Chapter One

Hilltop.... one of the small houses....

Enid looked in the mirror and sighed to herself, her hands were clutched into fists as her back touched the bathroom wall. Her eyes shut tightly and she clenched her teeth, tears streaming down her flushed cheeks. She leaned over and threw up on the ground, adding to the repulsive smell.
She titled her head back and looked up at the ceiling, ignoring the gruesome scent. She stared for what seemed like hours, until a soft knock shook her. She looked at the puke beside her, and feeling sick again, she threw up.

"Enid? Is that you?" Maggie's soft voice asked carefully, her hand on the knob.

"M... Maggie?" Enid choked.

"Can I come in?"

"I threw up, it smells bad..." Enid said, but at this point she honestly could care less for the stench or her appearance.

"Honey, I don't care. Are you okay?" Maggie said, the door knob turning.

"Come in, please!" Enid cried, grasping onto her stomach and throwing up again.

"Oh God, Enid! What happened?" Maggie asked, falling to Enid's side and wrapping her in her arms.

Enid said nothing but lay in the comfort. She felt cozy and warm, but the pain still wouldn't go away. She looked up at Maggie.

"Maggie.... my stomach is in a lot of pain..." she said sadly, her head dropping.

"Oh, baby. Come here." Maggie said, lifting her as best as she could. Her grip was unstable, considering she had a baby in her stomach, she felt weak. But she helped Enid to her bed and sat her down.

"Rest. I'll go get you some water." Maggie said, rushing out of Enid's room.

"Okay," Enid whispered, even though Maggie was already running downstairs.

Enid felt bad that Maggie had to do this for her, when Maggie had a baby in her stomach that could honestly come any day.
Enid's eyes fell, she looked at her stomach, even though the shirt was covered in chunder and an utter smell, she remembered Maggie doing this once in her early stages of pregnancy.

Maggie rushed into the room, a large glass of water was clutched tightly in her hand. "Here, baby, drink."

Enid took it thankfully and drank all that she could, but she just felt so sick. Enid took her sweater off and had a white t-shirt under it. She threw the sweater aside, leaving the smell still in the room.

"Baby, I'll get that for you." Maggie said, she picked it up without even flinching and walked out of the room.

Enid looked at her stomach again. She lifted her shirt and placed her hand on it carefully, she just felt so odd. She'd never felt like this before, and she hadn't gotten sick in a while. She tried to excuse the thought of Maggie, substituting it with it was something she ate.

Maggie came in once more, her eyes gentle. She walked over to Enid, who still had her hand on her stomach.

"Does it hurt, baby?" Maggie asked, placing her hand on it as well.

Enid felt herself tense up. "I... I don't.. I don't know. Yes. It... it does hurt, but... but Maggie?"

"Yes Enid?" Maggie asked, taking her hand off and instead placing it on Enid's shoulder.

"Maggie, I had sex with Carl....." Enid said, trying to steady the words and calm herself.

Maggie's heart skipped a beat, but she tried not to show how alarmed she was.

"We... we didn't use protection..."

Maggie's eyes widened. "E.... Enid......"

"Maggie..?"

"How long... how long ago was this?" Maggie asked, her eyes steady on Enid's stomach.

"About two months ago...." Enid said, her head fell to her stomach again.

"Enid...." Maggie said, this time locking eyes with her.

"Yes?"

"Enid, you're pregnant."
