July 5, 1927

Steve woke up and felt terrible. He had a dulled nausous feeling and it felt like his eyes were being pushed out of their sockets. Bucky hadn't woken up yet. So, Steve rolled over and holding his abdomen, trying to fall back asleep. He had rolled off of the cushions and quickly moved back, as the floor was  freezing linoleum. He then noticed that he had a lot of blankets around him...more than before. He looked up at Bucky who had none on him.  'Sometimes he's just too nice' Steve thought, taking one of his blankets off and throwing it up to Bucky's bed.

Bucky woke up and got out of bed. He walked over to Steve and shook him, "Stevie, wake up...I can smell breakfast," he said.  Steve lifted his head.

"You don't look so good," Bucky said.

"I don't feel so good," Steve responded, in a gravelly, nasal voice.

"My ma can bring breakfast to us," Bucky offered. This angered Steve. Sure, Bucky was only trying to help him, but offering that right after the blanket incident made Steve feel helpless. He HATED feeling helpless...he could take care of himself...

"I can function myself ya know," he answered defensively and got up.

Bucky sighed, "I was just tryin' to help," he explained.

"Well I don't need your help!" Steve answered picking up his coats and walking out the door.

"Are you staying for breakfast Steven?" Mrs. Barnes asked as he approached the door, oblivious to his anger.

"I don't feel good," he responded "thanks for letting me stay," he said politely, and left.

He walked over to his house taking the scenic route to avoid the possibility of Bucky following him.

"You're home early," Sarah Rogers said as Steve walked in.

"I'm sick mama," he explained shortly.

"Okay, go lay down and I'll be in in a second," she explained with concern in her voice.

"Alright," Steve said his voice softened by his mother's worry and went to his room.

Meanwhile, Bucky was en route to his house. Before breakfast, he had asked his mother if Steve had left and when she said that he had, he took off towards his house. Halfway there he paused. His help had probably led Steve to believe he was some pity friend still. Not wanting to cause more issues Bucky halted his trip, and made his way back home.
