Chapter 4: First Mission
Dad came over, with a look of mischief on his face. "I see you're having a lover's quarrel already,"
"What?!" Kankuro and I both shouted at the same time. "NO!"
Kankuro looked away. "I'm not interested in dimwits, especially this one."
I narrowed my eyes at him and looked the opposite direction. "And I wouldn't date a fool like him,"
We both glared at each other after I said that and Dad chuckled. Kankuro left and he got serious now.
"Anyway Mika," He said. "I came over here to tell you that the Hokage wants to give you a mission with four other people because they need help. Three of them are the same age as you and their teacher will be tagging along,"
"Great," I grinned enthusiastically. "When do I start?"
"Tomorrow morning," Dad replied. "After all of the teams are registered for the Chunin Exams,"
I could feel excitement surging through my body.
"I am SO ready for this!" I grinned.
"Don't get ahead of yourself," He chuckled. "You never know how dangerous a mission could be, so be prepared for the worst,"
"I know Dad, I've had it happen to me before," I replied. "I went on a mission with that kid I told you about, who got picked on. I was taken hostage and my captor was provoking him and he suddenly lost it,"
I pity that man. He died after he suffered the sand coffin. Gaara didn't care that I was taken as hostage, but what he did care about is how that man was calling him weak and useless. He learned quickly that Gaara isn't one to be messed with.
Dad was kind of surprised. We both walked home and I saw he had some takeout on the counter.
"I didn't feel like cooking, so I just ordered some takeout from our barbecue restaurant," He said.
I didn't care either way, I just wanted some food right now since all I ate was Ichiraku today. I grabbed a small container of food and took my shower after eating. I was nervous about my mission and I needed to make sure I would do well so I can earn the trust of others.
~Time Skip~
The next morning was pretty eventful today. I ended up yelling at some guy named Neji, Sasuke and some dude named Rock Lee were trying to fight, Rock Lee kept flirting with Sakura, Naruto got angry about the flirting, and when Naruto tried to fight him, Rock Lee decided he wanted to challenge me, Neji, or Sasuke.
Right now, I was walking to the Hokage's Tower to meet up with the team I'm supposed to accompany for the mission.
I realized I was lost in thoughts and bumped into the door.
"Ouch," I muttered and stood up, hoping no one saw that.
I walked in and saw an older woman who had crimson colored eyes, a boy with the most cutest puppy on his shoulder, a girl with the byakugan, and another boy who had spiky hair and sunglasses. I already knew the girl was a Hyuga since she has the byakugan.
"Here she is," The Hokage noted and they all looked at me.
The boy with the puppy had a bit of pink dusting his cheeks and the girl shyly looked at me.
"So, you're Kakashi's daughter," The woman noted.
I nodded.
"Wait a minute," The boy with the puppy said. "You're Kakashi-Sensei's daughter?"
I nodded.
"Why didn't we know about you before if you're his daughter?" The boy with the glasses asked while eyeing the Sand headband on my arm.
"To keep a long story short, I lived in the Sand Village with my mother and she died. She told Lord Kazekage that she wanted me to live with him if anything happened, so now I'm here," I answered.
"Did you know about Kakashi-Sensei?" The boy with the puppy asked.
"Nope. Just met him yesterday," I replied.
The older woman now spoke. "Let's introduce ourselves to Mika. I'm Kurenai Yuhi,"
"I-I'm H-Hinata Hyuga," The girl introduced quietly.
I could tell she was terribly shy and I found it kind of adorable.
"Shino Aburame," The boy with the glasses spoke.
"Kiba Inuzuka," The other boy said.
"Now that you're all familiar I can explain the mission," The Hokage said. "You need to bring this scroll over to Lady Mizukage in the Mist Village. It holds very crucial information that cannot be shared with anyone else and it can't even be looked at by you guys,"
He opened a drawer from his desk and looked at me. "Mika, I'll be entrusting you to keep it safe the entire time."
I sweat-dropped and took the scroll. "Alright then..."
I put the scroll in my pouch and Kiba spoke now.
"I'm sorry, but why should we trust her with it? She's from a different village. We hardly know her," Kiba asked.
I was offended and looked down.
"Kiba, that was rude," Hinata spoke quietly again.
I had to remember, they wouldn't trust me just yet because I'm from the Sand Village.
"I'm sure we can trust Kakashi's daughter. You're dismissed to leave for the mission, but I need to talk to Kurenai real quick before you leave." Lord Hokage replied and we all exited his office except for Kurenai-Sensei.
We waited in the hall and I leaned against the wall. I saw that Dad walked by and I got his attention.
"Dad!" I said.
"Yes?" He asked, giving the others with me a curious glance.
"I got my mission! I'm going to be escorting this scroll!" I boasted, cheerfully.
"Well, just be careful. Be sure to cooperate with your team or that can cost you the mission and your life." Dad warned and had a bit of a sad look flash in his eyes after he said that.
"I know, I'll be careful," I hugged him.
He returned the hug a bit awkwardly since he's still getting used to the fact that he has a daughter now.
Kurenai walked out of the office and gave us a smile. "Let's go. We've only got three days to to the Hidden Mist Village,"
So we left the Hokage's Tower and started walking to the gates. I could tell Kiba and Shino were both keeping a close eye on me since I was new and had the important scroll. Hinata was more trusting towards me.
We started walking by a spot in the forest that was close to the Hidden Sand Village and I remembered that it was where I first met Team Nine. I smiled while remembering when I first met them.
"She needs to hurry up already!" I groaned.
"Be patient, Maka," Naoki said. "You're going to make yourself age faster by worrying so much and it's not attractive for young ladies to get grey hair already,"
I could tell he was teasing, but he still pissed me off by calling me the wrong name.
"First off it's Mika thank you very much," I retort. "Second, I'm only twelve. I'm not getting a grey hair anytime soon you jerk,"
"I see you're a fiesty one. Too bad you're not older, otherwise I'd totally date you," Naoki chuckled, making me roll my eyes.
"Shut your mouth Naoki," Rika intervened, getting fed up with Naoki's antics. "Quit trying to rile Mika up for no reason. Do you like her or something?"
"What?! No!" Naoki denied. "I'm into older women and I was just trying to test her to make sure she's not a weakling,"
Rika smirked, almost resembling her older brother. She wasn't as uncaring as he was though.
"Oh? Like you?"
Naoki fumed, causing her to snicker. "I'm not weak, you wannabe puppet master! You are!"
Rika's aura changed into a deadly one, causing me to sweat-drop. She punched him in the head and Naoki started to sweat nervously seeing that she was angry now.
"Do you want to repeat what you just said?"
"N-No,"
"Good and at least I didn't pee my pants when Kankuro brought his puppet to the academy," Rika sat down, starting to calm down.
"Hey shut up! You're being a total hypocrite!" Naoki exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at her. "You cried when Gaara got mad at us!"
Rika's face started to flush. "Do you want to start something?!"
"As a matter of fact, I do!" Naoki retorted.
"You two are going to be the death of me," A woman walked in, sighing at the sight.
She had golden blonde hair that went to her mid back and had side bangs. She had forest green eyes that shined like an emerald and immediately, Naoki started to swoon over her.
"Oh my god! You're so beautiful!" He shouted and took her hands into his and got on his knees.
"I'm Kotone Hayashi, I'm your sensei and I expect ALL of you to get along," She said and grimaced at Naoki. "And get your hands off me kid!"
Rika shut her eyes and her brow twitched. She grabbed Naoki by the ear and dragged him away.
"She's just playing hard to get! I'm the manliest man here who'll win her heart!" Naoki exclaimed with a cocky grin.
Rika punched him on the head again and scolded him. "She's an elite jounin you fool, stop being such a pervert!"
Kotone wanted us to introduce ourselves and Naoki went first.
"I'm Naoki Amari! I like a lot of things, especially you and sushi," He started, making Rika and I groan loudly. "I hate it when Rika pulls me away from women I flirt with and I hate it when people chew loudly. My goal is to be the Kazekage and I'll surpass everyone, including you Rika!"
"Arrogant much?" I mutter.
Kotone's emerald eyes landed on me. "Since you're muttering, you're next,"
I introduced myelf and Rika was next now.
"I'm Rika Itami. I live with my adoptive parents and I hate it when people keep me waiting, I hate loud people, I hate perverts," She shot a glare at Naoki. "And I don't like it when people interrupt me while I'm speaking,"
"Name something you do like," Kotone sweat-dropped.
"I like puppetry and potato chips," She said. "I'm going to be the next puppet master and use my skill to track my brother down,"
"Your puppets suck." Naoki said.
She glared at him and threw a bunch of needles in his direction, which he dodged in time. I even got a bit scared of her temper. "Oh, they suck, do they? Let me send one out on you right now and we'll see what you have to say about that."
Kotone looked nervous. "Okay, let's just calm down and get on with our new training exercise without killing each other."
I always knew about Rika's temper. You never want to anger her unless you have a death wish.
Even if Naoki's a fool and Rika's scary, I knew we would all become close friends.
"Mika," Someone snapped me out of my daydreaming. "Why are you so quiet?"
I saw it was Kiba who asked me.
"Oh, I was just remembering something from the Sand Village."
I wondered if Rika would ever find her brother. I don't know who he is because she's not one to open up about her past, but all I knew is that he's missing and she's intent on finding him one day to bring him back.
