In this AU Kakashi dosn't wear a mask, yet. This story is going slowwwwwww.

Kakashi trailed behind Obito and listened as the boy and Rin was converse. He noticed Obito blush at one of Rin's comments and Kakashi processed this information and took note to ask Minato sensei later. He was still thinking about what other "emotions" he didn't know about when Obito and Rin stopped and turn around.

"Bakashi! Are you getting slow?"

"Let's go eat some dango!"

Kakashi let the same warm feeling overcome him and he smiled. (Rin blushed, Obito's grinned.) "Ok." And Kakashi walked beside them, a soft smile on his lips.

But at the back of Kakashi's mind was...

How long will this last?

Kakashi shoved the image of Orochimaru away and stepped into the dango shop, happy to finally find what they called family.

< Outside the Gates of Konoha, at a certain lab >

"Experiment 207 lived Orochimaru sama!"

The snake man's eyes snapped open and walked to the once filled case and placed his palm on it. "Excellent, excellent! Maybe Sakumo's DNA did help after all! my loyal followers!"

"Hai!"

"We are getting 207 back!" he announced with a maniacal laughter.

"After all..." he smirked, "A demon is far too precious to let go...".

"But! We must not be rash for if we do without a plan we may fall. So now... We shall bide our time and build up, maybe find a few... alliances or allies."

< At Kakashi's home >

Kakashi placed a picture of their team gently on his bedside cupboard and continued cleaning the house.

"Hey kid, you sure you don't want to play with the others at the playground like others usually do?" the voice in his head said.

"I rather train or read Akuma sama."

"Hiash, just call me by my name would you? And without honorifics 'cause I'm basically living inside you and it's just weird for my house to call me that. Plus, I've been like your friend all your life so loosen up kid, I'm cool."

"Thank you Okami!"

*smirk* "No problemo kid."

And Kakashi happily grinned.

He was 7 years old.

"Kakashi." A voice came. He turned around calmly to face an anbu looking down at him. "Hokage sama wishes to see you." Nodding, Kakashi grabbed the anbu's hand and they teleported to the hokage tower.

"Ah, Kakashi." The hokage acknowledged, smoke drifting from his lips. "I wanted to ask you if you wanted to take the chunnin exams." Kakashi rose his eyebrows in surprise and politely nodded. "It would be an honor, hokage sama."

Sarutobi gave a small smile and closed his eyes, and continued. "One problem though, is that you need a surname Kakashi, and that's what you are here for. Today I'm giving you the rightful surname of 'Hatake' as you indeed have his blood running through you and have an uncanny resemblance to him. Do you accept or not?"

Kakashi paused as he recalled the grave and a feeling of determination ran through him. To restore the name of Hatake Sakumo. Bowing he gave his answer, "Thank you Hokage sama, I accept the surname of Hatake."

Sarutobi motioned him to come closer and sign his documents of changing his last name and chuckled.

"See you at the examinatons, Hatake Kakashi. Now we need to do another test... Minato. Come in."

< A week later >

"WOW! We're taking the chunnin exams already?!" Obito gaped, Rin just as shocked. Minato nodded and glanced at Kakashi who was neutral. "It was hokage sama's suggestion. He has seen all of your," seen your ,"abilities and thought you guys were ready.".

Rin had a suspicious look on her face. "But we barely did any mission! Is it not required to do 8 missions at least before entering? And Minato sensei, I don't even think you have seen any of us in action...".

Obito nodded vigorously beside her and looked over at Kakashi to see his reaction to only see the same (rather pretty and handsome) neutral face. He growled still slightly annoyed by Kakashi's lack of emotion. I'll make it my third goal/dream to make Bakashi a normal person!

Minato gulped and sighed. Some genins were just too smart and suspicious for their own good.

Flashback

Kakashi stood in front of the hokage and Minato stood beside the door, watching carefully. The six year old looked blankly at the hokage, waiting for the man to start. "As you know Kakashi, you've been a genius at the academy since you entered, even more than many chunin and today I wanted to test your abilities and see how strong you are, not academics wise."

"Minato here will be your tester and opponent, Training ground 3 now." the hokage announced, promptly leaving the room. Minato followed after but before leaving he caught Kakashi opening the window and jumping out. Eyes widening in slight worry, he looked out of the window to see Kakashi running across rooftops at a jonin's speed to the training grounds without sweating.

"Impressive isn't he?" the hokage smirked, standing beside Minato.

"Very."

With the Hokage they flashed to the training ground in a swirl of leaves, Kakashi looking over towards them unsurprised. "Shall we begin?"

Kakashi walked further away and they got into their fighting stances, eyes locking. The hokage stood at the side with his hand raised.

"And... Begin!"

(I cannot do fight scenes at all...)

"Raiju Harishi no Jutsu." (Lightning beast running attack) Kakashi whispered. The hokage's and minato's eyes widened as a beast made of lightning formed from Kakashi's chakra and charged forward.

"Doton: Doryuheki! (Earth Release: Earth-style wall!)" Minato yelled. The beast blasted a hole through the tall mud wall, leaving smoke that blocked minato's view.

"Doton: Dosekiryu. (Earth release: Earth and stone dragon.)" Kakashi gritted out, jumping out of the smoke with a large earth dragon behind him. Minato quickly threw one of his famed kunai onto the earth wall, "Hiraishin no jutsu!" , teleporting onto the wall behind Kakashi.

Kakashi flipped mid-air and stopped Minato's kunai from hitting him, when he heard, "Kage Bushin no Jutsu!" A 'Minato' flew at him and suddenly exploded. "Bushin Bakuha! (Clone Great explosion!)" Kakashi landed on the ground with a few injuries littering his body, and gritted his teeth.

"Chidori!"

It's still the incomplete version of chidori of course because he doesn't have the sharingan to help him...
