Next Day , Afternoon

Naira and her parents were back after touring the city , they were all exhausted.

Naira was sitting by herself on the bed resting her tired legs then suddenly Gayu barged in.

" So how was college??" Naira asked at once

" It was good , and I have some good news" Gayu said with excitement

" Go ahead , I'm listening" Naira said looking in her phone

" Remember that Kartik guy we met yesterday , he has invited me to his party tonight and he has also asked me to bring you" Gayu finally said.

Naira head shot up at once , she didn't think of him much after he left because she thought that it was just for sometime but now the story going on a different path.

" Ok...have u ever been to his party??" Naira asked suspiciously

" Not his , because none of my friends were there" Gayu said folding her arms against her chest

" Then why to go in this one , leave it , moreover , I don't know anyone" Naira shrugged her shoulders

" You gotta be kidding me , it's Kartik Goenka's party and my friends will there too so you miss are gonna come with me , I already asked aunty and she was ok with it" Gayu spoke furiously and went out of the room.

Evening

Naira wore a simple short dress and some heels and went downstairs finding her cousin waiting for her. She said goodbye to her parents and went in the car with Gayu.

" So how it is gonna be like??" Naira asked still having no idea

" Just dance , food , drink and fun . But yeah you will not drink as you are not used to and don't eat or drink anything except what I give you , got it??" Gayu said warningly

" Nobody's gonna kill me" Naira said with a duh sound

They reached infront of a big mansion , Gayu parked her car and then they went inside. There were people everywhere dancing , chit-chatting and doing not what.

Naira's nervousness peaked up , she doesn't like new places and strangers and this was the combination of both.
Suddenly she saw Gayu saying hi to someone .

" You guys came , I was not expecting it" Kartik said surprised

" Yup , do the unexpected and then regret it" Naira said plainly.

Gayu then made Naira meet her some of her friends , but for a minute Naira zoned out thinking of something and then she saw that Gayu wasn't there.

" Hey , why are you standing all by yourself?" Kartik asked concerned

" I'm nervous , very nervous , where is Gayu??" Naira just spoke her heart out , because he might be the second person in the whole party after Gayu on which she can trust.

Kartik held Naira's hand , they both felt current passing through their body , then Kartik led her from the crowd and brought her to an area where there was food and drinks kept.

" I'm so sorry , it's your party and I'm disturbing u" Naira said

" It's totally fine , you're my very special guest , so I gotta take care of u" Kartik said squeezing her palm.

" Here take this" he gave Naira a coke can

" I can still smell alcohol" Naira said giggling

" Well I can't do anything about it" he said giving a smile

Some friend of Kartik called him so he went there

" Just a minute, I'll be back" Kartik said

Naira went and stood against a wall drinking the coke , then suddenly some drunk person came near her

" You do not belong here , who are you??" That person said

" That's none of your business , now scoot" Naira said with a warning

That person suddenly grabbed her waist , Naira was caught off guards. She then hit him there with her knee and the person fell back with painful groans and then Naira spilled all the coke on him and went out furiously.

No sooner did Naira went in the silent garden , she felt guilty , she thought of Kartik , she thought that she might have ruined his party . She went and sat in the corner of the porch and tears started to make it's way out.

" Hey hey , are u fine??" Gayu came and asked her

" I don't know , I ruined his party" Naira said

" Are you mad or what or are u drunk?? " Kartik came there and said

" See Kartik , I'm sorry , I should....."

Naira was cut off when she was hugged by Kartik. Gayu took the chance and went inside leaving them alone.

" What you did was totally right , it's good to know you can stand for yourself and fight for yourself , you're a tigress" Kartik said while hugging her

Naira came out of the hug and Kartik wiped her tears.

" I didn't knew , you had brains " Naira said trying to lighten the mood

" Well looks like someone studying me " Kartik said with a wink

Naira blushed.

They both went inside and some  music started and everyone hooted and started dancing.

Kartik and Naira danced close to each other , there faces were so close to each other that it was becoming difficult for them to maintain that distance. Kartik then held her waist and Naira put her hands around his neck.

" So you're not so good girl type" Kartik said

" Nah...it depends with whom you are" Naira said with a wink

They danced for sometime then sat on the sofa to relax for sometime. Kartik then felt something on his shoulder and saw Naira sleeping even in such a loud environment.

He didn't knew what to do so he called Gayu

" What , she's asleep" Gayu said standing in front of Naira

" What do we do now" Kartik said

" She's in deep sleep even in this loud music , this might be her jet lag and tiredness" Gayu said making a point

" Go take her to a room and let her sleep there " Gayu said

" What!!" Kartik's eyes widened

" What , what?? Let her sleep , I'll make up something to my parents , now go!" Gayu said and then left

Kartik picked her up in a bridal style and went in his room and tucked her in.

" You're so cute , maybe you're only here for some days but I still wanna fall in love with you" Kartik said and left

Next Morning

Naira woke up and noticed that the surrounding were not familiar , then she saw Kartik sleeping on the couch. She then remembered what happened.

" You're awake...aahhh" Kartik said smiling towards her but forgot that he is on a couch and leaned more and fell on the ground

Naira started laughing

" Stop laughing, it's not funny" Kartik said

" Hahaha..." Naira can't control her laughter

" So you can't control your laughter , now see what I do" Kartik said

He came out from the blanket , he was wearing last night's jeans but was not wearing his t-shirt , so his well built body was on full display.

He climbed the bed and starts tickling Naira , they were rounding on the bed and suddenly a 'thud'.

Kartik was lying on the ground , Naira was on top of him. Naira looked towards him , her hair strands were falling here and there. Kartik gently tucked her hair behind

" Fell thrice in a day" Kartik said

" How thrice?" Naira asked

" Well first was from the couch then bed and then I fell for a girl , who is looking at me right now" Kartik said

Naira blushed and then stood up.

" Come downstairs , I'll make you some breakfast" Kartik said

They both were sitting on the table having some breakfast that's when Gayu came from the front door

" Hello , morning" Gayu said

" Where were you , and why didn't you wake me up , what am I gonna tell my parents" naira spoke

" Calm down , I told them that the party is going to be a little late , and I'm not comfortable in driving late night , so we're crashing in one of my friend's house" Gayu said

" And they believed??" Naira said

" Yess" Gayu said while picking an apple from the basket

" I still can't believe they're my parents" Naira said raising her eyebrows

Kartik chuckled at that.

Afternoon

" Did you tell him that you're going back tomorrow" Gayu said

" Nope , he's so caring and I like him and I think he likes me , but ...." Naira lost words to describe what she's feeling.

They were right now in the park riding their bicycles and enjoying a breezy summer afternoon.

" I'm gonna call him" Gayu said taking out her phone

" Wait , no!" Naira said

But Gayu has already called him. After sometime Kartik was there with bunch of his friends on the bicycle.

" You know , I having a crush on one of Kartik's friend , so I'm going bye!!" Gayu left to ride with everyone.

Naira was slowly following everyone when Kartik also slowed and started riding beside her

" What happened , are u ok??" Kartik asked

" I'm fine" naira said

" You wanna go on a longer trail , it has more beautiful view than that , just the two of us" Kartik asked

" Sure" Naira said at once

They both diverted from the group without anyone noticing and cycled down the path , it has many beautiful flowers and a stream

" It's beautiful indeed" Naira said

" Not more than you " Kartik said

Naira stopped her cycle and parked it near a bench and then sat on the bench with Kartik sitting beside her.

They both were silent.

Naira turned towards Kartik and said

" What are we Kartik??" Naira asked

" I don't know Naira , it's difficult to say" Kartik said

" I'm going tomorrow" Naira said with sorrow in her voice

" Hmm...." Kartik was silent , he knew this was going to happen.

" I just want to say thank you for everything , you really made my trip wonderful , and I love you , maybe we've only spent less time together but it was better than ....." Naira again lost words

" I love you too Naira , but it will not work" Kartik said with disappointment

" I know , maybe we can just talk on messenger , if you want , we will be just friends??" Naira said with tears in her eyes

" We can do that if you want to , but it's gonna be difficult" Kartik said

" Ya , I know" Naira said looking down at her lap

She then looked upwards and saw Kartik's face so close they both leaned for a kiss , it was a short kiss because they knew the longer it would the more painful it will be in future to forget about each other.

"Are we for forever?" Kartik asked

" I don't know" Naira said.

After one year

Naira's POV

I'm so happy today , I'm going to the same place where I left my life , my love. We didn't talked much on the phone but we still loved each other.

I've got a job in Sacramento , and I was so damn happy about it. I called my cousin Gayu , she was also happy to have me there , I asked her about Kartik , but she always said that they're no more talking.

I reached the house and was met by my relatives and an excited Gayu , we both hugged each other and then went upstairs to arrange my things.

" I didn't told Kartik , I'm gonna surprise him" I said excitedly

"Hmm" Gayu was silent

What was wrong with her. I grabbed her by shoulder and made her sit on the bed and asked her what was wrong.

She suddenly started crying .

" What happened gayu , tell me please?" I asked with concern.

" I'm so sorry Naira" Gayu said while crying

" Why , what happened?" I asked her but my heart was beating very fast.

" Kartik is dead" Gayu finally spoke

"You're joking right?" I asked her with my hands trembling and my knees going weak.

" No , I'm serious , he's dead , he was driving back from somewhere and suddenly some truck driven by a drunk driver hit his car and he was dead at the spot" Gayu said while sobbing

" When it happened?" I asked , I was numb very numb .

" Few months ago" Gayu said

I didn't know what to say , I was feeling dizzy , so I went in my room silently , everything's snatched from me , my only love.
