"Lucy calm down, I spoke to him yesterday and-

"no Naira,the report coverage is today Ian said there was a late night shooting in New Orleans and Kartik is going to cover it, it's very dangerous situation down there tell Kartik to refuse it"  she said now Naira felt worried.

"Wait, aren't the boys together?" Naira asked..

"not this time, usually they are but some have gone there and others have gone to cover another report, I thought I should tell you" said Lucy

"Shall I call Stevenson I have his number Kartik gave me a bunch of phone numbers in case of emergency" said Naira

"Stevenson is busy I called like 10 times,oh Aria is crying I got to go.. if I hear anything I will call you" she said to Naira

"ok Lucy and thank you" said Naira, Lucy told her anytime she can call her.  Naira's mind started to worry

'New Orleans, Louisiana Kartik has gone or has he not left..

"Call karti hu" Naira heard the dial tone continuously.. she cut the call.

"ok this isn't the 1st time Kartik has been busy, maybe Lucy misunderstood..right now I should  just wait..I'm sure he will call me." She smiled at her positive thinking. now what was I going to do before this..

"Oh yes check my dates" she got her phone calender up.

"I'm quite late but that isn't rare.. when did I start vomiting.. and I was last intimate with Kartik was before he left for his work assignment.. only a pregnancy test will give me an answer, I will go buy one before I collect Kittu" she said to herself

"Why am I feeling worried, God please protect my Kartik, I will try to call Stevenson"  Naira dialled his number.. but as Lucy had told her it kept coming on a busy tone.

"(Tut) where did the time go..I'm late for picking up Kittu!" Naira left swiftly, she hurried and reached Kittu's daycare.

"Sorry ,sorry" she said seeing Kittu standing with the teacher, she walked over and carried him up.

"Traffic was a nightmare" she said explaining

"It's ok your here now, bye Kittu see you tomorrow" said the teacher.

"Say bye and say thank you for looking after me" said Naira..to Kittu

"Thank you" said Kittu as he waved to his teacher. Naira seated him in his car seat and started to drive.

"Did you have fun baby?" She asked seeing his face in the mirror whilst driving..

" yeah mumma.. kittu started talking and then Naira realised something

'Damn It i needed to go to the chemist to get the test..ab kya karu..I'll just have to go tomorrow morning..

As soon as Naira came into the house Kartik started flashing on the screen

"Kartik is calling thank God, hello handsome?" She said

"How are you jaan"

"I just got Kittu from daycare and-

"Jaan I can't chat for long I'm flying to cover a story in New Orleans"

"I know a shooting right?

" huh?.. he said

"Kartik please don't go it's too dangerous " she said expressing her feelings after what Lucy told her she had to let him know how she was feeling.

" Naira don't worry jaan it's ok I.."

"I think I'm pregnant! So I need you here" she said trying to get him to understand.

" hello..Jaan?

" Kartik did you here me?"

" Naira..Nai- "

"Hello,hello Kartik the phone reception is bad, I'll call him back"

"Ahh!" She heard a scream. She knew that little scream, it was Kittu her mind went straight to his whereabouts.

" Kittu, bacha kya hua" she said carrying him up from the ground"

"I fell" he said rubbing his eye

"Did you climb on the table? how many times has mumma said to not climb on it!" She said raising her voice a little, which just made him cry more.

"ok, bas bas, beta oh  your knee is bleeding, chalp mumma will make it better" she couldn't see tears and her child in pain, thank god it was just a little cut she sat him on the breakfast bar, she grabbed the first aid kit and cleaned up the cut.

" batman plaster" she said in a cheery tone,after she applied it she finally got a smile from him, He hugged her chest, she kissed the top of his head.

"I love you my baby" she said as she hugged him

"Kissie" he said with a cute pout she smilee and kissed him then she carried him to the main room, she then placed him down and let him watch cartoons.. he was smiling and excited resting his head in her lap. She lovingly caressed his forehead.

'Why am I feeling restless..I'll call him again, but I will stay here and keep an eye on Kittu at the same time' she grabbed her phone and started to dial his number.

"The number you have dialled can't be connect please try later" Naira shook her head after hearing that. I will try again in a few minutes.. a few hours past and she got the same message again. She tried again before dinner, after dinner  and still no answer not even a sms from him.

"It's 11pm how am I going to sleep knowing he has gone to that dangerous place, damn it if he heard that I might be pregnant he wouldve definitely refusee to go..the phone reception had to screen up then only..kya karu.."

Worrying and thinking tired her brain out and she fell asleep.

" Kartik" she said turning to hold him close.. she felt the cold bed..

"Oh no..I need to know what is going on, yes Lucy she will know"  she got up and rang in and said she will work from home today.

'l will get ready and then drop Kittu off at daycare, I actually don't want to send him today but we decided he needs to keep a routine and also I do need to work from home, yes and who knows by that time shayad Kartik ka call ajaye'

"Yes that is what I will do" she got out of bed and got dressed, then got Kittu up and dropped him off at daycare and managed to get the pregnancy test kit too, if only she would get a chance to do it, finally she got to pee on that stick, she waited for the result.. waiting for it to give the result was like watching a boiling kettle so instead she went downstairs to kill some time.

'I'll just check the news..to put my mind at ease..fox news..

"The latest reports have just come in 4 news reporter covering the new Orleans shooting  have been announced as missing!"

Naira's eyes widened. "Kartik?..nai nai it can't be" she said shutting the TV because it just felt more worrying, just then an incoming call started flashing "Lucy?"

"Hi Lucy! yes I just saw the news who is it"

"Naira don't panic I know what your thinking..

"It's Kartik..this is happening again?"

"We don't know that" said Lucy

"We?" Asked Naira

"Ian is there too" she said

"I thought you said the boys weren't together in this assignment?" Naira asked

"I got some misinformation they are and Ian is safe but they were working on different locations, Ian was told to fly back home" she said

'Well lucky for you Lucy that your husband and your kids father is well, how selfish..stop it Naira she is trying to help you don't go making enemies'

"ok Naira?" Said Lucy, Naira just said "yes" she didn't even know what Lucy had said as her mind drifted in her own thoughts and opinions..

"Yeah I do you can just send me the address of where they were staying?" Asked Naira then she cut the call.

"Kartik I'm coming to bring you home" she said

'now I need to pack my overnight clothes, also I'll tell mumma to come here and look after Kittu or he can stay at hers,  I'll just tell her I'm going for a work purpose otherwise she will go all supermum on me and stop me from going'

"Hi I want a flight to New Orleans today, it's fine I don't mind the price I need one that is going out today!"

'Luckily i got one booked for the afternoon I rang mumma to pick up Kittu from daycare because i will be leaving before his daycare finishes, I really wanted to see him before I go but then if he doesn't settle then that will be hard to leave him crying.. I'll be back with Kartik in tow then we will both see him together,I'm grateful my work is so understanding I only told them the truth and they were supportive thank god'

She smiled with her positive thoughts, because if she thought otherwise she would be a crying mess! Whilst on the plane she thought about her Kartik and her Kittu..then she remembered something

'I took the test but then once I got Lucy's call I forgot to check the result!'

Naira finally reached 'New Orleans' and now she was feeling nervous, she waited for a taxi to take her to the hotel the crew were staying at, once she reached it there she it covered in red tape. She went closer to the building

"Ma'am please stay back this hotel isn't operating after a shooting took place not long ago" he said telling her to stay back.

"Excuse me my husband was staying here covering the-the new Orleans shooting from fox news" she said

"Oh..yes hold on a sec" she thought what a dangerous area she has just landed in

"Hello I'm Rick come with me ma'am" he said Naira went with the police officer

"What's your husband's name ma'am?"

"Kartik Go.." he started looking at his list..and shook his head..

"No he isn't among-

"Karvin G" she said with fear in her voice..

"Oh, yes Karvin is on the list and ..excuse me ma'am" he went off without giving any information further.

'Karvin is on the list means what..

"The officer came back and asked her something

"Are you next of kin to Karvin Goe?" She nodded

"Yes I am his wife" she said

"These are his belongings" he said handing her a transparent bag

"Belongings?" Questioned Naira making sure she heard right

"sorry for your loss ma'am" Naira's eye popped out in utter shock.

'Did he just say, for my loss?? no there is no way it's possible! But this is..it is Kartik's shirt and oh God his walle that he has with him everywhere.

she pulled it out and opened the pocket and saw their wedding photo inside and another  one with them and Kittu.

"no this isn't possible it can't be! I need to see him I don't believe this" she said

"Officer,I need to see him, my husband his-his body?" she said not understanding what she was saying this nightmare. is it even real, oh God it was the officer the nodded at her request.

"Jack this young lady is the wife of that reporter, she needs to go to the hospital" Naira was trying to keep a grip on her emotions she didn't want to believe what was the inevitable.

"Ma'am Jack will escort you to the hospital" said the officer. Naira went with him the drive was a bit far, finally they reached Bluecounty Hospital, she saw the huge building and now felt terrified to go in! She still has her bag with her, she didn't know what she was doing, fear crippled her mind with worry, is she real about to see something that she never wanted to.

"Where here, come" said the officer

"I um.. can I just wait here for a second?" she requested him.

"You can wait in the reception area ma'am, I can't let anyone wait inside the car" he said, she understood and got out of the car, she went with him and he enquired at reception, a woman nodded and asked her to come with her.
