I sat on my bed, texting Jeff to see if he was still going to the party. I understood if he wasn't due to the events earlier this week and if his family would rather have him stay home. He quickly responded with a yeah and continued on with something along the lines of how his mother would like for him to just keep up the appearance that there was nothing wrong. I texted him backing saying okay, I'll meet you there. I sat my phone down just as my mother yelled at me to get dressed for the party now or I will be late. I sighed. Mother of the year only when it may benefit your alcoholic and unsavory habits. I sighed again in annoyance as I stare at the vibrant, puffy, pink dress mommy dearest sat out for me to wear to this birthday party. It literally looked like an outdated prom dress.
"(y/n) (l/n)! GET THAT DRESS ON RIGHT NOW!" I could hear my mother yelling because I had ignored the fact she'd picked out a dress for me to wear to the party, but who in their right mind would wear a dress to a birthday party of all parties? But sadly, that's just how she was; dress for a party and jeans for anything else. So, I complied with the silly nonsense of dresses and chose my black one with a lacy skull back. I liked it but the fact still remained, it is a dress.
I sulked as I crept down the stairs to my mother and this fine day's play toy. As expected she disapproved of the dress, though disgustingly her toy eyed me like the last piece of meat on earth. "Not what I had laid out for you honey but there's no time to change". She slurred in drunken annoyance. Not even five o'clock but yet she's drunk. I sighed, now mother dearest, I thought to myself, you may get me in a dress but I am absolutely wearing my black converse. I slipped on my high tops and headed out the door to see the most terrifying, and unwelcoming sight before me........
