Tis the season to do something...
How are you guys after what I put you through with my last fanfic? *Gets shot in the arm* Alright alright, I'll give you a cutesy winter one. Then I'll get back to my emo shite.
Dick woke up to the sight of snow gently falling outside his window. He smiled and watched it carefully. A memory of playing in it as a child went on in his head. He thought back to last year, when he was nine, and how Bruce let him play in the snow until he got so tired he nearly passed out. Alfred came in to wake him up only to find Dick looking through some sweaters. "Someone's up early," he stated happily.
"Well it is snowing and I thought I could maybe go out and play in the snow. Like last year." "You'll have to check in with Master Bruce before you do anything I'm afraid." The younger nodded and finally picked out some clothes. "Breakfast is downstairs Master Dick," Alfred announced before leaving. "Thanks Alfred!"
After quickly getting dressed and scoffing his breakfast, Dick made his way down to the Batcave. "Bruce," Dick called out in a sing-song voice only he could get away with using. "Yes Dick," Bruce answered. "Can I go out in the snow? Please." Bruce shook his head sternly. He clearly wasn't going to budge today. "You have to go to the Watchtower and type up your report for that awful mission I let you on." Dick frowned.
"The one with Roy and Wally?" He asked. Bruce nodded. "But-"
"No buts Dick. Get your suit on and go to the Watchtower. No whining." Dick's lip quivered a little but he didn't bother to cry. Bruce wasn't in the mood. He got on his suit and Zetabeamed to the Watchtower. He sat in the main room and began to type up the mission failure onto the database. It was boring as hell, let alone the fact that he was missing out on playing in the snow Gotham barely saw.
Leaguers caught sight of him but thought nothing of it, thinking he was just there to quickly look something up. That was until an hour later Flash saw that he was still sat at that bloody computer. He walked over to him and looked at what he was typing. "You're doing a mission report? Which mission?" Flash asked. Robin jumped a little at his voice then relaxed.
"On the mission with Roy and Wally where we all nearly died." He answered.
"But isn't it snowing in Gotham today? Shouldn't you be having fun?" Flash questioned.
"No he should be here." Batman responded coldly. This time Flash jumped.
"But he's a kid. You could've let him have today at least," Flash defended. "He has tomorrow." With that Batman was off. Flash frowned and looked to Robin. He sighed to himself. "Let me sort something out buddy." he muttered before running off.
Flash found Wonder Woman and Superman in a few minutes. "Guys, can you help me kidnap Robin?" he asked bluntly.
"What?" Wonder Woman asked.
"Bats has him typing up a mission report rather than play in the snow," he explained quickly. "You've got to be joking," Superman replied. Flash shook his head. "How can we help?" he added. Flash smiled and told him his plan. There was no way Robin was spending the day in the Watchtower.
Robin wanted to smash his head onto the keyboard he was that bored. Turns out writing all your mistakes and how you were hurt wasn't fun. At all. It fucking sucked. "Hey Rob, wanna go have a snowball fight?" Flash asked.
"But Batman said I have-"
"Batman's totally cool with you taking a break for a while I promise." Wonder Woman lied. Robin grinned and hugged them. "Thanks Unchi Barry, thanks Tanti Diana" he said. Flash and Diana smiled back at him then led him to the Zetatubes. They just hoped Superman was doing his job.
Ten minutes before
Superman was tasked with keeping Batman in the Watchtower for the next hour. "Hi Bruce, how's work been?" he asked awkwardly. He was pretty sure the guy hated him but if this meant helping Robin be a kid, he'd risk being hit with kryptonite. "Fine." he replied.
"That's great. So you been busy much?"
Batman was messing with some chemicals and turned to him frustratedly. "Is there something you want Clark?" he asked. Superman thought maybe if he was direct with the man then maybe he'd agree with the others. "I was wondering if Rob-"
"He has to do the mission report. Weather doesn't affect that." Superman's fists tightened a little. "He's a child Bruce. Let him have fun," he protested.
"He's a child hero. Let him do his job."
"Bruce, you're sucking the innocence from that kid." Batman grimaced.
"He didn't have much innocence to begin with." he stated. Superman huffed and walked outside the lab. "If you're not going to agree then this is the only way." he stated.
"What are you talking about Clark?" Batman inquired. The Man of Steel then locked the lab with Batman still inside of it. "Clark!" he yelled.
"I'm sorry Bruce but Dick deserves to be a child for a day." He quickly ran off so he could join his fellow Leaguers in the park. If he were honest, he was really excited.
Back to present
Flash and Wonder Woman had taken Robin to a park where they weren't going to gain the public's attention. "Okay Robin, you have a thirty second head start to make snowballs. Got it?" Flash asked. Robin nodded excitedly then ran off to find a good hiding spot and to make snowballs. Flash then started making his own. "Should we come up with a strategy?" Wonder Woman asked as she made her own projectiles. "Strategy is to beat Batman's ward. Or at least last more than ten minutes," Flash answered. Superman soon joined them and the game commenced. Robin got all three heroes within seconds and they only landed two on him after a minute. He laughed happily the whole time, bringing a sense of cheer to all of them. It was times like this that made it worth being a hero. The times when they could relax and be happy with the world they saved each day.
Half an hour passed without a hitch. This soon ended when Batman eventually escaped the lab and found the heroes at a run down park. "You've got to be joking," he muttered. Wonder Woman had a large snowball in her hand that was heading straight for Superman as Flash ran circles around Robin whilst the hero tried to throw snowballs at him. "Robin," he announced. Said hero saw him and frowned. He didn't look too happy. The others saw the Dark Knight and glared daggers at him. Robin walked up to Batman and smiled. "One game, please?" He had to try. Batman glanced at his ward and couldn't resist. Robin was doing those puppy dog eyes again. "Fine. One game," he said. Maybe he wanted a break too. Maybe. Just maybe. Robin jumped up and down with happiness. "Thank you Tati!" he exclaimed hugging him. "Love ya."
"Love you too," he muttered.
The moment was then wrecked by Flash throwing a snowball straight at Batman's face.
