Sunday evening
I had the best time at your place, Valt.
It was just like old times. The dreary person you had become on Friday vanished and was replaced by the normal you. I like the normal you better than the sad one. When I asked you what had to do with it, you just shook your head and changed the topic to food. I wonder if it had something to do with Free.
The weekend was the best. And it was great catching up with Toko and Nika. It's quite obvious Nika had a crush on me. I could tell by the way her cheeks went pink and her eyes lit up. It was alright, though. Just a childish crush. It all happens. I just wish that if an Aoi had to like me, it was you. But everything was perfect.
Except for one, small, teensy detail.
I decided to stay longer for the sleepover. We had so much fun I didn't want to stop. Everyone went back home and we went to the park, dangling our feet of the ledge. We chatted for an hour, even though it felt like five minutes to me. We laughed in the setting sun, and it almost felt like old times. Almost.
I clearly remember that odd thing happening so quickly. We were just laughing about Wakiya's face when we pranked him. "Oh, that was so funny."
"Hilarious!" Valt gasped for air, clutching his stomach as tears rolled down his cheeks. I laughed even harder, until it felt like my stomach was going to explode. I sighed and laughed quietly, the aftermath, and lied back onto my arms. "You know, today so much fun Shu."
"It was," I smiled. The next words completely slipped out of my mouth without any control. "I love hanging out with just you."
I didn't expect your reaction.
The wind blew our hair back, so I could see your brown hues shining in the sunlight so clearly. Your eyes glimmered curiously at me, as if observing me for the first time. A grin broke your face. You paused, and said, "Yeah. Me too, Shu."
Before I could reply or even register those words, a rustling behind me could be heard. Your eyes flitted away from me and to the bushes behind me, your eyes and mouth widening in shock and recognition. I turned my head and quickly as I could, but all I saw was a golden flash. Could just be from the light, though. "What was that?"
"Excuse me, Shu," you stood up and ran towards the bushes. "I need to deal with something. Catch you at school, kay?"
"Alright," I agreed reluctantly. You were already gone from sight as I stood up and slung my bag around my shoulders.
I wonder what, or rather who, that was.
Love,
Shu.
