CHAPTER 4 [NAMJOON]
Leaning against the lockers, I waited for my "kids"-- Taehyung and Jungkook. They were in the washroom and I seriously have no idea what was taking them so long.
"I hope Taehyung didn't take it out inside now." I scoffed and looked down the corridor. That's when I saw her again.
Y/n, right?
Yes-- I answered myself.
She was storming towards a few kids, with Jimin following behind her.
Was he literally that obsessed with her? Just through online friendship?
Then my attention went towards the kids. Two older kids were bullying a new one. Nothing new to watch, indeed!
I didn't even feel that bad, to be honest. I still remembered how I used to get bullied as a child too. And none of the teachers seemed to care when my mother complained about it.
Since 1st grade, I had always tolerated all the bullying. Never did I complain, nor did I speak against any of them. Until... one day when they took it too far.
That week, I got the highest marks in the class and the teacher praised me exceptionally before the whole class. She even made all clap for me but some people didn't take it well.
Later, during the dispersal, when I was walking down the stairs, my bully appeared behind me and pushed me down directly. I was unconscious for 2 hours, and my head had to be stitched. Even my right arm and my ankle were fractured. And then I knew... that was the last straw.
After I got well, I finally revenged on him and got him expelled.
Don't even ask me what my revenge was...
Since then, no one faced me directly. I was called the 'The Bad Boy' of school and was feared. Although... I don't really remember hurting anyone after that. At least, not without a reason.
My gaze followed her as she went and stood between the kids, stopping them right there. I slowly stepped closer to them, quite intrigued by the drama.
Not that I wanted to enjoy any of it, but the girl's reaction towards the bully amused me.
"...If this is the thing you have been beating him for, then I swear now I am gonna kick your asses harder than you can imagine!" She yelled at one of the bigger kids, who looked pale in fear.
Soon enough, he grabbed something from her hand and along with another lad, ran away.
The new kid hugged her instantly, weeping over her shoulder. She bent down to his height and hugged him back affectionately.
He must be her brother, I suppose. I thought and leaned on the wall of the corridor, with folded arms.
She looked equally teary as the boy but she kept a strong face and consoled him, explaining him to be bold before his bullies.
I wish I had someone to protect and calm me down back then... when I had spent my school days, crying in the toilets or hiding behind the trees in the playground...
"Now... Smile both of you!" She said. The new kid and his friend smiled at each other. Exchanging a few hugs, they went to their classes too.
Jimin whispered something in her ears and she chuckled, nudging him slightly. Staring at her, I realized how beautiful she looked when she smiled. And after a long time, I smiled too.
It was a long-lost feeling. But... it felt good. In the past few years, I really forgot how to smile. I did, only when I saw Taehyung and Jungkook having fun together but other than... I didn't even know how it felt to smile. Let alone, smiling seeing someone else's smile.
That feeling of warmth you feel seeing someone's smile... was totally new to me, after being so alone and neglected for all these years. And somewhere inside me, I knew this meant something... something I was afraid to know... yet something I was curious about...
A/N Double update today! Cuz it's a short one...so not that worth waiting a week for it. I hope you like it.
Thank you
Ankita
