IT TOOK DAISY A SECOND TO ADJUST TO THE NEW SURROUNDINGS. After that bright light faded, she was met with the sound of cars driving by, and passing conversations. On top of that, an unpleasant smell of garbage. It was difficult to see due to the dark sky and lack of street lighting, but she quickly gathered she stood in an alleyway.
She turns around, still a little dizzy from the sudden teleportation that she was not nearly ready enough for. Kai stood a few feet away, looking around down the other exit.
As he turned around, he walked towards her with a soft smile on his face. "Are you okay?" He asked quietly.
Daisy scoffed, looking at him with worried eyes. "Am I okay? You were like- half dead not three minutes ago!" She said, as he opened his arms out towards her. She collided in a warm hug with him.
He placed his chin on top of her head as he held her close. "I'm fine." He says, satisfaction in his voice. "I feel— I feel great."
Daisy could practically feel the power radiating off of him herself. It was strong, overwhelmingly strong. And she wondered if he felt that too. She felt her all of her worries and stress vanish as she let herself melt into his touch.
"I was so scared." She said quietly, her eyes closed.
His shoulders slumped, and he hugged her tightly again, before letting go and looking at her. "It's over now." He said reassuringly. "I won." You could hear a hint of disbelief in his voice.
Daisy smiled, quickly grabbing his face and planting a quick kiss on his lips. "How do you feel?" She asks, excited for him. As she let her hands graze his cheeks; she noticed the warmth he brought her.
Kai took a breath, looking around, he then grabbed Daisy's hands and held them out in between them. His eyes flickered up to hers, gaging her expression as her eyes stay focused on their hands as they intertwined. He watched her, noticing each subtle flinch and hitched breath. "Can you feel it too?" He asked quietly.
Daisy's eyes met his, nodding.
He leaned in again, grabbing her face this time in an eager, passionate kiss. He smiled as he leaned his forehead against hers. She returned it, excited that he was excited.
He searched her eyes, thinking. "Come on." He says, pulling away and grabbing onto her hand.
Daisy laughed at how eagerly he pulled her out the alleyway. He glanced both directions before stepping out into the street, the area wasn't familiar, and it definitely wasn't Mystic Falls. The buildings were much bigger, much newer.
She followed quickly behind as he guided her down the sidewalks, looking around. Daisy watched as people walked past them on the streets, not paying them any mind. How oblivious they were to the amount of power he held, it was almost laughable.
Kai came to a sudden stop, before turning and entering a building with large, spotless glass doors. Daisy tried to look up and see what kind of place they were walking into, but was pulled inside before she could read the sign.
Across from her stood a large marble staircase, and above that hung a massive crystal chandelier. Looking around, she caught nasty glances from the people who hung around what looked like a hotel lobby. They sat on the nice furniture with expensive drinks in hand, looking at the two who had just abruptly walked in.
Daisy felt herself wanting to crawl in a hole and hide, she knew she looked horrible. On top of the hospital gown, men's coat and boots combo- she was under slept and tear stained. The lingering stares from the pretty women in little black dresses didn't help.
Kai walked over to the front desk, pulling Daisy along who was still in hand. The man watched them as they approached, a hesitant look on his face. "Can I help you?" He asked, Daisy could hear the distaste in his voice. She swallowed harshly, looking around at the expensive lobby.
Kai inhaled deeply. "We'd like a room." He says. "A suite. Your nicest one." He corrects.
Daisy turns around to catch the guys expression, his eyes were raised as he examined the people across the desk. He forced a smile. "Our Empire suite is available, but it is nine hundred and forty per night." He speaks.
"Not a problem." Kai sighs happily. "We'll take it." He says, Daisy looks at him confusedly.
The concierge glances at Daisy, then back to Kai hesitantly. "Okay." He forces another smile, he holds out his hand, assumedly for a credit card or payment of some sort. "I'll get that booked for you."
Kai nodded happily, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his wallet. He hums as went through the minimal items it held. Daisy turned back to the concierge returning an equally as fake smile as he waited for Kai.
"Phantamogriphia decorum." Kai mumbled, before pulling out a few dollar bills- and handing them to the guy. "There's a thousand. Keep the change." He smiled.
Daisy had a mix of confusion and intrigue on her face as she watched the man accept it, no suspicion or hesitation on his face. Kai kept a steady eye contact with the man as he accepted the money and put it in the register, before typing a few things in the computer.
"What's your name, sir?" The concierge asks.
Kai sighs frustratedly, before leaning forward towards him. "Just get us the damn key." He says quietly.
Daisy felt the brush of magic sweep past her, then watched as the guy unknowingly reached below the desk and grab the right key. Handing it to them with a dead look in his eyes. "Enjoy your stay." He said, before Kai grabbed it from him.
"Thank you so much." Kai smiled, before turning around and sighing happily.
He pulled Daisy along towards the elevator, passed the nosy onlookers who not so subtly watched them walk on. Daisy got a little too tired of their stares, and flipped them off angrily as Kai pulled her onto the elevator.
"Daisy," Kai laughed, pulling her hand down as the elevator door closed.
She first examined the elevator, which was made entirely of marble with gold decals, then turned to him. "How did you-" she shook her head confusedly.
Kai shrugged. "I don't know." He smiled. "There's so many spells I didn't even know existed and now-" he thought for a few seconds. "And now I have them all perfected." He narrowed his eyebrows, in disbelief himself.
Daisy smiled, opening her mouth to ask a question- but stopped when the elevator doors opened. Kai walked out first, Daisy watched as he flexed his fingers at his side, feeling out his new magic. She'd be lying if she said that the sudden increase in power didn't turn her on a little.
She stood by his side as he stopped at a door, and used the key handed to them by the concierge to open the door. He swung it open, and held it for Daisy as she walked in first.
Large windows covered an entire wall, the lights from whatever city they were in shined through and dimly lit the dark room. A large neatly made bed sat opposite the window.
Daisy was too busy looking around at the intricate details to had noticed Kai walked in and already opened a bottle of champagne.
The foam quickly spilled onto the carpet and Daisy burst into laughter as Kai struggled to catch it with his mouth. He eventually gave up, letting the alcohol spill onto the white shiny floors.
Daisy walked further in, letting herself take a moment to breathe as she looked outside. "Where are we?" She asks, examining the skyline.
"Richmond." Kai says, searching through the cabinets for champagne glasses, assumedly.
Daisy nodded, before stretching with a satisfied exhale. She took off the large coat that she'd had on for just a minute too long. She wished she was in something a little more flattering than a hospital gown as she caught her reflection in the window. She laughed as she sat on the soft bed, in disbelief as to where they were and how they got here.
Her bones ached, and she wanted nothing more than to fall back into the bed and pass out. Kai walked over to her with a glass and she accepted it, clinking it against his. "Cheers to becoming the leader of your coven, and getting us a fancy hotel room." She nodded, before taking a sip.
Kai scoffed, before falling back on the bed himself. "Where do you want to go?" He asked.
Daisy turned around and looked at him with narrowed eyebrows as he lay back on the bed, eyes on the ceiling. "What do you mean?" She responded.
He leaned up. "I mean, unless you want to stay in Virginia. But there's a strange amount of vampires walking around here, so- maybe not."
"Wait like-" Daisy was taken aback. "Like live somewhere?"
"Preferably, yes." Kai responded.
Daisy smiled, returning her gaze to the window as she processed his words. She hadn't even had a second to sit down and think about this, about what happened next. They were finally able to live out their lives- no more chaos. "Hm." Daisy let out. "Some place warm." She said. "I liked San Diego. But I was there alone so it could be different. And Miami was nice too but it'll probably be too touristy."
Kai watched her as he spoke. "We can try them both. We can go all over the country." He said, leaning on his side. "We can go to Europe or—"
"Venice." Daisy said excitedly, turning to face him. "Or Santorini."
Kai nodded. "We can do whatever we want."
Daisy took another sip of the champagne in her hand, smiling softly. She thought over his words, trying to imagine how much her life is going to change for the better. Finally, she could rest. She wanted to cry with excitement, knowing that all this pain was worth something. She was finally getting a break.
She turned to him as he lay back on the bed, remembering the question she was going to ask a few minutes ago. "What did Josette mean earlier?" She asked.
Kai clenched his jaw, sitting up beside her. "When?" He asked.
"She said that you cheated." She said. "That 'Luke won and you know it'." She used air quotes.
Kai shook his head, standing up and taking her now empty champagne glass from her. "She was just being a sore loser." He says, as he sets both of their glasses down on the bedside table.
His answer didn't make her feel any better, and confusion still lingered on her face. "But, why did she look at me? Like I'd done something-"
Kai cut her off. "She's trying to get in your head." He says, walking back over to Daisy who still sat at the edge of the bed.
He bent down, leaning on his hands that sat on either side of her on the bed. She looked up at him, her breath hitching slightly. Quickly, she leaned in.
Slowly, he kissed her. Like he'd been waiting for a moment like this, with just the two of them, no distractions, for days. He leaned further in, causing Daisy to fall backwards. She used her hands to keep her upright.
She pulled away from him for a moment, a move that makes him voice his disdain for it in a low groan of protest. "She said- right after you said that Luke knew what he was doing- she looked at me and said 'did she?', what does that mean?" Daisy asks, confusion on her face.
Kai clenched his jaw. "It doesn't matter, Daisy. She's jealous." He says. "Jealous that I got you and she didn't." He whispered quietly as he leaned back in.
Daisy smiled, laughingly slightly. She kissed him again, and as he trailed his mouth down to her jaw, she lifted her chin up to give him more access. "You're right." She let out quietly.
She brought up a hand to the back of his head, running it through his hair. Now only leaning on one hand, she lost what was left of her balance keeping her upright, and she fell back on the bed. Kai fell with her, and it was if he barely even noticed the change in position as he was too focused on kissing her.
There was a sense of something she couldn't exactly name in the air. His hips reflexively knocked against hers, and his smile against her neck is a mischievous prelude into what she could only imagine would come next.
Daisy felt herself smiling as she held onto him, letting her head fall back and her body relax at his kisses. "We could've done this at a cheap hotel too, you know?" She hummed.
He snorts, focusing his attention back to the juncture of her neck. His mouth presses even-numbered kiss to the supple skin with bruising fervor, trailing down across her collarbones.
"That's no fun." Kai says, after lifting his head up and bringing his attention back to her.
He admired her face, brushing stray dark hairs off her cheeks and out of the way. Daisy felt herself blush as she smiled softly, examining the boy she really thought she had lost.
She remembered their first night together. It seemed so long ago, the novelty of that night, when everything was new, fragile, foreign. She met a new side of herself, that at the time, was so terrifying. But it was her. And he showed her that.
Daisy slowly lifted her hand up, grazing her thumb over his soft lips as she let herself admire the moment. How far they've come- how much they've changed. She was happy, truly. Something she never thought she deserved, or would ever really feel again. But she felt it, deep in her core. That feeling that he could only grant her.
She spoke with no hesitation, as she knew her thoughts had never been clearer. "I love you." She let out softly.
Kai's eyes softened, and he wondered if he heard her correctly. His heart began to pound, and his mouth gapped open slightly. He had nothing to say, no awful form of self-deprecation to speak. Though his mouth unmoving, his mind is racing.
His eyes darted in between hers, and he could hear the truth in her words, for the first time. He's heard her say it before, but this was the first time it reined true.
"Daisy," was all he could say, in a soft hushed tone. "Daisy, Daisy, Daisy." He murmured, as his eyes examined every inch of her face. "I want you."
It was a change in pace, the sudden, subtle seriousness his tone takes. The question, the way he's posed it, is tentative. Tedious, like he's nervous, half mulling over the words while they're spilling out of his mouth. His eyes were focused on her lips, eagerly beginning to inch closer to her again.
Her breath hitched, and her heartbeat stayed at an naturally fast pace. The thing he did to her were unexplainable, even only in his quiet words. Daisy felt her teeth graze over her bottom lip as she thought of her next words. "Then have me." She responded, so quiet that she wondered if he even heard if.
He kissed her like he needed to possess her. It was passionate and eager. His left hand slipped behind her back and he violently grabbed the elastic of her panties. He managed to slide her underwear down her thighs, and his fingers went up to take refuge in the pressing heat of the inside of her thighs.
It was unexpected, but she couldn't complain. Her chin lifted quickly as she dug her head deeper into the soft white sheets. "Kai," she whined, notching her legs around him, a pathetic attempt at seizing any sort of the friction he's withholding from her.
"I'm right here." He answered back before taking her lips, his tongue forcing its way into her mouth. His lips are nothing but devastating as she writhed below him.
Her hands left his back, and from his moaning she realized that she was holding on to him by the tips of her nails. "Daisy.." he mumbled against her, and she suddenly remembered how he liked the pain. Her hands found their way inside his pants, quickly helping him get rid of unnecessary clothing.
In a clumsy cluster of hands, she helped him take his way back to her core. "Does that feel good?" He asked, his eyes trained intently on her, watching every faltering breath and quivering lip with a fixated awe. She could barely bring herself to nod.
He pulls his hand from the warmth between her thighs, silencing her whine with his mouth against hers. He kisses her feverishly now, hurried as his hands pull his boxers down just low enough.
Her nails found their way back to his flesh, making him arch a little more as he felt the pain spreading into his body. Her hips rose and and he wrapped her legs around his back so as to give her the leverage she needed to pull him into her. And she tried, but he held her still, admiring her in both the purest and impurest sense.
His gaze is nothing but loving, and filled with adoration for her debauched state. She almost cried again as she felt him thrust into her, but she buried her face against his chest to catch her breath. He let out a throaty moan before bitting his own lips to contain his pleasure. She gently pulled on his hair and forced him back down to kiss her, bitting on his upper lip.
Drunk from his touch, it seems as though all she was capable of doing was lifting her hips to meet his, creating as much tension as she possibly could add—only to be met with his forceful hands holding her hips back down.
His momentum turned languid once more as he relished in the sight of the point at which they met. The tendons in his neck strain, and he lets out a gravelly rasp. He lost into her, burying himself all the way inside her core. With an arduous roll of his hips, he felt her falter around him.
Kai remained on top of her for a moment, head tilted forward so he could rest against her shoulder. After a moment, her hands released the cruel grip that would probably leave scars on his arms and back. Carefully, the tips of her fingers brushed over his cheeks, neck, and the back of his head. After several seconds, his breathing got steadier and he fell next to her on the large bed.
Daisy turned on her side, giving him a soft smile. "I love you." She repeated, like she was making up for lost time.
Kai leaned in and planted one last quick kiss on her lips. "I love you too." He responded softly.
