How could you be so reckless with my heart?

Her eyes stopped on him again. He was standing in hallway, laughing with his friends. She could forever stare at his smile. Seeing him smile brought a smile on her face as well but it soon went away when another girl came up and he kissed her standing in the hallway full of students, afterall they were the power couple of college, everyone adored them.

She tore her gaze away and standing moving towards her class.

She had always liked him. Last year, they used to be friends and she liked him since the very first day she saw him. He was too good with her in the start days, he often used to flirt with her, and made her feel special but after a few weeks, he started being distant and cold towards her. He stopped talking with her, sitting with her and seeing her. She liked him alot and it only brought her pain. The pain of being used by someone you like, the pain of being ghosted by someone you like.

Then she got to know, he was dating someone. Someone who was the most prettiest, smart and everything she never was.

It was obvious, why would he even look at her when he had the most beautiful girl by hiss side? Why would he want someone as dumb as her when he had the smartest girl by hie side?

It took her alot of time to get over him, but she still wasn't completely over him.

Sarah was pretty and smart, Naira had always liked her but seeing her with Kartik broke her heart everytime. Sarah was living her dream and she hated it. She hated her sometimes.

After a few days;

She was sitting in cafe going through her notes when her bestfriend Arya sat across her.

"Did you hear it?" Arya asked her.

"Hear what?"

"Kartik and Sarah broke up." She looked up on hearing that, not sure how she felt but for sure she felt a knot clenching in her stomach, they were together for a year.

"N-no, is it true?" She wanted it to be true for some reason.

"Yeah, whole college knows. Aren't you happy about it?" Arya asked her, she knew how much her friend liked him.

"I might like him, but I'm not happy about it at all. They were in love, Arya. It was so obvious." She stated and it was true, they both looked so in love.

"Whatever. We have a surway tonight at college. You coming?" Arya asked her.

"Yeah, I'll be there."

She rubbed her arms when the cold air touched her. Everyone was busy participating in surway, she wasn't interested in such activities, she wanted her name to be on attendance, the only reason she appeared here. She looked at Arya, she was busy interacting with people.

Naira was never a social person. She had only one friend. Her only issue was that she was too nice to everyone, she trusted everyone, and at the end she always got used by everyone, now she tries less to interact with anyone.

She stood in the corner looking at everyone, when her eyes landed on the figure sitting alone in the other corner on wall with a beer can in his hands.

He looked upset, she felt bad for him.

She started walking towards him. After almost a year she was going to talk with him. Her heart was beating so fast.

She sat with him. He looked at her.

"Oh, look who we have here. Been a long time, yeah?" He spoke up with energy. Her heart beat was still fast.

"Uh, yeah. Almost a year." She replied, he nodded.

"So, why suddenly you thought to talk with me?" He wiggled his brows.

"Well, you weren't gonna notice me so I had to make myself visible to you." He laughed.

This was him like the old times. He always made her comfortable to joke around him. She always fell for his charm, she was again falling for his charm.

"Oh, come on how can I not notice my girlfriend?" She took a deep breathe when he called her that. She won't fall for it again. But maybe he would be nice to her this time? A little hope maybe wont do any wrong.

"Well, where are your other girlfriends?" She asked. She didn't want to be blunt about his breakup so she joked around.

"You're here, right. Why do I need more?" He said with a grin, and he looked like a dream.

"Last time I remember, you had a girlfriend. Where is she now?" Finally she asked, she noticed the change in his expressions. She could see it bothered him. It mattered to him.

"Nah, she left." He said with a smile, but it was a sad one.

She sat silent.

"But I got you now, isnt it?" He wiggled his brow again, he was driving her crazy. Again.

"Why not." She laughed. But she wished if whatever he said was true, but it wasn't.

"Why are you out here?" He asked her.

"I could ask you the same."

"Fair enough." He laughed.

"So tell me why are you here?" She asked. He was always the outgoing one, almost everyone knew him. Sitting alone wasn't his thing.

"I'm just trying to ignore her. Dont want any interaction with her." Her, of course it had to be about her. "I mean its just a day after we broke up and shes acting alright as if nothing happened, like come on how could she be so okay?" He spoke up.

Her heart clenched, why she couldn't be her? why he always noticed everyone but not her?

"Uh, I'm sorry about whatever happened. You guys looked good together." He laughed when she said that.

"Nah, why I'm even telling you all this." And that hurt her, she just smiled at him feeling humiliated.

"So lets catch up over last year." He said and made himself comfortable on the wall and faced her.

"Well, alot of good things and alot of bad things happened." She said.

"Things like what?" She looked at him, he was looking at her like he wanted to know everything just like once he looked at her the same way, that still pained her.

"Um, alot of people came and alot left." She replied.

And you were one of them.

"Nah, you're so nice why would anyone leave you." She looked at him, he was already looking at her.

A voice screamed in her mind. Its a lie. But she wanted it to be true, she wanted it to be true so badly.

omg heyyyy, how are you all doing?

im so sorry I was gone for a long time, no justification haha. I will try my best to get back to my old stories but it will take time ofc as I was gone for a long time and had stopped writing so it will take time but till then I will continue on to this short story until im fully active haha.
