Chapter 40

Atmika and Jin were sitting in their room, listening to the melodies as they dimmed slowly and  stopped eventually. The presents which were to be given to the guests were under Atmika's jurisdiction, and she had to make sure that no one goes disappointed from Dwaraka. And although someone going disappointed from Dwaraka was an impossibility, she still had to give her best. She was a perfectionist, not a quality she admired, cause it left her insecure often, but nonetheless... Jin decided to help her for the guests were plenty.

"Dwarakadhish aur unki bansuri. Kabhi kabhi toh lagta hai ki koi mohini mantra pdhte rhte hain aapke jyeshth bhrata." Jin looked at her, and then went back to jotting down the names of the guests. "So toh hai. Unhe aise hi thodi log Mohan kehte hain." She said, covering the plate of exquisite silks with a velvety red piece of cloth having a golden border representing love and divinity, on which the royal insignia of Dwarka and Avanti was implanted perfectly, marking the close bond the two kingdoms shared.

"Aap kahein toh mai kisi din unki bansuri chura laun." Atmika looked at him with her brows raised as she kept the plate at one side, while he focused his attention on the list in an attempt to avoid eye contact with her. His cheeks adorned a pinkish hue. "Aapko sunakar waapas kar dunga." He clarified further, lest she thought she married a thief or something.

Atmika smiled. Jin was nervous. Well, that was definitely a first. Generally, she was the one blushing in his presence. "Voh Dwaraka ke maharaj hain, Arya. Kahin aapko kaaragaar mein na daal dein" She teased.

"Aap saath chalein, toh mai kaaragar bhi sweekar kar lu.", He looked up, only to find her looking at him already. Their eyes met, and Atmika soon lowered her eyes as her cheeks turn red. Yet again. It's a regular occurrence in his presence. She sometimes wondered, what'd he think about her. Little did she knew that he always found it cute. Even now, a smile made its way to his face when he saw his ever so charming queen blushing.

"Haan toh kya keh rahe the aap?" Aradhya asked when the melody stopped. The couple was sitting at their usual meeting place which was hidden behind a string of trees and bushes, conveniently hiding them from the general public view. Exactly in front of where they were sitting now, was the place where Tae proposed Aradhya, and she accepted; the place where the beautiful journey begun.

As of now, Tae was sitting with his back supported by a tree, his head resting against the bark and eyes closed gently, while Aradhya laid on the grassy ground with her head resting on his lap, her body turned eastward.

"voh... voh mai..." He was unable to complete the sentence. He still vividly remembers the day when he proposed her. He thought it was the hardest thing to do. Probably because he was almost certain he'll get rejected. And so, when she accepted him, he was in seventh skies. And then came the blush on her cheeks, making him wonder whether the universe was conspiring to draw him insane. As various thoughts raced his mind in a speed rivalling the speed of light, he voiced out one of them randomly. Tamatar. The thought still makes him chuckle. Tamatar, a nickname with which he still loves calling her.

"Kya baat hai?" She pressed, being calm and composed, as she usually was. He remained silent, his thoughts yet again taking him back to the previous day when Aradhya proposed that they should get married. He was ecstatic at first, like a usual lover. But her next sentence fortunately brought him back to reality. And since then, he couldn't stop thinking about it.

Get married. To whom? She doesn't even know who he actually was. But then, do Atmika and Shivali know? The thought didn't even cross his mind, and probably wouldn't have crossed either, had Aradhya not mentioned marriage yesterday. Of course, she wants to meet his parents, and wants him to meet hers. She said that as thrilling as the clandestine relationship is, she wants to continue it officially with the blessings of elders, and well wishes of friends.

But now that he thinks about it, marrying the girls here does not make any sense, unless they're sure that they're going to be here forever, which they aren't. What if tomorrow they were back to their dorm? Or what if they get an opportunity to leave? Will they not accept it? Will he not accept it? He knows he will. Because although, he came to love this place and the people; although he lost his heart to a certain woman, he has his parents, his friends and his family back there to whom he has certain obligations. But, what about Jin and Suga. They've obligations in both worlds now. What'll they do?

If they decided to stay, they'll stay with guilt. If they decided to leave, they'll leave with guilt. And what about the women. Won't they be considered widows if the boys left? And although fortunately, there wasn't any specific rule to be followed by widows, widow remarriage was not encouraged either. The girls will have to live their life alone, or possibly, as a hermit. Although knowing Dwarakadhish and his tendency to break those rules that don't serve any purpose, that'd be highly unlikely; but certainly, not impossible.

So, what is he supposed to do? Tell Aradhya the truth. Well, to be fair, he tried. But he is unable to. What to do, then? He probably knows what to do. He knows he needs to talk to the boys, and if it means revealing his relationship to them, then, so be it. But he'll make sure that the girl he loves will live a happy life, with or without him. And doesn't she also love Dwarakadhish?

She will live happily. I'll make sure she does. And what about bhabhishris? Honestly, I don't know
