And he spun her round and round
And round
Til she was dizzy
In between her laughter she could see him
A smiling face, a tight grip on her hand
She was sure he would never let go
The world was her axis
And she orbited it
But he was the pull that kept her
Gravitating
And she spun round and round
And round
From the circle of his arm
Underneath and above
And with one last happy gasping breath-
A one-second panorama of the swaying tree branches and the moving clouds
The spinning buildings, the shifting ground
His blurred, forever smiling, trusted face-
The tight grip was loosened
He let go
He opened his palm wide
And she fell
Unto the crisp fall leaves
With the world spinning in her vision
With the laughter stuck in her throat
And an empty hand
It took a while for her surroundings to come into place
But when they did
Oh, she looked around
Smiling, like he was playing hide and seek
Like he was waiting, waiting
For her eyes to focus and land on him
Just so she could
Run to him and
Jump back into the circle of his arms
And she got up
And she spun round and round
And round
And
He was gone
The branches were swaying and the clouds were moving
But the buildings were stiff before her and the ground was firm
And she knew
She choked out the laughter
Choked on it like poison
Because she knew
She was just dizzy
And he was only a blur

And she spun round and round
And round
Eyes closed
Imagining
His tight grip
His forever smile
Hearing her laughter ringing from above
From somewhere in the air where she'd first released it
And she fell back unto the ground
Right where he put her
With the leaves clinging to her skirt
And twigs decorating her hair
He messed her up
He made her world a blur
With him her only constant
And then
And then
And then he
He
He left her to gravity
