Epilogue
"Darkness, the truest darkness, is not the absence of light. It is the conviction that light will never return. But the light always returns, to show us things familiar. Home, family, and things entirely new, or long overlooked. It shows us new possibilities and challenges us to pursue them. This time, the light shone on the heroes, coming out of the shadows to tell us we won't be alone again. The darkness that could have consumed our world was deep and seemed to swallow all hope. But these heroes were here the whole time, to remind us that hope is real, that you can see it. All you have to do is look, up in the sky."
Barbara smiled as she finished reading the Daily Planet article written by Lois. "That was sweet of Lois," she said as she, Hal, and Bruce were in a new hall. It had been a week since the Justice League saved the world. At that time, Diana stepped back into the light as a public hero, Barry acquired a job as a forensic scientist at the Central City Police Department, Arthur embraced his Atlantean heritage, Victor has been learning new abilities he possesses at STAR Labs with his father, Hal accepted his duty as a Green Lantern, and Clark proposed to Lois and now they're engaged. "Guess Clark really liked the name Justice League," said Hal as he smiled. "So these will be our new base of operation?" Barbara asked. "Exactly, seven chairs," confirmed Bruce, "but always room for more."
"Hall of Justice. I like it," quipped Hal. "Wait, the eight of us stopped Steppenwolf," acknowledged Barbara, "so shouldn't there officially be eight chairs?" Bruce looked at Barbara and said, "Barbara, this team needs a leader. And I believe you're better qualified to lead this team than I am. The Justice League is yours, Barbara. I have faith you'll do great. They'll look up to you. You're the best of all of us." Barbara was overwhelmed. "Bruce, I'm so honored," said Barbara, "thank you so much!" She happily hugged him. Hal smiled and said, "we got your back Babs." Suddenly, Barbara heard a familiar noise. She turned around, and saw it was the TARDIS! Out of the TARDIS came a black furred Scottish Terrier wearing a tan trenchcoat, a red bowtie, and a red and green Tam O'Shanter. Barbara knew this dog. It was Dr. Woof!
Hal raised an eyebrow and asked, "is that a...?" Bruce nodded and said, "yeah." Dr. Woof wagged his tail. "Dr. Woof!" Barbara said excitedly. "Ello lassie," the Canine Doctor said in his deep Scottish accent. Barbara happily petted him, scratching his ears. "A talking dog with a Scottish accent? Okay..." Hal said. "You're acting like this is the weirdest thing you've seen," said Bruce. "Well, we do have a talking squirrel for a Green Lantern, so I guess weird is an everyday thing," said Hal. Dr. Woof jerked his head asked, "aye, did ye say squirrel?" Barbara chuckled and said, "you had to say that word. How've you been Dr. Woof?" The dog answered, "aye, travellin' the Multiverse and such. We got a lot to talk about, Barbara."
