Y/n’s POV:

“Shoot…”

The lights aren't turning back on.

Harsh clashes of thunder and rain can be heard from outside the apartment, and the AC had shut down.

A power outage.

With a disappointed sigh, I collapse onto the couch, leaning my head against the back of it. Thankfully, the temperature inside the apartment won't drop or rise, even without the AC. The blissful autumn weather is the perfect medium to balance out harsh weather changes. However, something tells me that this intense thunder storm will last a while.

I look down at my digital watch and see that the time reads 6:55 pm. Hopefully, Reigen will be back soon. For now, I gaze out the window from the couch as I wait for his arrival.

Around fifteen or so minutes later, Reigen bursts through the door in a dramatic, Reigen-like fashion. He's soaking wet and panting heavily, leaning against the doorframe.

“Hey… Y/n…” Reigen wheezes, catching his breath. “Huh… The power's out…”

He closes the door and strips his wet coat from his body before hanging it up. The rest of his clothes are still wet. He takes notice of the fact that I'm kneeling on the couch and clinging to the back of it as I strangely state out the window. He smiles with amusement. “What are you doing?”

I turn my head around and blankly blink at him. “Checking out the storm. You're soaking, Reigen.”

Reigen takes off his shoes and sets them by the door. “Yeah, I thought that if I ran fast enough, the rain wouldn't hit me as much as it would if I was walking normally. I was wrong.”

I hold back a laugh. “I can tell.”

“I'm going to change real quick,” he says, moving in the direction of his bedroom.

“I'll be here waiting.” I smile and get comfortable on the couch. When Reigen returns, I pat the seat next to me, encouraging him to sit down. He does. I smirk when I notice he's wearing that ridiculous bear sweatshirt. “How was work?”

Reigen sighs deeply as he allows himself to relax. “Insane. Today’s client was being haunted by a whole basketball team of spirits at the high school. Thankfully, Mob took care of it just as well as he usually does.”

I raised an eyebrow. “How was a whole basketball team haunting one spot?”

“There was a major bus accident on the day of an important basketball game,” Reigen explains to me. “The rival team all died on their way over and decided it would be better to be late to the game than to not have shown up at all. They didn't realize they were dead until it was too late.”

“That's so sad.” I run my fingers through my hair. “Hopefully, they're in a better place now.”

Reigen nods solemnly before turning to me. “Wanna massage? You seem a little tense.”

I feel my face flushing at his offer. “U-Um…”

Reigen gently moves me to the floor, now sitting where I was once was. I'm in-between his knees as he places his feet on the floor. Cracking his knuckles, he says, “May I? Free of charge.”

“Sure, go ahead.”

He begins to massage my shoulders and upper back. He was right in saying I'm tense. As his rough fingers press into my skin, small groans emit from my lips. It hurts a bit.

“Been under any stress lately?” Reigen wonders. His hands are like magic, and it's fairly obvious he has experience in this particular field.

“Yeah,” I say with a sigh. “My boss has been expecting more and more from me lately. It's been a lot.”

Reigen hums in response, pressing even harder and deeper than he was before. “I’m sorry, honey. That sounds horrible. I wonder if Mob ever feels that way sometimes.”

“Mob's a good kid,” I tell him, melting into my boyfriend's touch. I lean against the front of the couch. “He's crazy talented, too. Does he know that you…?”

“That I don't have psychic abilities?” Reigen finishes for me, shaking his head. “No, not that I know about. He still follows my lead, regardless of everything.”

“You should tell him someday. I think he deserves to know the truth.”

“I will,” he promises. “I just don't think it's the right time yet.”

“Ok.”

I let Reigen work his magic, removing my stress and tensions like no other. Despite all the pain, I actually find myself starting to feel better. Once Reigen can no longer find any knots in my cramped muscles, he relaxes and invited me back on the couch. I sit beside him, leaning my head against his shoulder. It's still dark in the room with the exception of an emergency lantern I've already had lit. It's so peaceful here.

“Do you ever think about what it would be like to start a family?” I ask him after a moment of silence.

Reigen thinks for a moment. I can feel his neck growing hot. He then mumbles, “Sometimes. Maybe not as often as you, though.”

I hum in response, trying to think of what to say next. Reigen’s anxiously fiddling with his thumbs, so I reach my hand forward. Our fingers lock.

“You know… you'd make a great father someday.”

Reigen chuckles lightly. “R-Really? You think so?”

“I know so.”

Reigen scoffs and rubs his thumb along my hand in repeatative circles. “C'mon, don't be ridiculous. I'm not that great with kids.”

“You take care of Mob just fine,” I tell him. “ No matter which way you put it, he looks up to you. You're his mentor, Rei, and he respects you for that.”

“I know. It's just…” Reigen leans his head against mine. His brow furrows. “I don't feel like I'm the right man to raise a kid if his own. I'm not the greatest example or role model, and I run a crappy business that thrives off of scamming people.”

“I don't care, to me you're perfect.” I gently squeeze his hand. “No one else I know has ever trained a young esper, and the way you do it is successful. You're experienced and you got a wonderful kid to appreciate all that you do for him. I think you could easily apply those skills on your future child.”

The way Reigen snuggles closer to me lets me know I've said all the right things.

“You really think I could do it?” he asks. I can feel his jawline raising into a smile against my head.

“Absolutely,” I answer, smiling back at him.

“If possible, I'd love to have you by my side the entire time.”

I sigh contently as my imagination takes me to a future of life and the blessing of children. “I'd be happy to do that for you.”

“Wonderful…” Reigen plants a loving kiss on the top of my head. “We should do that someday. I think it’d be good for us.”

“I think so, too,” I agree, looking up at him.

Reigen brushes a strand of my hair behind my ear, gazing at me longingly. “You know, you say all this stuff about me being a good parent, but… I think you'd make a fantastic parent if not better than me.”

I smile bashfully. “You really think so?”

Reigen grins at me, repeating back the words I said to him earlier before pulling me in for a kiss. “Darling, I know so.”

It's been a while! Updates are likely still going to be slow since I'm hyperfixated on Breaking Bad right now and have one shots for my Varian One Shots book to take care of (Tangled The Series stuff)

I hope you all enjoyed ❤️
