Chapter 3: New Team

I got a better look at the two people who had scared the hell out of me. One was a blonde boy who closely resembled Dad's teacher. I wasn't going to lie, he was pretty cute and his eyes were really pretty.

The other was a girl who had long pink hair and green eyes.

My cheeks started to flush when the blonde started staring at me.

"Sorry," Dad smirked. "I got lost on the path of life,"

I would've laughed, but I couldn't stop blushing.

"Path of life my ass!" The blonde shouts.

"Sensei, you can't keep using those excuses!" The pinkette retorted.

"Who's the girl?" A new voice asked.

I looked to see who it was and now my blushing was getting worse. I was so red that I'd put cherries to shame.

A boy with raven hair and onyx eyes. He stared at me with curiosity and I felt like my body was going to catch on fire if he stared at me for any longer.

"This is your new teammate, Mika," Dad said to them and turned to me. "Introduce yourself to them by telling them your likes, dislikes, goals, and hobbies,"

I started to get nervous when they looked at me. I wasn't bothered by the girl, but having two attractive boys staring at me had me nervous.

"I'm Mika Is-I mean Hatake," I stuttered. "My likes are food, art, reading, and animals. My dislikes are when people treat others terribly for no reason, and when people ask me to draw a picture of them,

Before I could continue, I was cut off. They all looked confused now.

"Wait, did you just say Hatake?" The blonde asks. "Kakashi-Sensei, why does she have your last name?!"

"She's my daughter, Naruto," Dad sighed.

"Daughter?!" The blonde and the pinkette shouted at the same time.

So, the blonde's name is Naruto. I could've sworn I've read that name in a book before.

"Now that I look at her," Naruto got close to my face, studying it. "She does have your looks, minus the hair color,"

I started to blush again and backed away from Naruto.

"I'll explain later, just let Mika continue her introduction," Dad sighed.

"My hobbies are reading, drawing, and origami. As for my goals, it's to improve my skills and..find the answer to my question," I finished.

My question was, who killed my mother? I didn't say this out loud, but when I find who did it, they're going to have hell to pay.

"What kind of books do you read?" The pinkette asks.

"Make Out Paradise," I replied.

"Oh great..." She muttered.

Dad and Naruto both sweat-dropped.

"Okay," Dad cleared his throat. "Introduce yourselves to Mika and we can start a new training exercise,"

"I'm Naruto Uzumaki and I'm going to be the next Hokage! Believe it!" Naruto introduced loudly, reminding me of Naoki.

"I'm Sakura Haruno," The girl smiled.

"Sasuke Uchiha," The raven-haired boy said.

Naruto now turned to Dad. "What's our new training exercise? Are you going to teach me a new jutsu?!"

I could see the outline of a smirk forming on Dad's mask.

"Your training for today...will be helping Mika find some new furniture and decorations for her new room,"

"WHAT?!" Naruto shouted, with disappointment.

"I thought you were going to have a training session to prepare for the Chunin Exams," Sakura said.

Sasuke was silent.

"I'll leave you to it," Dad said with a closed eye smile and disappeared with a "poof."

I chuckled seeing how stunned Naruto was.

"This is pointless," Sasuke scoffed.

Dad suddenly came back and handed me money to get some furniture.

"You're helping and that's final,"

He poofed away again.

"Hn,"

"Well, where should we start?" Sakura asked.

"I guess we can start by finding me a bed. I need a place to sleep after all," I said.

Sakura led me to a furniture store in the Leaf Village. She claimed that this place had the best prices.

Naruto and Sasuke followed us, wishing they weren't doing this. I kind of felt bad, but I guess Dad thought this would be a good opportunity for me to get to know them.

We looked around the store and I found a queen-sized mattress with a black bed frame. I settled on that along with a matching nightstand, dresser, and bookshelf.

Naruto and Sasuke ended up carrying the heavy boxes. Naruto was struggling as Sakura led me to a decoration store.

"Shouldn't we drop these off first?" Naruto asked.

"For once, I agree with Naruto," Sasuke added.

"Okay, let's go do that then," I said and led the way to my new apartment. I was going to walk in, but it was locked and I realized Dad forgot to give me a key.

I knocked on the door and Dad answered.

"Yo,"

"You forgot to give me a key and we're dropping these off," I said.

"Oh, right," Dad said and handed me a key.

We left after that and Sakura was now leading the way to a decoration store.

"So, what's the story, Mika?" Sakura asked.

"What do you mean?" I reply.

"You know, how did you get here and why didn't Kakashi-Sensei say anything about you before?" She clarified.

"Oh, well, my mother and I lived in the Sand Village previously," I started. "She never spoke about Dad and she died just yesterday and apparently she left a will behind stating that I was to live with him if anything happened to her,"

"So you didn't know anything about Kakashi-Sensei?" Naruto asked.

"No, just met him today," I said.

"I'm sorry about your mother," Sakura looked at me with sympathy.

No tears. Not today.

"I'm supposed to go back to the Sand to attend her funeral after Lord Kazekage figures everything out," I add.

When we got to the decoration store, I picked out some royal purple bedding and black bedsheets. I also picked out some purple curtains, tan decoration pillows, some white Christmas lights, and picture frames to hang up pictures later on.

Sakura insisted that Naruto carry my bags, even though I told her it was fine. He groaned in response, only to get punched on the head by Sakura and she yelled at him for being "lazy" and "rude".

I chuckled because they reminded me of Naoki and Rika.

"Well, that's it then. We just need to go back to my house so I can help Dad clean out my new room," I said.

I walked inside my new apartment and had Naruto put everything down near the couch.

"So this is Kakashi-Sensei's house," Naruto remarked and looked around.

"We better get a real training exercise out of this," Sasuke grunted and left the apartment.

I had the feeling that he didn't like me.

"Don't mind him, Mika. He's just grumpy," Naruto put his hand on my shoulder and left with Sakura.

I walked to my new room and saw Dad already had everything out of it. He just had the boxes with my new furniture inside of it and I saw he was reading the instructions to something already.

"Do you have everything you need?" He asked as I sat down next to him.

"Yes," I answered. "What are you trying to set up right now?"

"The bed frame,"

We both read the instructions and put everything together. He helped me put up the lights since I was too short to reach and then he went to the living room to grab my bags.

"Did Naruto complain the whole time?" He asks, with a chuckle.

"Sort of, he complained about having to carry everything and that earned a punch from Sakura,"

"Sounds like them,"

After putting my room together, he looked around and then at the clock.

"Looks like you still have some time to actually train with them," He said. "You should go find them and tell them that they can train with you now."

"Okay,"

I left to go find them. I already saw them walking around and I caught up with them.

"Please don't tell me Kakashi-Sensei has more 'training' for us," Naruto groaned, making Sakura shoot him an irritated look.

"Don't be so rude Naruto," She scolded and smiled at me. "We'll be happy to help!"

"Count me out," Sasuke retorted.

I laughed. "No, don't worry. Dad wanted me to tell you guys that he wants you guys to train and that I would be joining you,"

"Good!" Naruto exclaimed and we walked to a training ground.

We trained for about twenty minutes and somehow ended up helping a kid who was getting picked on.

"Well well," I said when I got a better look at who was picking on the children. "If it isn't Kankuro of The Sand,"

He turned around and started to give me that stupid smirk of his and I was now glaring at him.

"I'm happy to see you too, Mika," Kankuro chuckled, knowing he was annoying me.

I ignored it.

"What the hell do you think you're doing? Picking on little kids," I retort.

There was a lot of tension between us. Sakura and Naruto were sweat-dropping at this, not expecting to see this side of me.

"Maybe if you kept your village under control, I wouldn't have to 'pick on kids'," Kankuro shrugged.

"First off, it's my first day here and I don't even know the kid. I'm just getting annoyed with you because you're bothering him!" I started to raise my voice.

Naruto was about to attack him, but then a rock was thrown at him. We all looked to see who had thrown the rock and I saw it was Sasuke sitting in a tree. Sasuke started to speak but then was cut off by a familiar ominous voice.

"Kankuro stop," Gaara said. "You're a disgrace to our village,"

"Gaara she was the one who-" Kankuro started.

"Shut up or I'll kill you," Gaara retorts, keeping his voice calm.

I shivered slightly when Gaara said that because I knew he would seriously kill Kankuro and even though I never treated him differently, he still managed to scare me because of how he could threaten you while keeping calm.

I also didn't want to piss off Gaara. He only threatened me once and I've witnessed him lose his cool. Let's just say, a rogue ninja tried to keep me hostage and provoked Gaara. You can probably guess how that ended.

Sasuke and Gaara both jumped down from a tree and Gaara turned to face us.

"I'm sorry for the bother he's been," Gaara apologized and turned around to leave with Temari and Kankuro.

"Hey you," Sasuke called out.

Temari turned around blushed. "Who, me?"

"No," Sasuke said. "You with the gourd on your back."

Gaara turned to look at him, still holding that stoic look on his face.

"Gaara of the Sand," He answered apathetically. "I'm interested in you as well."

After looking at Sasuke, he glanced at me probably wondering what I was doing here.

"Why are you even here?" I asked Kankuro.

"Geez," Temari snorted. "Are you living under a rock or something? We're here for the Chunin Exams."

I smirk at Temari. "Sarcastic as ever,"

She just smirked back at me.

I always had a good bond with Temari. She usually put Kankuro in his place if he was being stupid around me.

"Mika, you know them?" Naruto asked.

"Yeah, I went on a few missions with them and Temari was one of my friends," I answered.

They left and Dad came back with some papers to register us for the Chunin Exams. Sakura was about to back out of it, but I stopped her.

"Hey, I may have just met you, but you shouldn't do this. You can't just back out of this without trying and if you don't pass, then just train harder and pass the second time," I encouraged her.

She smiled. "Thank you, I needed that."

After he handed the passes to us, we parted ways and Sasuke caught up to me.

"Mika," He said.

My face started to flush.

"Y-Yes?"

"What do you know about that Gaara kid?" He asks, ignoring my blushing face.

I knew I wasn't supposed to discuss Gaara being a jinchuriki, so I pretended I didn't know much about him.

"Oh, I just know that he's really strong and doesn't hesitate to kill someone if they provoke him. You should be careful with him," I answered.

"Okay. That's all I needed to know."

Sasuke left and I ended up bumping into someone.

"Watch it!" The person snapped.

"Why don't you? Idiot," I retort, instantly knowing who it was.

"You're the one who bumped into me first," Kankuro retorts.

"Yeah? Well...at least...at least I'm not the idiot!" After I said that, even I knew my response was stupid.

Kankuro smirked. "That's all you have? I gotta say, I'm kind of surprised since you're so quick to insult me."

I started to blush in embarrassment. "Shut up! I just got distracted!"

He gave me that stupid arrogant smirk of his. I swear I'm going to knock that smirk off his face one day.

Before I could say more, Dad was walking in my direction.
