Judgement Day

I saw this coming

Like how I knew the sun would set, I knew this was going to happen

That in the end

We had to accept

The day everything would change

Under a sky of falling rain.

If I told you what I'd seen back then

Your eyes full of fire

Like the kind that others would admire

Would you think I was scared?

Would you have known that I had known it would come to this day when we had to say

"We can't be together"?

Because I'd known

When your lips met mine, you closed your eyes

So you couldn't see mine of jaded

Desperate

Ice, hoping in vain I'd be the one

Whose heart you'd rightfully claim.

I knew

That I was different

In the ways few would describe as "one of a kind"

But please

As I beg on my knees

Don't let the rain be the only thing I hear

Don't let the same words comfort my ears

I want to know why we didn't work out

So be the one to give me the plain truth.

All I ask

Is for you not to be sad

For crying would cloud your words

And though the sky above us

May be murky and grey

At least have your judgement stay clear

As diamonds, for

Your gift of clarity

Would be enough for me

To love the world a little bit more.

-the lover

I think this was my first romantic poem where I didn't really over exaggerate or use a character to convey the words.
