Chapter 6: New Bond

It was probably midnight, but I didn't care. I continued running towards that cave before it collapsed on Kiba.

I finally reached a cave and quickly entered it. I tried to move my left arm, but it wouldn't budge.

I was confused, but then her words echoed through my mind. 'This is going to paralyze you in a few minutes.'

Damnit, what perfect timing.

I walked further into the cave and I saw Akamaru stuck under a boulder.

"Akamaru!" I exclaimed.

He looked up and whined, as if he was asking for help.

I started pushing the boulder with my body weight and my right arm.

The boulder budged after a few seconds and Akamaru jumped on me, licking my face. It was his way of thanking me.

"I'm glad to see you too, Akamaru," I chuckled. "But our reunion can wait. Kiba is still in here and we have about-,"

A loud rumble cut me off.

"Shit!"

Akamaru barked and jumped down. He started walking, but then stopped and turned his head.

"You want me to follow you?"

He nodded, so I followed and he was leading the way towards Kiba.

"Kiba?!" I called.

"I'm right here!" He shouts back.

I looked around trying to figure out where 'right here' was and Akamaru led me down to an area that was covered in ice.

I suddenly saw Kiba trapped underneath rocks. He was also stuck to the ground underneath a thick layer of ice.

"Kiba!" I shouted and ran towards him. "Are you okay?"

"Save that for later," He said desperately. "We need to get out of here. We don't have much time left,"

"Right," I nodded.

I struggled, trying to break the ice on him. Akamaru was even trying to break it.

I grabbed a kunai and realized my right arm was starting to feel weird.

"Damnit!" I hissed and quickly stabbed the ice with it. It cracked and then Kiba broke free. I kicked the rocks away from Kiba and the rumbling got louder.

"Kiba, it's going to collapse! We need to go now!" I shouted.

He picked up Akamaru and we both started to spring. We were halfway out and I felt my legs starting to feel weird.

Does her attack paralyze my entire body?

"Kiba!" I shouted to get his attention.

"What?" He turned around.

"Just go on ahead," I said. "The scroll is in my pouch. Save yourself, because I can barely move my body. I won't be any use,"

Kiba shook his head.

"No, I'm not letting that happen," He said sharply. "You saved me, so now it's time I repaid you for that,"

"Kiba, no-"

"Shush,"

He secured Akamaru in his hood and then quickly ran back to grab me. He lifted me up bridal style and I turned back, seeing the rocks fell where I was. The rocks then collapsed faster and I felt my heart racing.

"We won't make it," I said, my heart still racing.

"Just shut up, okay? Don't think like that. We're almost out of here," Kiba retorts.

Now we were out of the cave and he fell to the ground from exhaustion and relief. The cave finally collapsed and he was panting.

"That...that was close," Kiba said.

"Yeah..." I trail off.

Akamaru leaped out of his hood and whined at us worriedly.

"I'm okay Akamaru," Kiba smiled at him. "I'm just tired from how much we were running and from fighting that girl earlier,"

"What girl?" I ask. "Did she use ice to fight you?"

Kiba nods. "Did you run into her too?"

"Yeah, I did. She's the reason why my arms and legs are paralyzed right now," I answered.

I explained to Kiba everything that went down between her and I.

"So how did you get trapped?" I asked him.

"She used a genjutsu," Kiba answered. "I thought I saw Kurenai under some rocks, but then it turned out to be that girl and she was talking about the scroll,"

He caught his breath and lifted me up since I couldn't move now. I felt embarrassed to be this helpless.

We walked around to find some shelter and I told him about how I ran off after him as soon as I noticed that he wasn't coming back.

I could tell that he felt bad for not trusting me after I told him this. He didn't say anything though.

We stopped near a stream and he sat me down on the grass.

"I think her attack works like hypothermia," Kiba noted.

"Why do you think that?"

"Your body feels really cold. I'll set up a fire so we can warm up,"

Damn that girl. I swear, one day I'll give her a taste of her own medicine.

Akamaru lied down next to me and pressed his body against my legs as if he was trying to warm me up.

Kiba caught some fish too and cooked it for us in the fire he made.

I still couldn't get over how weak and useless I felt right now since I was paralyzed.

He handed the fish over to me and then looked embarrassed. "Oh, oops I forgot you can't feed yourself,"

"Um...can you..." I trail off, cheeks turning pink from embarrassment.

He nods and he started feeding me.

His cheeks turned pink as well from embarrassment.

God this was so awkward.

Thankfully I ate quickly so he was able to eat his fish.

It was silent for a few minutes until Akamaru barked.

"Um...do you still not trust me?" I asked Kiba.

"I guess I do now," He said. "You did risk your life for me just now, even though you barely met me,"

"So, does this make us friends?"

"I guess it does,"

He didn't look satisfied with his fish and disposed of the remains. Akamaru was eating some food that Kiba brought for him.

It was silent again and Kiba looked a little awkward again. "Uh, sorry for not being exactly friendly to you,"

I would shrug, but I was incapable of doing that.

"It's fine," I said.

"What was your life back at the Sand Village?" He asked.

"It was pretty nice. I had two friends that remind me of Naruto and Sakura," I chuckled.

"You said your mother died, right?" Kiba asked.

I nodded.

"How are you still so cheery after that? If I were in your position, I don't think I'd be able to remain as level-headed as you are right now,"

I looked down. "I have way too much anger towards the killer. I am sad, but at the same time, I'm more pissed that someone killed her just like that. I'm going to find them one day and I'll make them suffer,"

I would've been clenching my fists, but the paralysis says no, of course.

Kiba looked surprised.

"Well, just don't go after them without knowing what they're capable of. I wouldn't want to see you get killed or something,"

"I plan to get strong so I can get my revenge on the killer," I said.

I started telling Kiba about my life in the Sand Village. I told him about Mom, Kotone, Team Nine, my rivalry with Kankuro, and I even told him about my antics when I'd sneak away from the bookstore with Make-Out Paradise because Naoki was able to charm the girl that was working there.

"I don't have a father, but my Mom is scary enough," He chuckled.

"My mom was scary too," I smiled. "She's always had such a temper and she was so stubborn. I inherited it too, but I think her temper is way worse than mine is,"

"But Kakashi-Sensei is seriously your dad? I thought if he were to have a kid, they would end up with his silver hair." Kiba asked.

I nodded. "I was surprised too, but I got a closer look at him. I actually look a lot like him, but instead, I have brown hair just like my mom did."

A few moments later, Kiba decided we should get some rest. He felt bad that my body felt cold, so he gave me his jacket. I blushed over him insisting that I take it, and then he finally fell asleep.

I started to fall asleep myself, but I still couldn't help but wonder who that criminal from the Land of Hot Water was.

All I do know is that when I find them, they will pay for what they did to my mother.
