"What?" He asked her confused at her reaction

"But my worry for your safety won't Kartik" she said, he stayed quiet

"I googled Karvin Goe, drug ring, wild fires,gun shootings?" She said walking to him.

"Naira meri baat suno" he tried to get a word in but he couldn't

"This is why you didn't want me to know what exactly your job involves!" She yelled

"Yes, because I know it will trouble you but jaan it pays really well" he said

"I don't care about the money Kartik i care about your life" she said

"I know it looks bad, but look at me I'm fine I have been all this time" he said

"no you've been lucky  but next time what if your not, have you ever thought about that?" She asked him. "Ian he works with you? is he also a news correspondent?" She asked

"He is our camera man behind the scenes crew mein" he said

"But you are in front where everyone know exactly what you look like" she said. "Your more at risk he is less but still i'm sure Lucy too feels scared"

"That's their issue I don't get involved" he said

"and yours isn't?" He asked her, because of her lawyer profession.

"That's not fair" she said walking off, annoyed with him also because she knows her job can be risky too, depending on what kind of cases she is fighting.

"Naira listen to me" he held her arm and turned her..

"If you love me and Kittu then you will refuse this assignment" she said to him.

"Don't emotional blackmail me" he said

"Call it what you like but I'd rather have you alive than dead, I can't go through that again I won't" she said then removed his hand.

"Daddy" said Kittu hugging his leg.

"Mera bacha" he said carrying him up in his arms, he hugged him tightly.

"Look at your son Kartik" she said "abhi kitna chota hai" she said they exchanged a cold look.

"Kittu chalo mumma ke paas" she took him from his arms,

"Dekho mumma ne kya banaya Kittu ka favourite pizza" Kartik heard her say as she walked with him to the kitchen, shortly she came back to the living room, Kartik was flicking random channels on the TV.

"Khana lag gaya" she said

"I'm not hungry" he replied

"Fine suit yourself" she said leaving him to it. Naira ate her dinner at the same time she made Kittu have his.

'I've finished my dinner, Kartik still hasn't come, he can be damn stubborn!'

She made Kittu wash his hands, he then went to the main room and ran to Kartik.

"Daddy" he said climbing on to his lap, Kartik held him on his lap holding his waist.

"Hello meri jaan" he said kissing his cheeks.

"I ate pizza" he said excitedly,

"Wow, was it nice" he asked? Kittu nodded

" yummy tha" he said with a giggle. Kartik rubbed his nose to his. 

" daddy give me" he said seeing the tv remote, "I want to watch cartoons"

"ok beta ek second" he said seating him on his lap properly, Kittu started watching Tom and Jerry, and he smiled

"Bad cat" he said pointing to the screen.

"Yes he is a bad cat kitna parishan karte hai little mouse ko" he said.

" haan daddy" Kartik just loved hearing him call him daddy, he still can't believe that he wasn't their from the very beginning, seeing him in the scan with Naira, him as a new born, the first time he crawled, took his first steps. . He watched Kittu enjoying his cartoons, he hugged his little back.

"Meow" said Kartik near Kittu's ear.

"Uh hehe"laughed Kittu, because it tickled his ear, then Kartik kissed his little cheek, Kittu gave him one in return, then gave him a cute smile.

'He is the copy of my Naira, his smile is just like my sherni's it's amazing how much he looks like her, I love her so much and our son why can't she understand about my job. Maybe it's me am I being unreasonable? I guess I shouldn't have questioned about her job so..

His thoughts got interrupted as she came in the room.

"Kittu chalo beta it's time for your bath," she then looked to Kartik "and your dinner is getting cold" she said. Kartik saw her,he could sense her mood..

"I'll help you with his bath" he said getting up and placed Kittu on the ground, trying to make an effort with her but only if she let him.

"thanks but It's ok I got this and you did it yesterday you relax.. and have your dinner otherwise it will be completely cold, chalo Kittu, she took his little hand in hers.

"I think it's best if I sleep on the sofa tonight" he said

'it's enough now stop this Naira, tell him no and ask him to help you with Kittu's bath time'

"ok if that's what you want, chalo beta" she said taking Kittu out of the room. Naira got busy with Kittu then came back to their room, she got into bed.

'Kartik why can't you understand my side, why do you have to be in a job that's so risky, I didn't know being on TV meant this kind of work, he doesn't want to understand me even. He know what's happened how hard it was to be without him..I should sleep tomorrow is a new day..but he's sleeping alone on that sofa mujhe bilkul ache nai lag raha hai.., is that what our relationship has come to sleeping in different rooms? Am I being unreasonable I didn't ask him once how his job is, maybe I was too quick to judge, but he has a son now atleast he should think of Kittu..he can find a better job, but then what if he resents me for it later on.

Kartik was lying down on the sofa, he kept tossing and turning..

'I'm sleeping here, without her and it sucks man, there is safety on every location hence I've been able to do it for the past years, but she doesn't want to know, I should've told her that from the beginning this is my fault, Ian did warn me..I can't sleep without her in my arms, the warmth of her body on mine hugging me..

he sat up and squeezed his temple, then tilted his head back on the headrest and closed his eyes, he felt his cheek being touched, he opened his eyes.

"Sorry" she said he nodded he held his hand out and made her sit on his lap,

"you couldn't sleep either?" He asked her. She clicked her tongue, she enterwined their fingers.

" I hate it when we fight mendak" she said leaning into his chest. He leaned his chin on her shoulder and closed his eyes

"I do too jaan" he said Naira was feeling bad that he hasn't eaten dinner.

"Why didn't you eat your dinner?" she asked turning to the side and faced him at an angle.

"I wasn't hungry" he replied just then his belly made noises

"Hmm but your stomach says otherwise" she commented.. she then turned slightly and placed her hand on his cheek.

"mujhe bilkul acha nai lagra ha hai ke tum bhukhe peht sogaye" she said with nearly tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry that I didn't listen and that I refused to let you help me with his bath time and that you were just trying.. he placed a finger to her lips.

"Shhh bas bas kitna bolte ho tum" he said teasingly which made her smile they both did. She got up from his lap and held his hands

"Chalo to the kitchen I'll make you something anything you want to eat" she said

"It's ok honestly I'm not that much hungry" he said.

"Ok then a hot chocolate drink?" She asked

"if it makes you feel better then ok I will have one" he said, she nodded and told him she will be right back. Kartik sighed happily

'I knew my sherni would be missing me we love each other alot' he smiled

"That was quick" he said seeing her bringing the hot drink on a tray, she placed the tray on the table, she smiled giving him the mug and took a seat next to him.

"Mmm that's good" he said after taking a sip

"It's made with love so.."

"have some" he put the mug to her mouth

"Maine brush kar liya" she said "tum peo" she made him drink it.

"Kittu sogaya?" He asked her and she nodded they had chit chat but not about what they argued on earlier.

"That was nice thank you jaan" he placed the mug back on the tray.

"Kartik" she held his hands.. "maybe I jumped to conclusions so tell me from the beginning about your job, I'm ready to listen" she said caressing his hands, he entertwined their fingers and kissed her temple.

"My work is like an escape it's the only thing that kept me going since I left my old life ..I found purpose again i changed my name to Karvin because I didn't want to be tracked down by my family as you know..but Naira..the risky situations you know were dangerous but like being able to survive them was like wow like I survived that! It feels like a rush like an-an

"Adrenaline rush, I know I feel like that after I win a case" she said

"Exactly jaan..but I know its risky and I, I won't go"

"The team keeps you save na I mean really safe?" She asked

" yeah always jaan they are with us, I rate there safety and protection and I also have this around my arm" he said referring to the rudraksh.

"Fine it's ok, I won't stop you from doing your job, it's become your passion and what kind of wife would I be if I stopped you doing something you love, sorry I over reacted" she said

"Now come upstairs  your not sleeping here" she got up and held his hand.

"First come here baby" he pulled her by the hand and she landed on his lap sideways, he held her waist with one hand, looking up at her.

"You have nothing to feel sorry for" he said cupping the side of her face.

"I should've told you from the beginning" he said

"Let's not start this again, I'm fine with it now" she said

"I love you mendak" she said

"love you more sherni" they kissed and got cosy on the sofa for a few minutes before heading back to their bed.

"That was really tasty aunty thank you" said Kartik after he finished his dessert, Kartik and Naira had dinner at her mumma's house before he leaves tomorrow.

"your welcome beta, I'm glad you both decided to come tonight" said Anjali holding a sleeping Kittu as they were in the living room on the sofas.

"Yes beta you both are always welcome" said Vidya

"thank you Vidya masi, mumma this has been really nice and this rasmalai was so tasty" said Naira, Kartik smiled at his wife sitting next to him, she's such a little kid at times. Naira talked for a bit with her mumma and masi,Kartik yawned, which didn't go unnoticed by her.

"Mumma it's getting late where going to leave now" she said

"Yes aunty we really enjoyed thank you for inviting us" he said, Anjali nodded they all got up, and said their byes

"Chalo beta" said Kartik taking Kittu from his nani,

"See you aunty" said Kartik

"See you beta, you take care I'm very proud that my damad works in TV you've done very well for yourself" said Anjali and Vidya agreed

"Thank you, look after my Naira and Kittu while I'm not here" he said, Naira was already missing him.

"Chale Kartik, Kittu is very sleepy, mumma masi I'll call tomorrow" she hugged them both and they left from there. They were driving..

"Your very quiet, it's not like you at all" he said

"2 weeks feels so long" she said, Kartik nodded,

"But you will be busy with your new case na?" He said

"Hmm" she responds in a bleak tone

they were home shortly.. they both put Kittu to sleep, he asked her if she is ok but she just went in the washroom to get changed, when she came out he was already in bed, she came in from the other side.

"Naira" he said pulling closer her and took her in his arms

"These 2 weeks will fly" he said she snuggled more into him.

"You promise" she asked leaning her head more on his chest.

"I promise jaan" he kissed her temple, she smiled feeling his love, they fell asleep. Kartik had left early the next day for his flight, Naira was still feeling sick but she just thought it was work stress taking on this new case was getting more busy, it had been a few days since Kartik had left, they had both been too busy to video call but messaged each other every other day.

"Aree..I'm still feeling sick,and craving sweet food like when I was with Kittu.. oh my..I'm so stupid of course it.. obviously it could be.. she touched her tummy.

"Mein pregnant hu shayad?.. mein aur Kartik" a little smile played on her lips.

'Hold that thought the home phone is ringing maybe it's Kittu's  day care'

"Hello, hi Lucy" Said Naira but shocked at what Lucy tells her.
