Chapter 13 - Hold me
The next day at school Kageyama had everything, having gone to the police department with Hinata's mother and got his suicide note earlier. With Hinata's mothers permission, he took it to school with him to read it to the volleyball team. He also took each hand written letter Hinata wrote for almost everyone on the volleyball club.
There was already a small memorial for him outside of the Hinata household, Shouyo's mother had made space in her small garden for people to come and plant flowers or leave them to plant later for him.
Almost every flower left was the same, Orange Zinna flowers. Their orange and yellow petals that stuck out in almost every direction reminded everyone of Shouyo's untamed hair and his bright personality that just stood out from the rest- what made Shouyo..Shouyo.
He walked into school, his head low as he space next to him where Hinata used to walk with him was empty. No one bouncing and yelling random stuff about their night at him or things about god knows what.
The bright light that lit up not only his, but most peoples days was gone.
Never to be seen again because Kageyama made such a simple yet vital mistake.
Half the school was quiet that day, people coming up to the volleyball team and saying things like 'I'm sorry for your loss' and 'Are you okay?'
Of course they weren't okay.
They just lost their Sunlight.
Through out the day Kageyama gave everyone their letters, none of them wanting to read them straight away, decided they wanted to read it when they got home where it was more private.
At Lunch he sat with Kiyoko, the both of them eating in silence until Kageyama broke it "I could've saved him, Kiyoko. He would still be here if I just tried harder-!" Tears started building up in his eyes again, he was never one for crying, he'd never found a reason to. Yet now he couldn't stop.
"Kageyama..don't say that-" Kiyoko said, trying to comfort him, yet she couldn't bring her eyes up to look at him
"But it's true, you and everyone else knows it!" Kageyama snapped at her, his expression constantly shifting between mad and sad. "H-he's dead..and it's all my f-fault.."
Kiyoko just sighed, knowing that nothing she could ever say would change his mind, instead just wrapping her arms around him in what she hoped was a comforting hug and hummed.
Kageyama continued to cry, letting himself relax into Kiyokos arms. He didn't care if anyone saw or if anyone judged him. He just lost who was supposed to be his best friend and he did nothing to stop him.
