Kageyama turned off his phone as he waited on the couch for Hinatas mum to come home, whilst he did he thought over everything that happened and what he could've done to prevent it all..to save him.

He didn't realise how much time had flown by until he heard the door gracefully slam open and a worried, drunken voice call out a now pain-filled name "SHOUYO?! SH-SHOUYO ARE YOU HOME-?!" Kageyama quickly got up and dashed over to help who he recognised as Hinatas mother

"K-kageyama?! Wh-what are you doing here- Where's my Shouyo?!" She would've cotinued to yell but when she saw that the young man was crying she froze, the few times she'd seen Kageyama around she just gathered him as the type to never cry, so seeing this came as a shock to him

"I-I'm so sorry..I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I-I'm sorr-" Kageyama rambled on as he fell to the floor in front of her, bowing at her feet, but stopped when he felt a soft hand touch his hair and gently stroke him "So it was true? Th-the news..is he- did he-?"

Kageyama nodded, muffled sobbs leaving his mouth as he got pulled up into a hug by Hinatas mother "Don't apologise, Tobio. Never apologise again for this, okay? It isn't your fault-!"

"B-but it is! I-I promised I'd never leave him! I promised that as long as he were alive I'd always be by his side and that I'd have his back- I promised! A-and now he's gone and I did nothing to stop it! I just cried like a child!" Kageyama cried out into her neck as she continued to caress him

"M-our Shouyo was a stubborn kid..e-even if anyone tri-tried...with a-a-all our might no one wou-would've been able to c-convince him other-otherwise, once he has his m-mind on something it-it's already t-too late" She said, trying her best to not stutter and speak in a calm tone to reassure Kageyama, when all she could think of was the exact thing. That maybe if she wasn't so harsh, maybe if she didn't call him such things, of she didn't blame him and act the way she did towards him- maybe he'd still be here.

"He-he um..left s-something for you" Kageyama forced out, not understanding why he found it so hard to speak "St-stay down here, you're drunk and I don't want you getting hurt. Once I'm back down I'll carry you to the sofa and get you comfortable, you're in no shape to go upstairs. Okay?" He didn't need a response and just stood up, quickly going and getting the letter addressed to 'Mum'.

Once he got it he ran back downstairs and gave it to Hinatas mother as he took her to the sofa and got her comfortable. "I'll give you some space..call me if you need anything, okay? I'll just be in the guest room" Kageyama said as he bowed and started walking away to go upstairs

"KT-Tobio..w-wait-!" When she said that Kageyama stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at her "Y-yes?" He asked as he looked at her

"Thank you."

And with that Kageyama nodded at her as a you're welcome before continuing upstairs.

She didn't call for him until an hour later, and when she did she couldn't stop crying. "Thank you, th-thank you for making my Sh-shouyos time as great as he ever wished i-it could be. Thank you for being the l-light in his life, T-tobio. Even if you d-didn't know you we-were" She said as she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.

"I-" "Shhshh, it's okay. Y-you don't need to s-say anything, just please, keep me com-company?" The woman quickly interrupted him, to which he just nodded and sat down next to her. She turned on the TV and put on a movie, saying how it was always Hinatas favourite.

And that's what they spent their night doing, laughing away their pain and numbness that had entered their life when Hinata left.
