Chapter Ten
Carl slowly stood up from Michonne's body, his father still crying there.
He walked over to Enid, who still couldn't stand. Carl had tears in his eyes but he swore to himself not to let them go, not to show pain. He couldn't show it in front of Enid. He had to reassure her that everything was okay, and that everything was going to be okay. But for some damn reason he just couldn't.
"Enid..." he whispered, trying to put his unsteady arms around her to lift her.
Enid said nothing and continued to cry, not noticing the grasp Carl was trying to put her in.
"Enid..." he said a little louder, getting his fragile arms around her chest.
Enid kept crying without a word as she was lifted off Maggie's stomach. She blew into tears, creating a strong grasp with Carl. She fell into his arms and just cried for what seemed like hours. She enjoyed his comfort, but she just couldn't accept it. She couldn't accept the fact that Maggie was gone. Maggie's baby as well. If she would've at least been born, it would've calmed Enid a bit, knowing they could take care of the baby. But the baby was gone now, gone forever, in Heaven with Maggie and Glenn. And that made Enid happy, knowing they were together again.
It made Carl happy as well, not the subject of Maggie's death, but knowing she was with Glenn, Hershel, Beth, and her baby and their loss family members. They were all together happily. But it didn't stop him from crying.
It didn't stop anyone.

Enid lay in her bed, feeling pain from her stomach but ignoring it. She couldn't handle life anymore, all she wanted was to leave. To leave with Carl and her baby. Go somewhere they could be happy and not the shitty world. Far, far away. But she didn't want to die. She wanted to stay and take care of her beloved child. As did Carl. But it was just hard.
Carl lay beside her, her head on his shoulder. He saw her wince a couple times.
"Are you okay?"
It was the first word spoken in days between them.
"I'm fine," Enid said. Her voice was shaky and wavered and she just wanted to cry. Sit and cry forever in Carl's arms.
"You don't seem fine. Does your stomach hurt?" Carl asked, concern filling his eyes, but Enid mumbled "no" and covered her face with her hands.
It really did hurt, though. A little too much.
"You're in pain?"
"Please just leave me alone." Enid said plainly, her head filled with millions of thoughts, though she felt so dull. So blank. So hollow.
"Okay." Carl responded, nodding his head and focusing on other things. She just needs space, so I'll give her some. Carl thought. She'll be better soon enough.
It's not that Carl had forgotten Michonne, and it's not that he didn't care. It's just that he'd been through so much, seen so much, lived so much, that he couldn't bear to cry anymore. He'd lost his mom, and he had had one. Michonne was like his mom, and he loved her. He cared for her. But now she was gone, too. But he had to get over it. He had a life to live, a purpose to succeed, a baby. And he couldn't think about it. He had much more to think about.

There was no sound, no spoken words for a few more days. Until one day, Enid chose to speak up. Carl and her were sitting in the bed when she spoke.
"She told me she would find me." Enid whispered softly.
"She what?" Carl asked, not knowing his heart would brake soon.
"She said, "Enid, I will find you"...." Enid sighed, taking a breath. "Why did she say that?"
"That's exactly what Glenn told her...." Carl whispered.
"What does that mean?" Enid asked, shocked that Maggie would say that and completely broken.
"She'll find you... she'll be with you.... she'll stay with you no matter what..." Carl said, he took a guess but he knew it was the truth.
"Forever." Enid whispered. "She'll stay with me and be with my forever."

I really enjoyed writing this chapter. It was very heartfelt for me, and I just loved it so much. I know it was a little fast paced and not much dialogue, but I really needed this, and I hope you needed this just as much as I did and enjoyed it. Bai! ;)
