||Chapter 9 : Anonymous Helpers||

Next Morning

Naira's POV

It was a usual day, a usual morning....

I wish I could say that because its a really gross and unusual morning for me. Imagine...you're sleeping soundly and peacefully in your bed and suddenly you feel the urge to throw up. You have to push away the soft, comfortable, feather like blanket, get down your dreamy, heavenly bed and rush towards the bathroom to throw all the contents out, feeling disgusting and horrible as ever! You call that usual morning?

I couldn't bear with this thing for a couple of days and he expects me to follow this same routine for nine freaking months. Does he consider it such an easy task to carry a baby? Why can't men become pregnant? That's the question I've been asking myself since yesterday.

Gosh....I can't imagine him with a baby bump.

It would look like Superman ate all his neighbours' pizzas and Big Mac and is now pregnant with a food baby!

Trust me, I wasn't attached to this baby at all.

Call me inhuman, I'll forgive you!

I mean yeah....there were moments when I thought about it, like thought about its future you know, how its gonna look like? how is it gonna turn out? And then the next second, I start blaming it for ruining my life....not completely but yeah a part of it.

But....(sighs) it's not the baby's fault, its biology.

Wish I had paid more attention is biology's reproduction classes.....

Maybe then I knew how much important it is for your "partner" to use protection while making out!

Imma knucklehead..

Wait....I guess even he skipped that chapter in options🤷

Its really difficult to attend university and tolerate never ending lectures when you're so moody and sick.....and want pickles after every ten minutes.

And not forgetting the fact that I'm being watched every second by his men. There are Mafia gangs around me, planning to kill me at sight. I suddenly become so precious like a diamond....huff....never expected my boring, monotonous, simple life to become so exciting and full of action all of a sudden.

I was working on my phone, you can say searching him on social media - but he wasn't there on any of the platforms.

So underground....

I sighed in disbelief and Sasha entered with my breakfast, serving it in front of me. I looked at it disgustedly.

"Scrambled eggs", I made a nauseous face.

"Yep. Scrambled eggs are good for your eggs in there", Sasha said pointing at my still flat belly and I rolled my eyes.

I dunno why but I hated the word "eggs".

I found it yuck.

I looked at the scrambled egg, served and decorated so beautifully - surrounded by strawberries.

But I could still see that hideous, evil face that was under the disguise of a good, appearing to be tasty face....

I made a disgusting face and started eating it unwillingly, starting with the strawberries first.

I'm not an egg lover.

"Eat it...otherwise Johnny Bravo can break in through that library wall. Who knows he made a secret base behind those walls to keep an eye on you?", Sasha said referring to KG.

Might be.....who knows?

I shrugged my shoulders and continued eating my meal.....if you can call it a meal!

It was 9 am in the morning. I was on my way to the university. Sasha had gone before only because she said she had some work to do for the college fest.

I was walking on the side walk as the cold, dry, dreary Manhattan wind blew past me. It was spring time, but its New York - you can never expect it to be hot or something. Addition to it, when it rains here, it becomes chillingly cold.

Getting drenched that day, had its own affects. Cold catches me quickly. But it wasn't severe cold - it was just sometimes sneezing, sniffling noses and most of the times coughing. And I coughed badly. I used to become breathless while coughing, it wouldn't stop. My throat used to feel worse and eyes got watery.

I started coughing and continued coughing. I hated it. I searched for my bottle but couldn't find it. I must've left it at the apartment.

What am I supposed to do now?

It really feels awkward to cough continuously among so many strange, unfriendly people. It feels so worse to make a sick sound among these silent and mute people.

I stood near a bench and waited for myself to become normal. I continued coughing the whole time - between five - five seconds intervals where I tried to compose myself but again ended up coughing.

I needed water....warm.

Just then, a gentleman in a suit and black goggles entered from nowhere and stood in front of the bouquet stall, beside me. He had a bottle of water that he kept on the bench.

"I need the red tulips, please", he told the vendor.

The vendor gave him the red tulip bouquet, smiling brightly at him and the man paid her. He started to walk away without his bottle of water.

"Hey....excuse me! You tux man....u left your bottle here", I called him but he was too far gone.

I sighed and looked at the bottle. I was coughing uncontrollably, it wouldn't stop. My coughs are bad since childhood. I wasn't able to bear it further, so I looked here and there to see if people were watching me and quickly picked up the bottle, twisted its cap and starting drinking the water.

It was warm....

Max's POV

"Hey pal....give this bouquet to your wife. I spent twenty dollars on this bouquet just to give that girl a bottle of warm water", I said, throwing the bouquet of red tulips on Mason's face and picking up my binoculars.

"She's very dear to Boss...that's why he has appointed us to keep an eye on her. He treats her like a treasure", Mason replied keeping an eye on the whereabouts of the girl through his binoculars.

I sighed.

"I know. Never has he treated anybody so preciously and importantly", I said and Mason nodded.

"We better be attentive...if anything happens to her, KG will make sure to throw us off the cliff without thinking twice", Mason said and I scoffed.

"He never thinks twice", I said and concentrated on the girl.

Naira's POV

I had to cross the lane now but the signal wasn't turning red. Vehicles were running on the road with full speed and rush as it was office hour. I was getting late for the university.

Today, some people were visiting our university for hiring some interns. I didn't wanna lose such an opportunity. It would be beneficial financially for me and the baby. I didn't wanna be dependent on "someone" financially or in any other way.

I stood there, tapping my feet and glancing at my wrist watch for the signal to turn red. I had stood there for five minutes and my panic level was rising.

Max's POV

"Sweat on the forehead...stress factor", I spoke as I spied closely on the girl.

"Stress is harmful for the heir", Mason spoke and I agreed with him.

"Call the operator", I instructed Mason and he did so.

Mason dialled the operator of the signal and he picked up in two-three rings.

We have connections and ways of doing things....

"Turn it red", I instructed him grabbing the phone from Mason.

"Okay", the operator replied.

Naira's POV

I stood there waiting for a couple of minutes more. Just then, the signal turned red and the vehicles stopped.

I sighed in relief and started crossing the lane. I crossed the lane and the signal turned green. As soon as I reached the other side of the lane, I realised something.

I forgot my assignment at home!

Max's POV

The girl reached the other side of the lane.

"Should I turn it green now?", the operator asked over the phone.

"Yes, you can", I replied and he turned the signal green. The vehicles started moving.

But just then, the girl stopped in her tracks and turned back. She started walking back to the other side of the lane.

"No no no...turn it red...turn it red now!", I ordered the operator in a hurry.

"Okay", the operator said and turned the signal red. The vehicles stopped and the girl stood there surprised.

I and Mason sighed in relief.

Naira's POV

I hadn't come so far so I decided to return home to get my assignment. After all it was very important and I had been making excuses since almost a month.

I turned back and started to walk to the other side of the lane that the signal turned red again.

I stood there surprised.

The Almighty really has his full attention on me today....

I'm his favourite child.

I grinned like a fool and crossed the lane overwhelmed, squealing like a little kid.

Today's a good day....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I grabbed my assignment, locked the door and started descending the steep staircase. The stairs were built at very small distance and almost vertical to each other, increasing the steepness. I always wondered, how am I going to descend these stairs when I'm heavily pregnant with a round baby bump?!
I sighed in disbelief and continued descending the stairs cautiously and attentively. I guess I had focused too much, I started to feel dizzy. I held my head as it began spinning. I closed my eyes as there was a sharp pain in my head. Unconsciously, I moved my leg in air and tripped. I was about to fall down, that a pair of strong arms prevented me from falling down.
I was startled. Everything happened so suddenly. I was about to fall on my stomach. I slowly opened my eyes to look at my saviour. That's when my eyes met his chocolate brown eyes....
"KG", I murmured, trying to regain my senses. He looked disappointed and panicked AF. But still there was a sense of relief in his eyes.
I continued staring blankly into his eyes as I always do.
"You're coming with me", he spoke and dragged me towards his car, pushing me inside and slamming the door.
Wait....what?!
What the hell just happened!
