows how. The mystery isn't yet solved. But the thing of it was, a fire station was only situated in the next town which was at least hour hour away. But not being able to afford that long, once they placed the call, the people themselves started to at least try to get the fire under control until the firemen reached. But then, a woman wailed, realising her child was still stuck inside One of the building. Not waiting another moment, Ximena's mother who knew the pain of loosing a child, dashed inside. Her father quick to follow his fool hardy wife. Her mom did find the child, but on that day, none of them escaped. Not that child. Not her parents. No one knows what happened. Supposedly a beam fell down obstructing their path of escape and everything just burnt down too quickly. That was the greatest and only tragedy to ever hit that small peaceful town.
Ximena's parents were hailed as brave souls. They were already respected enough around town she to their charity work. It was true. Ximena's family was a bit on the wealthy side, but they never flaunted their money. They were down to earth people.
Thanatos, who hated violent deaths, had happened to chance upon this incident. Knowing how brave the two people had been, he had decided to bless their child, to help her in the future. But was the blessing a curse on disguise?
Ximena started to feel death around her. She could feel the souls of humans departing. She could suddenly see how short a people's life span was. More importantly, she could see her beloved grandmother didn't have long to live either. After the Fire tragedy, life had more or less fine back to normal in the small town. But Ximena having gotten the brunt of it, stayed true to her kind hearted parents ways. She picked up on their charity works, and worked hard to make people happy, especially the poor people. She learned to be completely selfless. Her grandmother, who had taken up as her guardian, was only too proud of her granddaughter.
But Ximena knew the truth. Knew her granny didn't have much time left. Knew it, but couldn't prevent it. Couldn't warn her. Couldn't do anything. So she ended up always making her grandmother's life comfortable than needed. She grew to be dependable. Then it happened. When she turned 19, her granny passed away quietly, in her sleep. That day, no one cried harder than Ximena. No one felt as helpless as her. She knew it was coming, but she couldn't do anything.
Ximena hated interacting with people unnecessarily because of the same reason. She never wanted to feel helpless. Seeing people's life slip away, even though she knew about it.
She worked double time, to always lend support to the family of the people who she knew were going to die.

THOUGHTS ON SELECTION
At first, she felt ecstatic. Her Greek mythology was coming to life. Then she felt wary. Why would they invite someone as uninteresting as her? Then she started to panic. It was in the underworld, where there were a lot of dead people's souls. Would they forsake her, berrate her, hate her? Just because she knew they were going to die and couldn't help them? Would Her grandmother look at her with cold eyes? All thoughts of finding love fled her mind with those kinds of worries. But she decided to be brave as see where fate wanted to take her.
Also, her morbid fascination with death and darkness also started to overtake her and she started feeling excited all over again. Maybe she belonged to the underworld, where everyone are already dead. She wouldn't feel so hopeless there as she feels in the world of the living. These are her real thoughts of the selection. She's earning for a place to belong.
OTHERS
▪ She worked as a mortician, and being a mortician, it got her even more money. Money she spent on consoling the dead and the living. She anonymously did things to make it up to the family of the dead ones. She anonymously delivered bouquet of flowers to every gravestone on the anniversary of their death.
▪ She doesn't know how to defend herself whatsoever. Martial arts had never interested her much. She lived in a small town where everyone knew everyone. What was going to happen? But she did carry a pepper spray with her, in case she travelled anywhere far. And she doesn't have a mean swing. And a mean kick. Things she picked up from shows, nothing concrete though. She knows a guy's weak spot, the spot where the sun doesn't shine. Theoretically, she thinks she knows enough to be safe all time.
▪ Also, she's rather a bit short, but makes it up with her huge heart.
