10: You understand me
Kin's POV
"Let's take a break," Father said, sensing my exhausted form, even though I wasn't the one running for two hours straight. Naruto whined, but after noticing my discomfort, he quickly shut up.
"One of Orochimaru's hideouts are here," Tenzo remarked, pointing to the map. "We're going to go in, break few walls, and find either a laboratory or Sasuke."
"Who's Sasuke?" I asked.
"Sasuke was Naruto's best friend," my father said softly. "They were teammates before Sai or Captain Yamato joined the team."
"What happened to him?"
"To avenge his dead clan killed by his older brother, Sasuke joined Orochimaru to gain power and strength. Naruto wants to bring him back home," Sakura said.
"I see."
After awhile, my father spoke up. "Let's go then."
Naruto cheered and hopped to his feet excitedly. Sakura, Sai, and Tenzo followed, while my father helping me to my feet.
"Hey Naruto, since you're so eager to find Sasuke, why don't you carry Kin?" My father called out. Naruto obeyed, coming over to me. I got on his back, and we continued running through the thicket.
As we approached the hideout, I noticed it was well hidden. Naruto got impatient and took me right inside, which wasn't the best idea.
Because right after we were inside, the rest of the team left behind, Naruto tripped and dropped me in the darkness.
And I went tumbling.
Then I fell.
"OWW!" I hissed, feeling myself land on something hard, presumably the floor.
Then I went tumbling again! Yay.
"Ouch!"
"Ow."
"Ow."
"AHHH-ow ow ow," I groaned, feeling the last drop hit my head.
And let me tell you, hitting the back of your head when you fall isn't funny. I swear, my head bounced on the ground.
Stop laughing. I see that smile.
Anyways, as soon as I stopped falling, landing, and yelling in the darkness, I felt pain aching all over.
"Hello, stranger," someone said hospitably. "Who might you be?"
"Hello," I groaned in agony. "My name is Kin. How about you?"
"You seem to have fallen rather roughly," the voice continued, ignoring my question. "Don't worry, I'm a doctor. I know exactly what I am doing."
"You should be," I muttered, feeling the guy pick me up. "No one should claim to be a doctor if they don't." I felt myself being carried who knows where, since it was exceedingly dark. I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face.
The guy set me on a something hard, probably a desk or table. I heard him move away for a moment then came back.
"This is going to feel cold," the stranger said, pressing a cold ice pack on the back of my head.
"That's too cold," I hissed.
"Heh, sorry."
"No you're not. I hear that smile," I said back. The man chuckled before applying slight pressure to my head.
"So, what are you doing here?" He asked.
"Uh, I'm looking for someone named Orochimaru," I said politely. "Could that be you?"
"Maybe, maybe not," the man said in a friendly way. "Depends one what you want with him."
"I'm looking for a way to cure a bunch of kids who have multiple sicknesses," I answered. "I heard Orochimaru might have something. Now are you Orochimaru, Mister Mystery guy?" I asked, lifting my hand outward to poke at something. My fingers hit fabric, and I knew I was poking the guy who was still holding the ice pack to my head.
"An interesting quest you have," the man said, a smile still in his voice. "Sorry to disappoint, but I am not Orochimaru. Actually, I am his assistant, Kabuto. Nice to meet you, Kin."
"Hi Kabuto," I answered politely. "Could you take me to Orochimaru?"
"Sure thing, but I need to warn you about something."
"Yeah?"
"We don't do things for free, you know," Kabuto said, helping me off the raised platform I couldn't figure out from before. "And our price or payment for doing things like giving non-fatal cures can involve the client's death."
"Why am I not surprised? But never mind, what do you want in return?" I asked. Kabuto led me towards somewhere else, probably through a door because I heard something open in front of us then shut behind us.
"Well, I couldn't help but notice the numerous amount of diseases inside your body," Kabuto answered smoothly. I could almost sense a snake crawling around my neck. "I can tell nearly every single one of those diseases are foreign to us."
"So you want me to be your human lab pet?" I asked. Kabuto chuckled.
"Yes."
"Okay. But you have to swear to me that you'll most definitely give me the cure for those kids," I said firmly.
"That's simple. Here, come this way," he said, stepping over something. "Watch--" I promptly tripped over whatever he had failed to warn me. ".....out" I groaned loudly and glared towards his voice.
"Thanks a lot, pal."
"Sorry about that. Come on," he said, helping me up. He led me somewhere in the darkness of the hideout.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll be able to see pretty soon. Anyways, where was I? Oh that's right. You wanted a cure the children of a certain disease, right?" Kabuto asked.
"Yes. I've got one right here--"
"No need," he said, cutting me off. "You just need to know this." He opened another door, revealing a dimly lit library.
"Woah," I said blankly, staring in amazement at the library. Kabuto let go of his hold on me and walked to a shelf.
"Over here." I trudged over to his side and looked at the book he was holding.
"And this is?"
"An easy way to cure every single disease in the world."
"Nooooo waaaaaayyyyyy," I said, throughly shocked.
"Yeeeeesssss waaaaaayyyy," Kabuto mimicked me.
