Chapter 31
Chapter 31
"You're feeling okay? Your hips, your back? Even the bruises and cuts have healed? You don't feel nauseous?"
Nagisa rolled his eyes as he dragged his boyfriend out of the house to catch the train. "I'm fine for the 20th time, mom." Karma scoffed. "I'm sorry for worrying."
Nagisa giggled, excitement pouring from his chest as he and the red head caught the train. He was finally going back to school. It had been weeks, almost a month since he had returned.
There was a slight delay because of Karma's... desires, but Nagisa was all healed up and full of energy. He was ecstatic to see everyone and how they were doing, but most of all, he wanted to go back to his assassination routine.
Only a few assassinations had taken place over his absence, and he couldn't wait to hear the results and mistakes, assuming Koro-sensei was still alive.
The train came to a halt, and Nagisa enthusiastically hopped out, running up the mountain with a red head in tow.
Once at the top, he raced in, finding his classroom and thrusted the doors open. He panted from the thrilling excitement, watching as his classmates snapped their heads to him.
"Guys!" He yelled, making them all have big smiles. "Nagisa!" They all screamed back, rushing to meet him. "Where the hell have you been?!" Sugino asked in the sea of students.
He laughed, hugging Kayano tightly. "You know, stuff."
"Funny how once you return, so does Akabane," another shouted teasingly. Karma smirked, flipping his bangs mockingly. "I return when I want to. Its just a coincidence."
While Nagisa was answering questions from his new crowd, Karma touched his back, telling him he was going to his seat. Nagisa glanced at him, nodding with a small smile and pretending nothing happened.
"You better tell me everything!" Kayano exclaimed, putting her hands on her hips to emphasize. "You'll be the first to know," Nagisa winked.
Well, only some of it.
~~~
"Nagisaaaaaaaaa-kuuuuuuuuun!" A big yellow octopus with joyful tears made his way through the crowd, holding onto Nagisa dearly like his own child. "Oh, I've missed you! Where did you go? You know it's not good to skip class!" Nagisa cleared his throat, not expecting this reaction out of an alien.
"I was b-busy."
While the octopus cried, the blunette made his way to his seat, sighing in exhaustion from the sudden attention. He knew his class was happy he was back, but he wasn't expecting all this chatter.
He knew today was going to be a long day.
~~~
"Finally!" Nagisa sighed as he sunk into the couch. Karma laughed, putting away their coats and such before sitting down next to him. "Today made me tired," he whined childishly, snuggling into his boyfriends side.
"I almost thought you were going to fall asleep," Karma replied, playing with the tips of the smaller boys hair.
Nagisa laughed. "I would have if I could. Koro-sensei looked so happy though, I felt bad for sleeping in his class on my first day back."
Karma chuckled. There he goes again. Talking about other people and taking their feelings into his own hands before himself. "I like that about you," Karma stated suddenly.
"What?"
"You think about others before yourself. You don't even hesitate, and your answer is always the same." Nagisa looked up at the red head.
"But I also hate it about you."
"Whaaaa?"
"Nagisa, I know this sounds selfish, but you need to care for yourself a little more. You can't just take others scratches all the time, one day you may not be able to. So, for me, please, take care of yourself and think about yourself a bit more."
Nagisa's heart started to pound. His breath hitched. "Karma..."
He never really thought about himself, he always tried and put others first. Himself... who was he?
Tears started to spring from his eyes, he nudged himself off of Karma, showing his tears rolling off his cheeks.
"I-I miss him," he started, sniffing and sobbing. "I miss my d-dad. I don't u-understand why he d-d-died. I didn't even k-know him. I don't know w-who killed h-him." His body shook as more tears fell freely. "I-I'll never k-k-know him. I want him b-back."
His eyes widened in realization as his face started to become wet. "I don't even know where he was burr-ied."
Karma smiled sadly at him. "What do you want me to do?"
Nagisa sat for a minute, rubbing his eyes and swallowing the big lump in his throat. "Comfort me," He choked out. "Hold me and make me feel happy again. Please... you're all I have."
Karma took no time to wrap his arms around his small frame, pulling him into his warm chest and letting him soak his tears on his long sleeved shirt.
"D-don't leave me," He heard Nagisa mumble on his chest. "Please, d-don't leave m-me. L-like him. L-like her. I don't h-have anywhere e-e-else to go... please..."
Karma gently caressed his back. "Shhhh. I'm right here. I'm never leaving you."
He felt Nagisa smile faintly against his chest. "D-don't let that be a lie... this time."
Guilt travelled through his veins, but he welcomed it. He deserved that. In truth, he was waiting for Nagisa to finally admit that this was all his fault. But because Nagisa was so kind, he couldn't. Here it was, the confirmed feeling of distrust he had towards him.
Karma tenderly placed a lingering kiss on Nagisa's head. "I promise... this time, I will never leave you."
