Episode 1 - New Challenges Approaching

Izuku's narration

So much happened since that fateful day I met the world's best heroes.

I saved my childhood friend from a monster.

I trained with the Justice League to prepare for UA.

I beat the entrance exam and my class' first test, followed by beating my rival in an indoor match.

I even fought a couple of villains along the way.

I guess most would think I already proved I was a hero and wouldn't even need UA to be a hero...

...but the attack at the USJ was a reminder that none of my class including myself was ready yet to be fully fledged heroes.

The villains came closer than ever to killing All Might, Japan's number one hero and the Symbol of Peace.

If it wasn't for the league arriving on time to stop them, All Might, Aizawa and 13 would've all been casualties caused by the League of Villains.

My classmates thankfully weren't too traumatized by the event, but I still had some concerns about the villains.

Who was leading the villains in that attack?

Shigaraki was too reckless and immature to pull an attack like that, almost acting like a spoiled kid.

Whoever sent that attack as well as the break in was sending a message: evil was ready to be more organized to destroy heroes.

For now, our hero course moves on, but UA would try to assure it doesn't happen again.

Classroom 1A

Everyone was finally back in class after having been gone for a while from the attack at the USJ.

Hagakure says to the class. "You guys, did you watch the news last night?"

"Yeah?" Ojiro replies, not sure what she was getting to.

"It was so cool we got few extra seconds of screen time!" Hakakure says in excitement before saying in disappointment. "Though I bet no one noticed me hanging out in the background."

"Probably not." Shoji replies back to her.

"It was difficult to stand out when you're just gloves." Ojiro points out to the girl.

"We're totally big deals." Kaminari says while leaning back in his chair. "Those news channels love us. We're basically celebrities."

"Yeah it's kind of crazy, right?" Kirishima adds.

"I've been on TV a few times with my friends, but we never sticked around to talk to reporters." Beast Boy says laying back.

"Get over yourselves!" Jiro tells the boys. "The hero course that pumps out Pros was attacked, and that's all they care about."

"Who knows what've happened to us if the teachers hadn't showed up." Sero says.

"Why'd you say that?!" Mineta says in panic. "I'm gonna pee myself just thinking about t-"

"Aw shut up!" Bakugou yells at him. "Grow a pair, loser!"

"Did you see All Might fighting that bird guy?" Sato says in amazement. "That guy was super strong, and he still destroyed him!"

"Yes. His strength is truly a thing of wonder." Tokoyami agrees with him.

"Attention! Home room class is about to begin!" Ida calls out as he rushes in. "Everyone take your seats!"

"We're already in our seats, Ida." Jaime points out to him.

"Yeah. You're the one that came in here running." Beast Boy adds.

Ida takes a seat and mutters to himself. "Dang it!"

"Hey Tsu, who do you think is gonna teach class today?" Mina says while leaning back in a chair to Tsuyu behind her.

"No idea. Mr Aizawa's still recovering in the hospital from his injuries." Tsuyu thinks to herself some.

They all hear someone come through the door and look to see Aizawa himself covered everywhere in bandages.

"Morning class." Aizawa barely says past the bandages muffling his face.

"Mr Aizawa, what are you doing here?!" Most of the class says in surprise.

"Whoa! What a Pro!" Kaminari says in shock at seeing their teacher was allowed to come.

"Dude! How did he even get out of the bed?" BB said.

"Me Aizawa, I'm glad you're ok!" Ida says while raising a hand.

"You call that ok?" Uraraka says quietly, noticing the state of the teacher.

"My well-being is irrelevant." Aizawa says as he reaches the desk. "What's more important is that your fight isn't over yet."

"Our fight?" Bakugou says.

"Don't tell me..." Izuku thinks in slight worry.

"Not more bad guys!" Mineta says as he shivers from what happened last time.

"The UA Sports Festival is about to start." Aizawa tells the class.

"Yes!" Kirishima says in excitement.

"You almost scared everyone here." Jinx says, remembering how she was almost hunted down that day.

"Let's go kick some ***!" Kirishima yells before he was interrupted by Kaminari.

"Wait a second!" Kaminari speaks up as he quiets Kirishima.

"Is it really such a good idea to hold the Sports Festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" Jiro asks, pointing out the obvious.

"They could attack once we're all in the same place." Ojiro adds as well.

"Apparently, the administration thinks this is a good way to show the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever." Aizawa answered them. "Plus, they're beefing up security compared to past years. This event is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It's not something we can cancel because of a few villains."

"Uh...I'm sorry, but why not? It's just a sports festival." Mineta says, still shaken by the past event.

"Mineta, don't you know how important this competition is?" Izuku tells the grape hero.

"Of course I do, I just don't want to get murdered." Mineta replies.

"Uh excuse me, but what is the Sports Festival?" Beast Boy asks, scratching his head. "Do we play football or soccer in this?"

"It's basically a major competition between students at UA, but we're allowed to use our powers instead." Jiro answered him. "It has two major competitions that narrow down all students until a few are left to compete in a fighting tournament."

"Cool! That sounds like the most fun we'll have ever!" BB says with an exciting smile.

"Our Sports Festival is one of the most watched events in the world." Aizawa tells the class. "In the past, everyone obsessed over the Olympic Games, but then quirks started appearing. Now the Olympics have been drastically reduced in terms of scale and viewership. For anyone that cares about competition, there's only one tournament that matters: UA Sports Festival."

"That's right! And top heroes everywhere will be watching." Momo says as she clutched her fist. "This is where you get scouted."

"Sure, unless you're dead." Mineta says before Raven blocks his mouth with her powers.

"She's right!" Kaminari agreed with Momo. "After graduating, some people join agencies as sidekicks."

"Yeah, but that's as far as some people go." Jiro says as she looks at him. "They miss their chance to go indie and stay eternal sidekicks. Actually, that's where you're headed, you're kind of dumb."

"It's true that joining a hero agency can garner you greater experience and popularity." Aizawa explains further to the class. "That's why the festival matters. If you want to go Pro one day, then this event can open a path for you. One chance a year, three chances in a lifetime. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this festival. That means you better not slack off on your training."

"Yes sir!" The class responds back.

"Class is dismissed." Aizawa tells them.

Izuku ponders some on this news.

'This could be the big test Superman was talking about when he said I would get in. Students from numerous classes will be there, some even the top of the class. If I can win, this is plenty to show I've already made it further than anyone.'

Later at the classroom during lunchtime...

"That villain stuff sucks. Sure." Kirishima says as he grins. "But I'm pumped for these games!"

"We put on a good show, then we're basically on the road to being Pros!" Sero says as he comes over to him with a smile as he playfully elbows him.

"Yeah! This is why I'm even here in the first place!" Sato adds as he punches his fist into his palm.

"I've got this whole tournament in the bag!" Beast Boy smirks as he leans back in his seat. "With so many animals I can turn into, I can beat most of the school in strength and speed."

"We get so few chances, so we have to make the most of this." Tokoyami said while sitting on the desk.

"Oh man! Ojiro, I'm getting kind of nervous about the festival!" Hagakure says. "I have to come up with a way to get noticed!"

"Uh sure...maybe you should looking at getting a shinier costume or something." Ojiro replies awkwardly. "Otherwise, you're going to have to try really hard."

"At least I can see what she looks like with X-ray vision." Kara says from her seat.

"Wait...really?" Ojiro says looking at her.

"What's the point? I stand out even when I'm standing still." Aoyama says as he smiles while posing. "That means the scouts won't be able to take their eyes off me!"

Raven rolls her eyes and sarcastically says. "Sure. I bet some agency would make a fortune selling sunglasses to shield their eyes from you."

"You're so lucky, Shoji and Jaime." Kaminari comments to the big armed student. "People are bound to notice your unique powers."

"Sure, but what matters is I show them how useful I can be." Shoji responds back.

"I'm with you on that." Jaime nods with him. "My powers won't matter if I can't show them how they would work."

"No doubt you'll make a scene too." Jiro jokes, pointing out how he pretty much acts like an idiot every time he discharges his powers, earning an annoyed grunt from the lightning student.

Tara and Jinx giggle at this, trying to hold back from the hilariousness of the moment.

"This is going to be nuts! Everyone is so excited." Izuku says to himself as he watched his classmates converse with each other.

"Well yeah, of course we are!" Ida says as he gets up from his seat. "We enrolled at this school with the sole goal to become heroes, so naturally we're all getting fired up."

"Wow Ida, those are some interesting moves. Ribbit." Tsuyu compliments Ida when she sees him moving back and forth.

"You have to be excited too, right Midorya?" Ida asks him.

"Well yeah, of course I am." Izuku replies back before adding. "And also a little nervous."

"Deku! Ida!" Uraraka says getting their attention, showing the most intense face she's ever given. "Let's do our best in the Sports Festival!"

"Uraraka? What happened to your face?" Izuku says, holding back the urge to jump back from it.

"Seriously, what's up?" Mina says in confusion. "You're normally like the most laid back girl ever."

Mineta was about to say something, but Tsuyu immediately hit him with her tongue to prevent him from making whatever perverted comment he had.

"Everyone! I'm gonna do my best!" Uraraka says with fist raised in the air, getting cheers for it, only to yell it again and get everyone looking at her awkwardly for how out of character this is for her.

——————————————————————

Later near the lunchroom...

"Hey Uraraka?" Izuku says to her as they were in the halls together.

"What's up?" Uraraka said, open to listening.

"Why did you decide to come to UA?" Izuku asks her. "What made you want to be a Pro Hero?"

"Um...well because..." Uraraka says before quietly telling him.

"For the money?" Izuku says, surprised a girl like her would do that. "You want to be a hero so you can get rich?"

"If we're cutting to the chase, then yeah." Uraraka says nervously. "I'm sorry if it sounds greedy! You two have such admirable inspirations! I hope you don't think less of me now!"

"Not at all!" Ida tells her. "Your goal is to support your well-being, which is a perfectly admirable ambition to have!"

"It's just kind of surprising." Izuku adds with him.

"I didn't even know you can get paid to be a hero." BB says. "I worked a day job for a few weeks just to save up money for a moped, but all I had to do was come over here and get hired by a Pro?"

"Well that was definitely worth several hours of your time." Raven comments.

Uraraka sighs and explains to them. "Well you see...my family owns a construction company, but we haven't gotten any work lately, so we're flat broke. Anyways, this isn't something I usually tell other people, but....."

"Construction, eh?" Ida says as him and Uraraka's friends think.

"If she got licensed, she could use her quirk to bring costs down a lot." Izuku says as he looks at him with his idea.

"And they could sell their heavy lifting equipment." Ida adds as well. "She could float everything."

"The company could also get paid by other enterprises internationally to build structures in different countries." Jinx points out to them, knowing billionaires would pay big cash to have creative construction like that to build mansions and skyscrapers.

"I know, right?" Uraraka said turning to them. "I've been telling dad that since I was a kid, but....I'm going to become a Pro. I'll sign with a good agency and make plenty of money. Then I'll be able to let my parents have an easy life."

Ida could only clap in approval of Uraraka's dream. "Beautiful! So noble! Bravo! Bravo!"

"There's nothing to be ashamed of if the money you're trying to get is to help people, even if it's only your family you're giving it to." Kara smiles at Uraraka. "What matters is that you're using your powers to put someone else before yourself."

Izuku thinks about Uraraka some. 'She's not here for the excitement or glory. She's more grounded than most of the school.'

The group then hears a laugh and sees All Might coming in.

"Young Midorya......is here!"

"All Might, what are you doing here?" Izuku asks him as him and the transfers were the only ones not surprised to see him.

"Lunch." All Might says as he shows a bag. "Care to join?"

"That's so adorable!" Uraraka says.

"Uh sure." Izuku says before following the hero.

'Is there something wrong?' Izuku thinks to himself.

Later in the lunchroom....

"I wonder what he wanted with Deku?" Uraraka says to Ida as the group waits in line for food.

"I heard Midorya tried to save All Might when he was in trouble back at the USJ." Ida says. "And do you remember when he told us he was trained by Batman and the Justice League?"

"Yeah?" Uraraka nods while listening in.

"Perhaps All Might is impressed by Midorya's skills and quick thinking and may consider giving him an opening to his agency." Ida answered her.

"Good point." Tara nods in agreement. "If he's going to prove he's got what it takes to be one of Japan's top 10 Pros, he might as well get taken in by one of the best."

Little did they know, Todoroki was listening in on the group.

'All Might and Izuku Midorya, huh?' The half hero thought.

Meanwhile at the Watchtower...

The league had met again to discuss more events surrounding Izuku's progress in school. While it was big news that villains had tried to harm students in the USJ, Batman was currently on the case to find the actual leader responsible for the attack. There was something important for both the league and Midorya that needed their attention: the Sports Festival.

"I'm still not convinced that this festival is more popular than football." Flash shrugs some. "I know it's fun to use powers this way, but come on, you can't expect this to be popular in every country with a screen."

"This feels like it's Greek legends coming here to the present to compete in the Olympics." Diana comments. "Except the actual games are less popular than this."

"Regardless, we won't just be there to watch the students compete or cheer Izuku on." Superman says to the group. "We're there to scout out anyone we can see as future members or offer training to any students we choose to train."

"Why not just pick Izuku and have him train here like always?" Green Lantern asks.

"Yeah. If all of the agencies reject him, it only makes sense we bring him back here so he isn't stuck doing nothing." Hawkgirl adds as well.

"Apparently, there are some rules that will restrict Midorya down to make sure he isn't trying to cheat his way up and give the other students a chance." J'onn answered plainly.

"Japan's quirk society may be different from how everyone else does this, but we still have to respect their rules, even if this means Izuku has to go against harsh conditions." Superman tells the team.

"Then how will he be able to make it without an internship from anyone?" Diana asks him.

"You can still get picked if you demonstrate your skills well enough." J'onn tells her. "All Midorya would have to do is show everyone watching that he can handle most problems without powers and limited use of his gadgets."

"That's going to be pretty tough with the roaster going in there." GL said. "Especially since Superman's cousin in his class."

"No biggie." Flash said. "The kid managed to survive Lex and the other baddies a few times, so what's the worse a bunch of rookies with powers can do?"

—————————————————————

Meanwhile in the Lounge Room...

"Only 50 minutes?" Izuku says, a little surprised by the news from All Might's injury.

"Yeah, that's how long I can use my powers now." All Might answered as he fills a cup up. "I overdid it too many times. That Nomu was a real tough customer, it took a lot out of me. At this point, I can barely look like All Might for an hour and a half."

"I'm so sorry... I should've just-" Izuku says, feeling regret before he was interrupted by All Might.

"Don't apologize, you saved a lot of people that day, including your teacher and your classmates." All Might tells him. "If anything, the situation is my fault since I overworked myself and walked right into a trap meant for me. I should've just stayed at the campus and let Batman and the others handle it."

"I guess after all these years, I still have the habit of handling a situation on my own instead of relying on others to help." All Might adds. "Kind of strange it took a man dressed as a bat and you to make me realize that maybe I shouldn't be too focused trying to take on a threat solo."

"Anyways, I actually called you here to tell you about the Sports Festival." He continued. "Everyone is going to be watching it, including the Justice League making their appearance for the first time there."

"So I guess that means not only is all of Japan watching, but many heroes in America and around the world will be watching too?" Izuku says as he pictured the day of the tournament.

"Yeah, which means there's a lot of heroes that will want to work with you, especially after you graduate." All Might nods to him. "But there may be some rules you'll have to know the tournament and the school is placing on you."

Izuku nods and replies. "I know I can't use gadgets for the first two events and my gadgets in the fighting tournament will be limited to 3 for each round. Which means I'll have to be quick and think hard if I want to even make it past the first round."

"It's not just that, but something else." All Might tells him. "You're going to be put on a national-only list alongside the transfers that will bar you from getting internships in other countries for your first agency."

Izuku's eyes widened at the news. "What?! You mean the league can't train me even if they wanted to take me in?"

All Might rubs his neck some, not liking having to drop the news to him like this.

"This was put in place so you could  be pushed to try harder than the other students. Remember, you got into UA on both the regular exam and the league requesting you get a spot in it to try entering, so the school knows you were being trained the strongest team on the planet. You can't exactly wave your recognition by the league around and expect all of the other students to be okay with it. You need to show the world that you're not special because Superman let's you fight alongside him, but because you can be a valuable ally for justice."

Izuku thinks about this for a bit and nods. "I'll do my best then."

"That's the spirit, kid!" All Might says giving him a thumbs up.

"By the way, how's that search for a heir to your quirk going?" Izuku asks him

"I'm still not sure who I can pick as a worthy successor." All Might says tapping his chin. "I was almost going to give it to you so you could be the one, but after Superman turned down the idea and after seeing you do so much better without powers, I'm back at square one of figuring out who's worthy."

"Someone will show up someday to pass it down for you. I'm sure of it." Izuku tells him.

——————————————————————

Meanwhile at LOV's secret hideout...

"So what would one of the richest men in the world need over here?" Shigaraki asks with a bit of arrogant annoyance to him. "Getting tired of fighting Kryptonians?"

"As much as I'd like to finish off that boy scout myself, I decided I needed to expand my options more." Luthor tells him. "I saw how close you and your team were to defeating All Might and I decided to make a proposition to you and your mentor."

"Go on..." Shigaraki says, bothered he even has to be in the same room as a guy he considered idiotic.

Luthor explains to the other villains.

"Every single time I face Superman now, he has his precious league around to back him up whenever I bring the Kryptonite in. I can hardly accomplish anything with him surrounded by so much help, even with the Injustice Gang, but that's because I haven't thought.....bigger. Given how close your team was to winning and how my team has started to become a nuisance, I want to offer....an alliance with the League of Villains."

The billionaire presents a lead suitcase to them, which Shigaraki opens to see a small glow come out of it.

Luthor continued to them calmly with a smug smirk on his face. "Keep this with you in the event that Superman shows up to foil you, then finish him as quickly as possible."

"Is that all?" Deathstroke asks the rich villain.

"I came to offer you some new members for the LOV as well." Lex says as he snaps his fingers and a few figures. "Why don't you introduce yourselves?"

Several figures reveal themselves to the villains, most of the LOV except Shigaraki and the man on the screen were surprised seeing them here.

"So here's my bargain. You help me destroy Superman and the Justice League in the future, and I'll give your team plenty of members to help you destroy All Might." Luthor says confidently. "Do we have ourselves a deal?"

The room was silent for a bit, the tension on the deal a little noticeable, though Lex seemed unfazed, as if he knew he was going to get what he wants.

"You have yourself a deal, Mr Luthor." The mystery leader on screen answers.

Preview!

Next time, it's the moment you've all been waiting for.

The Sports Festival will begin!

Will Izuku win in this timeline? Or will it be even worse than in canon?

Find out in the next episode!

——————————————————————

This series has returned!

My apologies to everyone who waited so long and got not many answers, but I managed to work on this when I could.

Hopefully I can at least try to make progress for this.

Side note, I noticed some people put Season 1 in lists that usually listed this as lazy or they're uncertain about this.

That's kind of fair anyways since I didn't exactly know that people would like this crossover when I first tried it, so most of the series started with me repeating lines from both series and trying to fit in extra moments for the other characters.

But for every weak Season 1, there's always a Season 2 that's the best part of the show, so this one should be promising.

All I know is that this one is going to be the longest of the series until I reach "Unlimited Plus Ultra".

And I mean there will be A LOT of episodes in this book, so I doubt getting done in a year is possible.

I appreciate all of the support and ideas for this and I always look at the comments to hear any "What ifs" I could try to add, even if it's just a hero making a guest appearance.

Anyways, I hope you're more excited to read than I am writing it.

I'll see you guys in the next episode! Bye!
