"Those creatures," explained Diana, "are known as Parademons. They serve one master. His name is Darkseid. He is from the planet Apokolips. His General was Steppenwolf. They called him the end of worlds. Millions fell before his blade, or rose again as his Parademons, nightmare creatures who feed on fear. Darkseid and Steppenwolf have conquered many planets for eons, and sought after the Anti-Life Equation. It all started in the 10th Century. Steppenwolf tried to conquer Earth with his army of parademons and the combined power of the three Mother Boxes." Batgirl curiously raised her hand and said, "okay, I can get the Parademons, Steppenwolf, and Darkseid are from another planet, but what are Mother Boxes?" Wonder Woman looked at Green Lantern and asked, "care to explain, Hal?"

"Sure," said Green Lantern, "according to my ring, Mother Boxes are powerful devices. They don't contain power. They are power itself. Carried from planet to planet, the Mother Boxes combined to form the unity. An apocalyptic power that not only destroys worlds, but transforms them into the primordial hellscape that is Apokolips. They can change the gravitational constant of an area, transfer energy from one place to another, sense danger, sense life, create force fields, rearrange molecular structure of matter, absorb or project powerful shock blasts, create electro-webs, control the mental state of a host, communicate telepathically with a host or other life form, manipulate the life-force of a host to sustain it past fatal injuries, open and close Boom Tubes, take over and control non-sentient machines, evolve non-sentient machines, merge sentient beings into a single more powerful being, sustain a life form in a hostile environment such as space, and do many other things. And the ring is only scratching the surface on what these things can do. Anyway, we're getting off subject, care to continue Diana?" Wonder Woman nodded and said, "thank you Hal. Steppenwolf was arrogant as he was fierce and ruthless, like any conqueror. He underestimated the people of Earth. We should have died. But we formed our own unity. He did not expect a unified army of Olympian Gods, Amazons, Atlanteans, all the tribes of men, and several Green Lanterns to oppose him. Together, this unified army fought side by side. Warriors of Legend, allies from other worlds, even the gods themselves all acted as one. Laying down their lives to drive Steppenwolf away. Some say it drove him mad. The disgrace of his first retreat. He swore our alliance would crumble. That Darkness would cover the Earth. And that he would return when it did. Left behind, the Mother Boxes were too dangerous to be kept together. The Three Mother Boxes were separated to be guarded. One was entrusted to my people, The Amazons. One to Atlantis, both sealed and guarded in secure strongholds."

"And the third one resided on Planet Oa, the headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps, which is where I go for meetings, inititations, and trainings," explained Hal, "I work for them basically. The Green Lanterns protect the galaxy in sectors. This earth is part of my sector, Sector 2814." Batman looked at Hal and said, "you used reside in a past tense. Did someone take it?" Hal sadly nodded. "Was it Darkseid?" Superman asked. "No, Steppenwolf." Hal confirmed. "Is he planning on coming here?" Batgirl asked. "Not coming," said Hal, "he's already here."
