prologue

'chug' 'chug' 'chug'

The crowd kept chanting.

I don't know why I said yes to the game of beer pong. It makes me get drunk, more than I ever plan to.

I swallowed the disgusting liquid and the crowd burst into cheers.

The sounds made my head spin. I had the sudden urge to throw up.

I got up and rushed towards the nearest toilet and hurled my guts out.

I slid down the wall and sat on the dirty floor holding my stomach.

It hurts like hell.

Maybe you shouldn't have said yes. My conscience spoke.

But I know it's too late. The alcohol started to take its toll.

They say it feels better after you throw up. But it feels worse.

I hate parties. I hate getting drunk. But being on the top of the social ladder has its cons.

You have to party and get drunk to maintain popularity and avoid being bullied.

Let me tell you a little about myself.

My name is Asher Hales, I am in my senior year. As I said before I stand at the top of the social ladder. Whatever you call these days, a jock.

I never had a real girlfriend. I do one night stands but I don't break hearts.

I slowly stood up still holding my stomach, and walked towards the sink.

I looked into the mirror. My hair was a mess. Half of it was sticking onto my forehead and the rest was a brown mess on top of my head. Sticky and sweaty.

My eyes half closed, looked dead. There is nothing special about them, they are plain brown.

I rinsed my mouth with the mouthwash and washed my face to get rid of the sweat.

The room spun when I stood up straight.

I avoided it and walked out of the bathroom and out of the house.

I had to head home. I can't stay here for any longer.

I didn't know which way I was walking, buy suddenly I found myself in an alley.

There was one Street light at the end of it.

Suddenly a sound of someone running made my heart rate pick up. I sped walked out of the alley expecting to find civilization.

A group of people ran by me not even noticing me.

They bumped into me which made me stumble on my steps.

I regained balance and turned around to see if there are any other people around.

My heart stopped as soon as I saw someone behind me.

It was a girl. I couldn't see her face since the light was behind her. Her dark curls were flying in the air. She was clad in dark jeans and knee length Jacket.

I gulped as I saw her take out the gun and point at me.
