The Girl who Conquered Death by Anon

An anonymous writer wrote this amazing short story about a girl who overcomes the seemingly impossible.

Isla Shellie was a fifteen year old girl who conquered death each day. She liked to think as a blessing and a curse; the blessing being that she was alive still and she hadn't died and the curse being that she never knew when death would take her.

Each time before she conquered death, she would hear a "move out of the way." From a man or a woman. The sounds of the screeching tires would follow.

It would replay everyday. Until one day, her eyes opened to a bright light. Her first though was that, death had already took her and this was heaven. But then, she smelt something like what hand sanitizer and what the sound of plastic gloves smelt like. She moved her head and then looked at her body; bandages and bruises covered it.

She then remembered what had happened to her. She was walking down the street of her neighborhood later at night from her friend's house. A driver (might've been drunk) didn't see the girl and crashed into her. The sound alerted her mother. What the mother saw terrified her; the blood had been drained from her face and she was pale as a ghost.

She then came back to reality and then saw her mother run into the hospital room. Instantly, the mother was pushed back by the doctors who crowded the girl.

"Where am I?" Isla asked.

"You are at the hospital. You were in a pain induced coma for two weeks." The doctor replied slightly shocking Isla. She missed school for two weeks. All that work.

The doctors started to unhook her from all of the machines and then started to do tests. Days passed by and the mother was handed papers for the girl to be released.

"That wound should be a reminder," the doctor looked at Isla, "Pay attention." He said and then walked off.
