Twenty

Ashton

Shawn arrives at the airport with my car. I hope the fucker took good care of it while I was out. One scratch and I'd run him over. Twice.

"Ashton, glad to have you back" Shawn greets me, tossing the keys over to me as he exits the drivers side. I throw my bags in the backseat and get in, starting up the engine. As the Chevy roars to life, I chuckle to myself. It's good to be back.

"Where to?" I ask him when he gets in the passengers side, a smoke pressed between his lips.

"Take me to Toxic, I wanna get there before they open. I get extra time with the chicks that way" He tells me, smirking at what he just shared.

I dropped off a very action-deprived Shawn at Toxic and drove by the apartment, hoping to settle everything about the rent. I needed to move Kaia back in there asap. We needed to be okay again asap.

I called the landlord and cussed him out nicely before telling him I've transfered the payment to his account. He told me not to do that again, blah blah blah he better watch the fuck out. Kaia respects him enough to leave without a fuss but I don't give two shits who he is, dad's business partner or not. Fuck him!

I get the keys back and tell him to fuck off before walking inside, scanning the place. It was spotless. My woman definitely cleaned the fuck out of this house before leaving it. Fuck she's such an angel, even when forced out she still cleaned the house.

I changed out of my clothes and had a shower. The bathroom still had her scent. It sent me through a wave of emotions and I began to reminisce all the good stuff that went on in here.

"I gotta fucking get her" I grumble to myself, thinking of how I should take action. Should I forcefully get her to come here? Should I tell Dani to? Should I get on my knees and beg for forgiveness? The options were endless but I didn't have time to go through every scenario. Back to reality, I got out of the shower, put on my dark jeans and pulled a white shirt over my head. Grabbing my keys off the counter, I headed straight for my dad's house. Let's just say we had some catching up to do.

Thirty minutes later I pull up outside the gigantic house. It was an odd sight to see him stay in a house for longer than a year. Things must be going well with him, well enough to stay put.

"Ashton" the guy out front greets me with a nod. I return the nod silently, I kinda forgot his name. They all look the damn same to me, all dressed in black with straight faces.

I walked up the large staircase, two steps at a time till I reached the very top. The door to dad's office was open, meaning he wasn't doing anything useful. I strode over and walked right in, forgetting to knock.

"My boy!" Dad greets me, rising from his chair to give me a hug and a hard pat on the back.

"Dad" I greet him, staying still as he hugged me. How awkward. Two grown ass men, hugging it out.

"Have a seat, tell me all about your travels" He says to me, looking genuinely interested in my life. This is new.

"Uhh" I begin, scratching my head trying to think of all the places I've been. "France was great, I loved it. Germany was kinda boring but still some good sights. Every other place was alright too, the food was delicious---especially in Italy. I managed to grab some good shots so hopefully I'll get somewhere with it"

"You're making me want to travel now" dad chuckles deeply, leaning back in his seat. He looked good. Didn't look tired or stressed. "Maybe one day we could all vacation together. You and Kaia and Axel and I" He suggests.

"Yeah. That should be fun" I reply, thinking of taking Kaia on vacation overseas. She would love it.

"So what brings you here? Certainly you didn't drive all the way here for some light chit-chat with your old man" dad asks me, searching for the real reason why I was here.

Should I have another reason? What if I simply wanted to see my father. Was it so hard to believe?

"Just wanted to see you" I said to him, walking over to the liquor table to pour me a glass of something good. I took a nip of whiskey and relaxed, the same strong smell invading my nostrils and the same burning feeling down my throat. "And to ask where Axel's staying.."

"Axel?" Dad questioned, his thick brows knotted together as he tried to recall something.

"Yes, Axel, that fucking asshole with a smart mouth" I answer him nicely, smiling. You know, just incase he forgot who he was.

"When will you two ever get along? And why didn't you pay your rent on time? If you needed the cash son you could always use what I gave you" my father says to me, reaching into his top drawer to pull out a card.

"I don't feel like I should. I didn't fucking make that money so why should I use it?" I question him, pouring another glass for myself.

"I want you to live a good life. You should use it. Your brother has no problem spending"

"Yeah, fucking wasting it! Designer clothes and fucking custom bikes. Big waste" I shake my head.

Dad chuckles heartily, motioning for me to make him a glass. "Yeah he has expensive taste. I blame your mother for that. She was the biggest spender out of all of us"

"Don't" I hold my hand up. "Don't mention that snake. Not when everything's going good for us."

"Alright" dad agrees, taking a sip of his whiskey.

Our night rolled on smoothly, Dad and I enjoying each other's company. He told me all about how fast his furniture business is expanding and the new outlets he'd set up because of the high demand. My old man is doing well. And everything's on the legal side which is a plus in my book. I didn't wanna tell him about Kaia and I's recent fallout 'cause it would ruin the mood. I continued to answer every question he had concerning Kaia, making it seem that we are okay. But even the sound of my voice was betraying me so I covered it up by drinking some more.

"I was thinking of writing up something for Kaia. I would absolutely love it if she had some of her pieces put up in the new outlets I'm setting up. My buyers would be interested aswell. So it's a win-win situation for the both of us, with Kaia also earning a generous amount per sale. What do you think, son?" Dad asks me cheerfully. It looks like he's given this some thought. He had papers and whatnot set out infront of him concerning this.

"I-- I think that would be an amazing opportunity for her. She would be interested, most definitely" I answer him enthusiastically,  thinking of my girl.

"Great! The quicker you can get her to come over to discuss, the better" Dad sounds happy as he takes another sip of his drink.

"Yeah sure" I told him. Now how the fuck am I supposed to tell her when we aren't even speaking? Fuck.

I casually pulled out my phone and saw a missed call from Shawn. What the fuck does he want now? He's being too clingy, I should fucking hit him for it.

"What?!" I growled into the phone, clearly irritated with the fuck.

"I'm at Toxic, the club is packed tonight" He yells out over the loud music I could hear.

"I know! I fucking dropped you off there! Now what the hell do you want? I swear if you're wasting my time I will come there and fuck you up!" I shouted at him, dead fucking serious.

"Calm your fucking ass down, mate. I just wanted to fucking tell you that I seen your girl here"

"Wait, what? Kaia? She's there?"

"Yes you piece of shit. Next time fucking talk proper. You should be glad I called your ass. I'm sending you a snap, go check it"

Dad looks at me with a worried face, probably concerned about my sudden outburst. I didn't wanna talk about it so I just walked outta the room.

"Gimme a sec" I told him before stepping out of the room.

I hadn't realised how long I had been sitting and drinking. My head spun a bit as I left the room and sat myself down in the lobby.

I waited impatiently for Shawn's message, refreshing the screen over and over again till it came. And there it was. Kaia, in the middle of the club right under the blue lights. She was drunk, dancing and looking so fucking hot. In a split second I jumped up and rushed down the stairs out of the house.

Fuck it, I'm going to get her back.

Tonight.
