My Fault
“Hadd hoti hai!” Suhasini Ji started frowning, breaking the silence. “Doing THIS kind of thing just like that? I'm not saying I'm not sad, it's just that-”
“Aur nahi to kya, she ruined the engagement completely!” Rukhmini dadi butted in, earning annoyed eyerolls from everyone. “ab dekhiye, instead of celebrating we’re sitting in the hospital waiting for the doctor to come and tell us if she's okay or not.”
“aap ko itni hi takleef hai to aap chali jaye na.” Kirti said sweetly through her tears and rukhmini dadi went quiet.
“Will you all please stop it?” Naksh sighed. “Naira is in there and needs our full support. Besides…” His eyes trailed off to the corner of the hall, where Kartik sat in silence. “It hit Kartik pretty hard.”
He broke her. He did that to her. These were the thoughts going through his head and he continued staring at his feet, ignoring everyone's bickering. So many thoughts were going through his head, so many questions.
What he really wanted to do now? Kill himself as well. Just like Naira tried to do, so he could feel the pain he always thought she never felt. The pain he ignored and the pain he fed with all his comments and accusations.
All eyes now turned to Kartik, who continued to blankly stare at his feet, tears now dry.
… I don’t deserve her.
…...
What had she done. She shouldn’t have done that. She shouldn’t have been overwhelmed by these feelings, she shouldn’t have grabbed the knife from the kitchen and hid in mansi’s room, she shouldn’t have started to cut her wrist mercilessly all the while crying sad tears, she shouldn’t have fainted afterwards, she shouldn’t have wrote that letter to begin with!
Yet… she did.
And it was her fault. Her fault she was in this white room, her fault her wrist was wrapped up, her fault her family stood outside waiting for her, her fault that Kartik would now hate her even more. All her fault.
She looked around and jumped at an anonymous voice. “Ah! Ms. singhania, you’re awake!” The nurse smiled. “You’ve been asleep for quite a few hours.”
“R-really?” Her eyes landed on the door. “... c-can i meet my family?”
“Oh course! I’ll tell them you’re awake.” And the nurse walked out.
Soon afterwards her father and brother with Kirti burst in, immediately tackling her in a hug as soon as their eyes landed on her.
“Don’t EVER scare me like that princess!” Naitik scolded near tears. Naira smiled warmly. She wouldn’t. She hoped she wouldn’t.
They stayed for a few hours, the rest of the family coming in to greet her as well. All except Kartik. Her eyes searched for him, yet she was scared to face him as well.
Night soon came and all were forced to leave, but they promised to come back tomorrow, naitik giving her a peck on the forehead before leaving.
As soon as they left, Naira sat up, hands flying to the bandaged wrist as she tried to tears it off, in the process scratching her arm and cutting off the bandages, reopening the cuts that started to leak blood again.
“Naira!” Someone immediately ran through the door and dashed towards her, holding her down so she wouldn’t hurt herself anymore.
“NO! MUJHE YEH BANDAGES NAHI CHAHIYE! I WANT TO JUST DIE!” She screamed against that person’s hold. She trashed around, at some point grabbing a tray nearby and smashing it at that someone’s head.
Her blurry vision caught site of doctors and nurses rushing in the room, to her sides and holding her down. She blacked out as soon as a nurse pulled out a syringe and put it in her arm. She really hated syringes.
…..
His hands went to his head, where it was bleeding. Good.je deserved it. From her especially. He wasn't listening to what the doctor was saying, but what he could make out was...
‘seems like the horror of what she had done has done some damage in her brain, so she really wants to kill herself.’
He didn’t say anything, hazy and red eyes staring at his sherni.
Flashback…
“NairaAAAA!” He immediately kneeled down near her, tears running down his face as he took her in his shaky arms. The rest of his family rushed up to see what was going on, but he ignored them.
“Naira! WAKE UP! I'M SORRY, I DIDN'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN, PLEASE!” His heart was broken. He knew. “NAIRAAA!”
Flashback end…
His fault.
Her fault.
.....
... And Kartik blames himself for what happened and he's pretty heartbroken and sad. And with Naira? Well, my guess was that if she DID ever attempt suicide and survive, she'd be scared for quite some time before actually healing. Another crappy chapter, please forgive me if it's horrible and short. next time it'll be the longest i have ever done! And i'll upload it today! ... Hopefully.
Next chapter will probably come out later, since I'm having a big move and can't update often.
Thank you all for your support! Hopw you like it and let me know!
