Saguru really didn't know what to do, he was at a complete loss. He'd been worried about Kaito, he was still worried about Kaito. Saguru's friend had formed a half-bond with some unknown alpha that the magician continuously refused to name. The fact that Kaito refused to let anyone meet said alpha was alarming, especially since Kaito had been disappearing more, sometimes even coming back with injuries.

When the rights for omegas in Japan had changed, he'd been in London. By the time he'd heard about it, it'd been too late to head back to Japan. All international travel to and from Japan had been halted, preventing the inevitable escape attempts that had come with the news. So he'd been stuck in London for months, unable to help his friendly rival.

He'd never been interested in the omega, at least mate-wise. Thankfully nothing had changed between them when he'd realized that Kaito was an omega, and himself an alpha. A silent, but mutual agreement had formed, they weren't interested in one another. When the travel ban had been lifted, he'd rushed back to Edoka with the intent of offering a protective half-bond to his friend until Kaito found someone to love.

It had been too late. Kaito had greeted him, all happy and snarky like his usual self. At first Saguru had been relieved, until he noticed the scarring. The magician's mating gland was covered in scars, from what was most likely a very brutal bonding. There was no need for such large scarring, unless it had been forced. A simple bite was all that was needed, not a throat tearing like what Kaito had most likely gone through.

Kaito continued to smile, it was in his nature to do so. The magician wasn't one to worry his friends if nothing could be helped. He looked genuinely happy. Saguru would have believed that to be the case, if Kaito stopped being elusive whenever he got questioned about his mate. The vague answers were worrying, if everything was fine, Kaito wouldn't need to hide who his mate was.

Saguru had learned that prying too hard would lead to Kaito avoiding him, so he reluctantly laid off a bit when it came to that. The more Kaito was around himself or Aoko, the less time he'd have around the mystery alpha. Saguru had decided to bide his time, quietly searching for clues whenever he could. The magician didn't make it easy though, Kaito was good at disappearing.

The day where Kaito had shown up with a full bond, well, Saguru had felt sick. How had that alpha managed to trick Kaito into completing it? Was it Stockholm Syndrome? Kaito was a very affectionate person, maybe the alpha had fed into Kaito's love of affection. Kaito's new scent made him feel ill, an everlasting reminder that he'd failed his friend. He now hated coffee.

"Saguru!"

Said blond turned, spotting Kaito running up to him with a grin "Kaito" Saguru greeted with surprise. He hadn't expected to come across Kaito during his walk through the park. Hey eyed Kaito like he always did after Kaito had formed a half-bond. The magician didn't look hurt, but there was a bit of a bandage near Kaito's left wrist. Another injury that he'd get no real explanation for.

Kaito grinned, tugging his scarf down a bit so that it wasn't covering half of his face. It was late autumn, the weather was colder than it usually was this time of year "I won some tickets to Tropical Land, I've got one for you, I already gave Aoko hers" Shinichi didn't want to go, which was understandable "The three of us can go make a day out of it"

Saguru raised a brow "Why not invite your partner too, I'll pay for his ticket if you don't have another spare" He accepted the ticket, carefully pocketing it.

The magician wilted a bit "He really really doesn't like Tropical Land" And he couldn't even bring himself to complain about the refusal. Shinichi had very good reasons for hating the place.

"Oh?" That was more info than normal. Saguru lightly bumped shoulders with Kaito, refreshing their pack scent a bit "Well then Aoko and I shall make the day great for you" He wasn't fond of Kaito's new mocha scent, but pack was pack. Saguru blinked, gold narrowing as he moved more into Kaito's personal space than what was socially acceptable.

"Oi!" Kaito scowled, hopping a few steps away "Rude" He huffed, crossing his arms.

Saguru felt like he was going to throw up. Kaito's scent hadn't just been Mocha, it had also been laced with a milky pup scent "Kaito..." Saguru covered his mouth, as if doing so would hold back the nausea.

The magician perked up, visibly concerned at how Saguru had lost a few shades of colour "What's wrong?" He shuffled closer.

Closing his eyes, Saguru swallowed back the nausea before reopening them "You smell like you're with pup" He answered softly.

Kaito froze, indigos widening "Really?" Nobody else had commented anything, but Saguru's nose was also the best. It was too good, scent evidence was only valid if more than 5 people could attest to its existence. It had allowed Saguru to figure out that he was Kid, but had also left him unable to use it as evidence.

"Yes..." Saguru replied sadly.

Indigos gleamed, a wide smile blooming on Kaito's flushed face "That's great!" He paused "Oh no, now I'll be stuck with the less fun rides"

Saguru whirled on Kaito, grabbing his friend's shoulders, forcing them to see eye-to-eye "It's not great, you're still keeping your alpha a secret!"

Shocked, Kaito was silent for a few moments. Oh... Oh! He'd forgotten that Saguru was worried for him. Oh great, now he feels bad "Saguru" He kept his tone soft "Do you want to meet my partner?" It was only natural that Saguru would feel unease with all the facts that he'd been given so far.

The blond's jaw slowly dropped "Are you being serious?"

Kaito nodded, looking very apologetic "I couldn't say anything before, and then I forgot to change that" He felt bad for worrying his friend "I'll explain everything and you'll understand why I couldn't tell you sooner"

Me: So Saguru's fears were very valid. Kaito hiding his mate for so long in a universe like this? That would obvious give off very bad vibes to those who cared about him.

Mocha = Kaito chocolate and Shinichi coffee

I've had this chapter idea in my mind from the start, I had to put it in >~<

Comment? ^-^

•3• My favourite waffles are Eggo, I only buy them when they're the same price as the generic ones~

They just have this eggy taste? IdK, it just tastes so good >~<

And the chocolate eggo cereal is shockingly good, I thought it'd just be relying on its brand like the nasty timbits or Hershey kisses cereal.

They actually did good when making the chocolate eggo cereal... Haven't tried the other kind because I don't care for maple syrup
