Chapter 19
The next morning Devin woke up to the sound of pages being flipped. Her head was on Alex's chest, she rolled to lay on her back and saw him reading the rest of his book from last night. His hair was a mess and he kept yawning every once in a while. She smiled to herself as she sat up and leaned against him to see what he was reading.
"Morning, princess," his voice croaked out after not being used since yesterday.
"Morning, Rapunzel."
"Sleep well?"
"Yeah, I think the pills are working."
"Well, that's good." She nodded in response. Alex continued until he reached the end of the chapter before he bookmarked the page and placed it on the side table. He moved his arm around her, pulling her body closer to his. Devin could already feel him warming up.
"Stop showing off."
"But I'm trying to impress you."
She laughed and shook her head. "Why do you need to impress me? We're already dating."
"I kinda assumed I dreamt that."
"Why?"
"Because it didn't feel real."
"I don't know whether to be offended by that."
"Don't be." He grinned. She got up after a while and stretched. "But now that we are dating-" Alex spoke up, she froze and turned her head to face him. "I can say, without embarrassment, that you look hot."
"I'm always hot. I don't know why you never mentioned it before. It's just a fact."
"So modest."
"I know." She nodded with a yawn.
"Coffee?" Devin hummed a response before walking into the bathroom to brush her teeth quickly. Alex walked in just after her, grabbing his own toothbrush. She knew she shouldn't go downstairs in just his shirt and her underwear, so she made her way to her own room to get dressed while Alex did the same.

"Peter, for the last time, stop microwaving your damn peeps!" Jubilee yelled in annoyance as Alex and Devin made their way downstairs and towards the kitchen.
"Peter, why do you keep doing that?" Devin asked as she moved to look into the microwave to see the damage done this time while Alex went to make coffee for them both.
"Experimentation." He shrugged and licked the melted peeps off his hands.
"Don't you live somewhere else?"
"Yeah, but I'm not ruining my microwave." Jubilee slowly turned to look at him with a glare, he stepped back with his smiling dropping from his face, bumping into Ororo slightly who was silently laughing at them both.
"I'll help you." Warren got up and picked up a cloth. Jubilee shuffled over the counter, while Warren began to clean the inner door of the microwave. Devin smirked at the two of them, shaking her head. They should just put a child lock on the door. Then Peter won't be able to open it.
"Princess." Alex held the cup out to her while watching the two, taking a sip of his own coffee. She took the coffee from him with a smile and lifted it up to her lips to blow on it to cool it down.
"You know you can heal, right? Even from a burn." Ororo pointed out to Devin.
"I'm not a caveman," she told her before taking a sip.
"Mmm, I somehow doubt that," Ororo replied with a sarcastic look on her face.
"Can we not roast me this early in the morning please?" Devin placed the cup down on the side. "Where's the little boy and J?" She asked when she didn't see them in their usual spot eating cereal.
"Scott's trying to get Jean out of bed." Peter turned around, still licking the melted peeps. "She's cuddling with the bear instead of him. They should be down soon." He turned back to watch Jubilee and Warren clean up his mess as he sat down next to Ororo nudging her right arm with his as he continued to watch Warren and Jubilee clean up his mess.
"I'll get their cereal ready then," Devin mumbled as she opened the cupboards and got out the bowls and the box of cereal. "Would it be bad if I gave Scott the bowl with the straw on the side?" She laughed as she pulled it out of the cupboard.
"I don't think he's really affected by what you do to him anymore." Alex sipped his coffee as he leaned on the counter. "He's given up correcting you when you call him 'little boy' so..."
"I'm going to do it anyway." She shrugged and placed the bowls down before grabbing the milk off the side to pour over the cereal. She stuck two spoons in and placed them on the side where they usually sat for breakfast. It wasn't long before Jean and Scott walked it, dressed for the day. Both eyeing the bowls suspiciously as they walked over to them. "You took too long."
They looked up at Devin before sitting down. Jean smiled and began to eat. "What did you do to it?" Scott looked at her suspiciously.
"I put it in the sip bowl for you." She pointed to it. "I also may have added too much milk."
"Scott it's fine." Jean laughed as she watched Scott slowly take a spoonful. "How does it taste?"
"Like cereal..."
"I'm not always out to get you, little boy." Scott looked over to Devin unimpressed while a drop of milk dribbled down his chin. "Nice, Scott." She lifted her coffee cup back up to drink it.
"How about another double date?" Alex asked her after a minute or two of silence.
"What?"
"You know when we talked about it yesterday."
"Oh yeah, sounds like a good idea. If the little boy and J are up to it?"
"I'm down." Jean nodded.
"Where are we going?" Scott asked.
"We don't know yet." Alex looked over to him from Devin.
"This plan is off to a great start."
"Just drink your milk, little boy." She waved towards his bowl, continuing to drink her coffee.
"I will." He nodded, not really caring about the nickname anymore, and began to drink from the straw.
Jean had finished her bowl before him and was trying to come up with an idea of where to go for the double date. She telepathically suggested a few places to Devin while Devin finished off her coffee. She placed the cup in the sink and leaned onto Alex as he finished his off.

Jean finally decided on one of the aquariums she wanted to go see. Which of course, Devin was down for as well. Scott and Alex didn't seem to mind either because the aquarium was near a local park, arcade place, record store, a small book store, a small cafe and a little movie theatre. It was a town square area, although not any people were out. Considering it was an actual school day, so children would be in school and parents would be working.
Jean made a strict schedule that consisted of everything on that list. But if they didn't complete everything then Devin told her they could just continue tomorrow.
Devin weren't sure how that was going to be possible, but with Jean, anything is possible. The aquarium and book store were first on her list. Jean was dragging Scott up the stairs of the large building while Alex and Devin trailed behind, watching them with smiles.
"Hurry up!" Jean called out to them both as they both slowly walked in.
"Jean calm down, it's only nine."
"Schedule," she told Devin. Devin rolled her eyes and followed behind the two of them. Alex took hold of her hand. She bit the inside of her cheek to try and stop the smile spread on her face.
Jean looked mesmerised by almost everything, while Scott was making voice overs for all the fish to try and make her laugh. Alex had started a game to see who could find the weirdest looking fish. Devin accepted this challenge and began the hunt.
While in the aquarium Devin walked over to one of the tanks and snorted as one of the fishes swam by.
"Scott, come over here!" She called out to him. He walked over to her and looked into the tank. "It's you." She laughed as the fish almost bumped its head into the glass. Scott shook his head and lightly punched her shoulder.
"Shut up," he replied and walked back over to Jean. The fish had a large lump on its forehead. The sign below read; Flowerhorn Cichlid, hybrid.
Alex had heard Devin and laughed loudly, startling one of the couples next to him, he walked over to her, slightly embarrassed and wrapped an arm over her shoulders. Alex steered her over to where Jean and Scott were.
"I found you." Scott pointed to the tank. Small Elephant fish swam around.
"They're cute."
"That's not the reaction I was expecting."
"You're a Ranchu goldfish," she replied. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked over to Devin, seeing that she was looking at the next tank. The goldfish had almost no face, no eyes, he slapped her arm and grumbled. "What was that?" Devin had a grin on her face as she leaned her head towards him more.
"I can see."
"You sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure, everything just...A little red." Devin laughed at him again. Alex laughed as well as Scott tried to defend himself, somehow getting into a small argument with each other. Devin shook her head at the two brothers before she watched Alex put Scott into a headlock.
Jean linked her arm with Devin and pulled her away while the brothers got into a deep discussion about fish. It was a bit weird, but the setting seemed to fit.
"So..." She grinned at Devin.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"No reason, Dev." She shook her head.
"There's always a reason with you, J."
"You just seem really happy with Alex lately," she told her with a soft smile as they stood in front of one of the tanks.
"I could say the same for you and Scott."
"Yeah, but we were never pretending." What...
