Part 18

KHUSHI

As we walked out, I felt happy to be back home, but I also kind of felt sad, I had such a great time in Mauritius, it dint even feel like work, it felt more like a holiday.

Arnav walked on my right, talking to his father on the call while Rahat walked in my left, continuously staring at me and making me feel awkward.

Even in the flight, he was just being extra nice to me, it was like his behavior towards me had taken a one eighty degree turn, I wasn't even sure what was going on in his mind.

"I need to rush somewhere, dad gave me something to do, unfortunately only one car came to pick us up so you have to wait until another one comes." Arnav said.

"It's okay, I can drop Khushi home in a taxi." Rahat said.

"You don't have to do that, its home, I can take a taxi on my own, plus I don't think you would want to ruin your image by driving in a taxi." I shrugged.

"I can do it, I'm sure bro wouldn't want you to go alone as he promised your mother you would be safe, what if something happens to you on the way, right bro?" Rahat smirked as he looked at Arnav who nodded.

"He is right Khushi, let him drop you." Arnav said.

"If you say so sir." I pouted, I really dint want to go with him, especially not now when he was acting all good, I don't know what he was up to and it was kind of scaring me.

Arnav got in the car and drove off while Rahat found us a taxi, we put our luggage in the booth and then sat inside.

"See, since I met you I've started doing things I thought I'd never do. Don't you still believe that I really like you Khushi?" He asked as the taxi driver started driving.

"No Rahat, I only know the Rahat who likes to sleep around with his managers and just so you know I am not one of them." I shrugged.

"Hey, don't judge me by my past, what should I do to make you believe that I genuinely feel for you."

"Nothing, because even if I believe it it's not going to help, I'm not looking for a relationship right now." I sighed.

"But I really like you Khushi." He pouted as he looked at me making a cute face, it almost melted me, almost.

"Okay Rahat, I believe that you like me but sorry I don't like you back, now can you please let this go?" I asked feeling irritated of his behavior now.

"Okay, I get it I'm not the man you would think of spending the rest of your life with." He sighed, I looked at him in disbelief, seriously? He wanted to spend the rest of his life with me? Why? I was confused, was he really saying the truth? Did he really like me?

The driver stopped outside my house, I couldn't wait to see mom and Kabir, I had missed them, I stepped out of the car and rushed inside in a hurry forgetting that I also had luggage to get from the car.

I rang the doorbell and mom opened the door, I hugged her excitedly.

"I missed you mom." I said as I held on to her tightly.

"I missed you too, you dint tell me you were coming back today, I would have at least cooked something for you, you must be hungry." She looked at me worriedly, seriously I loved her, she always cared so much about me, she was the best mom ever.

"I am not hungry mom, I just wanted to surprise you and now we both can cook together, see that would be great." I said excitedly as I looked inside the house trying to find Kabir.

"Where is Kabir?" I asked.

"It's a weekday Khushi, he's at school remember? But he would be back soon, it's almost time." She said as she looked at her wrist watch.

I nodded just when Rahat stopped beside me as he put my suitcase down, I looked at him and bit my lip.

"I am sorry, I forgot to bring it out, I just wanted to see mom first." I said to him.

"It's okay, I understand. Anyway here's your luggage, I'll see you at work tomorrow. Bye." He smiled as he waved a goodbye at me and then bent down and touched mom's feet too. Wow this was a surprise, had Rahat Raizada really changed?

"Sorry I dint even introduce you, Rahat this is my mother and mom this is Rahat, Arnav's brother I work for them both." I smiled.

"Nice to meet you Aunty." Rahat smiled as my mom smiled back at him, she was continuously staring at him and admiring him, from her expressions I could say she was impressed by him, I don't know why but yeah she was.

Why was everyone impressed by Rahat except me? Dint they see what I saw?

"Oh My God! Am I seeing Rahat Raizada in front of me?" Arohi screamed as she appeared out of nowhere, how did she even know I was coming back? I dint tell anyone.

Rahat just laughed as he looked at Arohi who was going gaga over him, let's just say she was one of the craziest fan, she also jumped on him and Rahat was just there being awkward, thank God he wasn't rude or anything to her.

"Please marry me, I love you so much." Arohi looked at him making a puppy face.

"Seriously Arohi, you're making him awkward." I nudged her.

"Oh shut up, you can't understand the emotions of a die-hard fan." He shrugged and looked back at Rahat again as if she was completely in love with him.

"Aww, that's sweet, I would surely marry you if I dint want to marry someone else, but for now she's playing hard to get." Rahat smirked at me, both mom and Arohi looked at me in shock, jeez why was this guy so obvious and why did he have to say something like this in front of them?

"Rahat I think you should go now, you need to rest you must be tired too." I said trying to drive him off, I was so done with his flirting.

"Or you could stay and have dinner with us?" Mom asked excitedly. I knew my mom very well and I knew in her mind she was already fixing my marriage with Rahat, what was with moms and wanting to get their daughters married off?

"No mom, Rahat doesn't eat in such places." I said hoping he wouldn't agree, please don't agree.

"I would love to but maybe some other time? I am really tired today, but I promise I would show up one of this days to eat dinner with you." He smiled, mom nodded excitedly.

Thank God he refused and knowing Rahat I knew he wasn't going to come for dinner which was good for me, I wish he could leave already.

"Okay, I'll get going then." He said as he waved goodbye ad everyone and then secretly winked at me and he walked away, I wish I could kill him.

Once he was gone, I found Arohi and mom staring at me.

"What?" I asked as I headed inside and settled down on the couch.

"He likes you doesn't he?" Mom smirked.

"Oh My God. Rahat Raizada likes you and you're playing hard to get, what the hell is wrong with you Khushi?" Arohi looked at me like I was insane.

"Uh so what if he likes me, I don't. Besides I have a lot more to concentrate on than some famous flirty boy trying to flirt with me, we all know he isn't serious." I shrugged.

"But what if he is?" Mom asked, was she really thinking Rahat was serious? Oh sweet mom, you don't know this guy at all.

"I don't want to talk about it please. You tell me how you knew I was coming back?" I asked Arohi.

"I dint, I just came to visit aunty, I've been coming daily since you left so she doesn't feel lonely." Arohi said.

"Really? That's so sweet. No wonder you are my best friend." I said as I hugged her.

"Yes, I am and now your best friend needs to know a lot of things that happened in Mauritius, I mean what did you really do to have him like you so much?" Arohi smirked.

"For the last time, he doesn't like me! He's just flirting he does that with every girl." I said as I stood up angrily.

"Come on Khushi, he said he wanted to marry you, even though indirectly, people that flirt don't talk about marriage, aunty am I right or not?" Arohi looked at mom.

"I think she's right, how about you give him a chance and get to know him?" Mom suggested.

"No! I want to study, I want to work earn some money and finish my studies, that's all I can think off, please don't try to set me up with a guy here." I was now frustrated, why did that idiot Rahat have to open his flirty mouth here?

"Khushi, I've always let you make your decisions, but as your mother I also want to see you married and settled in life, plus it's not every day a guy like Rahat gets interested in you. I know you think he isn't serious but for once believe he is, what would you do then?" mom asked.

Wow, this had gone from just Rahat's stupid flirting to my mom and my best friend thinking of me getting married to him, what the hell was wrong with them?

"Mom, I am not looking for marriage right now, why is it a must to get married so soon?"

"Are you telling me you don't want to get married ever?"

"No mom, of course I want to, but not right now, maybe someday in the future when I find the man I can love."

"What if Rahat is the man? Look Khushi I'm not saying you get married right now, but it clearly seemed he liked you and maybe if you give him a chance and get to know him, you might like him too, all I am saying is try to get to know him that's it." She said.

Why are mothers so convincing, and how did she even see any good in Rahat?

"Okay for your sake I'll try knowing him, but I guarantee you he isn't the man I would want to marry and I'll prove that to you." I said as I headed to my room, I don't believe mom talked me into this? How do mother do this?
