Tuesday evening
Dear Valt,
Today was slightly better than yesterday.
School was still pretty much the same as three years ago, but I'm glad Free had basketball training and couldn't sit with us. I can't stand the thought of you two dating, even though I know you are happy. It still hurts.
We didn't talk at all personally during the day, even though we were best friends three years ago. I wanted to talk to you so bad, but I never found the right words.
But you did.
After school, we met up at a bus stop. You had to catch it to Toko's basketball game, which, I learned, is where you and Free started talking since he is Toko's team coach. Coincidentally, the place is near my apartment.
The bus was taking so longit was no surprise we started talking. But what is a surprise is how easy it was to make a conversation with you, how nice and comfortable it was. We soon started laughing and chattering away. It reminded me why you were my best friend.
I think it reminded you too, because when the bus came and Chiharu appeared, you two both invited me to your house for a sleepover with the group. But not Free, because Chiharu doesn't trust him since she's heard about him breaking hearts like an f-boy. She's probably scared that you'll be broken as well.
I tried not to smile at that.
As we arrived at our stop, I tried not to feel sad. So far, it had been my best time in these two days in Japan again. Catching up with Chiharu was nice, but talking with you was so much better. You seemed hesitant before inviting me to watch the game, but I had homework to catch up on as the Japanese curriculum is ahead of the American one. Your disappointment was evident, so I couldn't help but feel bad.
Still, I'm excited for the sleepover.
Love,
Shu
