Kayleigh's POV

"There's too much snow on the ground. You're snowed in, you can't go anywhere" Jack said as he pulled me back in and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Fine, I guess I can stay the night" I said with a smile. "I'm sure dad wouldn't mind"

"Denton loves us. He knows we'll take care of you" Jack said as he took my arm and pulled me back into the lobby where the rest of the Newsies were.

"Kayleigh! Kayleigh! Can you read us a story?" A couple of the Newsies asked with pleading eyes.

"Sure what story?" I asked with a small laugh, seeing how excited they were.

"Peter Pan!" They said in unison as one little newsie handed me the book. I've read them that story a couple times before but it was one of their favorites.

"Alright come with me." I said as I led them over to a small space where there was a single chair. "Anyone else wanna listen?" I asked the other Newsies as I sat in the chair.

"I will" Crutchy said as he hobbled over and sat with the rest of the kids.

"Me too" Bumlets and Specs said at the same time. I laughed as they both hurried over and sat down.

"Hey Jack, wanna play some poker?" Race asked. Jack look at me then back over to Race.

"Yeah sure" Jack said as he walked over to a small table near by and sat down with Race, Skittery, Kid Blink, and Mush.

I began to read to everyone who was listening. I would look over at the group playing poker once in awhile and saw them glance over a couple times, especially Jack. I was near the middle of the book when I heard Race start to tease Jack.

"Jack ain't even pay attention to tha game. He's listenin to Peter Pan. Jack likes a little kids story. You goin soft Jack?" Race teased as he laughed.

"I wouldn't be laughing Race. I saw you looking over once in awhile too, you were listening as well." I said gaining some oo's from the boys. Race's face turned red and he looked back down at the cards. I finished the story and got up to go join Jack. He pulled me into his lap and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"What's wrong with liking little kid story's anyway Race?" I asked while they continued to play poker.

"Nothin I just needed a reason to tease Jack" he said with a smile. I rolled my eyes and smiled as I continued to watch the boys play poker.
