It's Bedtime by @jujubok
jujubok wrote this terrifying short story which will leave the hairs on the back of your neck standing up!
A lamplight flickered in the midst of the night, and the wind howled and banged against the door of a house, wanting to be let in. The woman inside was unfazed by the outdoor noises and resumed watching The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. That is, until she realized she forgot to tuck her child in bed.
"I am a horrible mother," she told herself, " he's probably lying in bed waiting for me to read him a story."
She slipped off the couch and began to walk towards the child's bedroom. The floorboards creaked and wheezed with every step the woman took. She mentally kicked herself, telling herself that if the child was asleep, he wouldn't be now. She eventually made it to his room.
"M-mommy is that you?" the little boy squeaked, rubbing his eyes, "Where were you?"
"Mommy's so sorry, she just lost track of time," she responded.
"Oh okay. Can you read me this?" the boy asked, handing her a book.
"Alright," she answered.

After a delightful bedtime story, the mother kissed her child's forehead, and stood up to leave.
"Wait!" the young boy whisper-yelled, "Can you check for monsters under my bed?"
"Of course honey," the woman giggled.
She knelt down, and her eyes met a pair of chocolatey brown ones.
"Mommy, there's someone in my bed," it murmured.
It took the woman a minute to realize she was staring at the face of her son.
"But that's impossible, he's in bed," she told herself.
She looked from under the bed to the bed. She saw her son. She looked from the bed to under it. She saw her son. Then she realized there were two copies of her son.
She began to back up, looking bewilderedly at both duplicates. As she was backing up, she tripped over a toy and fell to the floor with a loud "Thud!" The woman grabbed the object nearest to her, a light brown baseball bat, and threw it at the child in bed, hoping the illusion would stop. Instead, the boy fell to the floor, his body crumpled and still.
The child under the bed scrambled out and stood up. He looked up at her, his eyes flickering with mischief.
"You missed," it hissed, and a Cheshire cat-like smile appeared on its face.
The creature lunged.
