Narrative Poem:

Haunted

I had the strangest feeling on that bright and sunny day,

When there was not a single drop of water in the air.

It was the strangest sensation,

That would not allow my stomach to feel fair.

I always looked around me,

For it felt like eyes were always watching,

But nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary.

A single cloud passed over,

And there was nothing I could do,

But cover my head and hope and pray,

That my school work would not get wet. (Because if it got wet, then what would I do?)

I ran to a tree,

And hid under it's leaves,

Until it let up,

For the down-pour seemed to follow me.

Then suddenly as I was walking,

A pair of green eyes popped out,

And stared at me through the bushes,

Scared, to myself I started talking.

"It is nothing, oh nothing, that I see,

But an animal looking out at me.

For there is no such thing,

as monsters and things,

That hide in the dark,

Waiting to eat.

Nothing is there but an animal,

Who has eyes,

As big as my fist.

It is nothing unusual for animals eyes,

To be that big,

And creepy."

As I walked to my house I noticed,

That strange creatures seemed to follow me.

"But there is nothing to see,"I told myself unsurely.

"Perhaps I have been reading too much, yes, that is it, I will see."

But even as I walked into my house,

And locked every door behind me,

I still to this day,

While I live and I pray,

See the creatures everywhere,

Go with me.

They are in my house,

In my yard,

In my bedroom,

And in my heart.

I am still filled with terror,

As the creatures still haunt me.

I never know,

If they will be here, or there.

"That would not allow my stomach to feel fair", means I had a gut feeling. I tried to show readers, my fear of my own imagination, by writing a poem about it chasing me. It seems that my own imagination takes over, and I cannot know the difference between real and fake. I used words like unsurely, to show I was scared, and confused.
